I Am the Only Fertile Woman in the Game-Chapter 272 Confession
48 hours before annihilation.
Zong Fang closed his eyes and hugged her tightly, whispering in her ear with a trembling voice, "I’ll wait for you."
Qiao Suisui felt the warmth of his embrace, a bitterness surged in her heart as she gently pushed him away and looked into his eyes, filled with determination and resolve.
"I’ll come back." She nodded firmly, trying to make her voice sound calm and strong.
He gazed deeply at her and then let go of her hand.
Suddenly, they felt the ground beneath their feet tremble slightly.
Qiao Suisui looked up, the ceiling of the Imperial Court was shaking. And the sky outside, originally a bright blue, was turning gloomy, as if shrouded by a thick layer of gray fog.
Buildings in the distance began to crack, giant fissures tearing open like wounds of a beast.
Skyscrapers crumbled like sculptures made of piled sand, and the Beastmen on the streets were running around in a panicked attempt to escape the sudden catastrophe.
Weird cracks started to appear in the sky, as if the entire world’s canopy was shattering. Blinding white light shone through the cracks, accompanied by loud roars, and the whole world seemed to lose its balance in an instant.
"The game world is collapsing..."
Qiao Suisui took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down.
She summoned the System, gave the men one last deep look, and confirmed her logout.
The next second, she was back in the room in reality.
Qiao Suisui shook her head and looked at the clock on the wall.
47 hours and 34 minutes remained before her complete annihilation.
Messages from Ye Xi kept popping up on her phone, and she picked it up to quickly reply, "I’m out now, heading to the airport to meet you."
Qiao Suisui hurriedly stuffed her luggage into her backpack, preparing to head to the airport. Anxiety surged within her, knowing that she was running out of time.
Just as she opened the door, she bumped into a woman.
"Mom?"
The hallway light came on, and Mother Qiao’s face was filled with apology and nervousness; she had obviously been standing outside their house for a long time.
"How did you know I live here?"
Qiao Suisui frowned at her.
Mother Qiao unusually didn’t contend with her as she would normally, but hesitantly said, "Suisui, I’m sorry, I was too harsh on you before, I want to talk…"
Her voice trailed off, filled with guilt, and her eyes were full of hope.
Qiao Suisui was stunned for a moment, then she glanced at the time on her phone.
"Let’s talk when I come back."
However, Mother Qiao grabbed her arm, pulling out a bank card from her pocket and handing it to her.
It was the same bank card she had slammed on the table when they severed their relationship, containing thirty thousand yuan she had earned over the years.
Qiao Suisui frowned, even feeling somewhat dazed, as the events of the past week seemed like they happened a very long time ago, so long that she could hardly muster any anger.
"What is this supposed to mean?" she asked.
Mother Qiao replied, "You’re living on your own, and it’s better to have some money. Moreover, it’s money you earned yourself."
Qiao Suisui glanced at the time again, "I made it clear last time we spoke. I will repay all the expenses you incurred raising me over the years, and I hope there will be no further contact between us."
"I know, I know… But can a blood relationship really be severed just like that? Suisui, your mother was... indeed too harsh before, but I’ve had a lot of time to think... Let’s be a family like we used to be, okay?"
Qiao Suisui turned her head and exhaled, glancing at the time pointing towards eleven o’clock.
"I have something very important to do now, we’ll talk when I get back," she replied, trying to keep her tone calm, but the urgency inside her was impossible to hide.
However, Mother Qiao still held onto her, her voice getting louder, "You are my own flesh and blood! How can you just disappear like that!"
At this moment, Qiao Jiming rushed up the stairs, his face full of anxiety and worry. He was panting, his back soaked with sweat, apparently aware of Mother Qiao’s presence and worried about what she might say to hurt Qiao Suisui.
Qiao Suisui looked at Qiao Jiming, "Did you give her this address?"
Qiao Jiming’s face flashed with guilt. He knew that explanations were useless now, but he still didn’t want her to misunderstand him, "It was mom who went through my phone."
"I just wanted to have a proper talk with Suisui!" Mother Qiao glanced at Qiao Jiming, then looked toward Qiao Suisui and sighed.
Qiao Suisui was about to speak when her cell phone suddenly rang; it was Ye Xi calling because she hadn’t responded to his messages.
"Where are you? This was the earliest flight, it left at midnight. Hurry up, it takes us 18 hours to get there from here."
Her heartbeat suddenly sped up, she took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down.
"I’m sorry, I really have something important to handle."
Saying this, she forcefully shook off Mother Qiao’s hand and ran downstairs quickly.
Qiao Jiming stopped Mother Qiao who wanted to chase after her, then turned and ran out himself.
When he reached the first floor, he grabbed Qiao Suisui’s wrist, "Where are you going so late?"
Qiao Suisui did not turn back and kept walking while Qiao Jiming anxiously followed behind.
"I said I have something to do."
"What is it? I can help you. Or, are you going to meet Teacher Guan?"
Qiao Suisui didn’t have time to answer him, she stood by the street hailing a taxi.
Qiao Jiming watched her intently, his chest heaving continuously.
He had ordered flowers and a cake today, just to help celebrate her birthday and to reveal the secret he had kept in his heart for so many years.
But she hadn’t glanced at him even once.
"I have something to say..."
Seeing that the person in front still hadn’t responded, Qiao Jiming felt a surge of bitterness and helplessness in his heart. He wanted to get closer to her, but each time he tried, he was ignored.
Was he really just a younger brother in her eyes?
"Qiao Suisui, I like you, do you know that?"
Cars passed by incessantly on the road, the noise of the rushing vehicles drowning out his voice.
Qiao Suisui faintly heard him say something, but the pressing pressure made it hard for her to think.
"Ji Ming, go back first. We can talk when I return."
Her attention was on a taxi with the "Available" light coming towards her, completely unaware of Qiao Jiming standing beside her with his head bowed, his expression unreadable.
Just when she was about to wave her hand, a youth grabbed her wrist first.
Qiao Jiming pulled her forcefully into his arms, cupped her cheeks with his hands, and kissed her in a vengeful manner.
Qiao Suisui’s mind went blank for a moment, then she pushed him away forcefully.
"What are you doing!"
She looked incredulously at the person in front of her, "Qiao Jiming, have you been drinking?"
"I haven’t drunk too much. I’m very sober."
Qiao Jiming’s eyes shone alarmingly bright in the night, his dark gaze firmly fixed on her.
"I have no blood relation to you, I like you."
A car honked as it whooshed past them, stirring up a gust of wind.
Qiao Suisui’s hair fluttered up, and she stared blankly at Qiao Jiming, unable to speak.
"I don’t care what you thought of me before, but from today onwards, I hope you see me as a man."
She felt like laughing, but couldn’t manage to, and found herself at a loss for words.
Suddenly, a black Bentley pulled up at the curb.
The car window rolled down, Guan Weizhi’s gaze shifted back and forth between them, then he said to Qiao Suisui, "Get in the car."
