I Am The Only Witch Hunter-Chapter 330: Dreamless Walker
"It’s probably a Dreamless Walker." Siderius said.
"What is a Dreamless Walker?" Quinlan said.
"Profunda is a very hard to access plane. Unless you can fulfil certain conditions.
However, its creatures really like to pull beings from other planes to Profunda.
Physically, it is very difficult. But pulling only the mind is way easier. That is the Dreamless Walker. A shadow creature of Profunda that pulls beings into the hell of darkness."
"Why?" Bas asked.
"The same reason that any creature does anything. For food."
The group checked the other houses in the town as well. Everyone had fallen into a deep sleep and none could be awakened.
"Well shit. We don’t even see the Walker." Bas said.
The group returned to the main street of the town after having checked everything.
"It is expected. Creatures of Profunda are very hard to detect. They exist between worlds." Siderius said.
"So how the hell are we going to kill it?" Bas said.
Siderius smirked.
He didn’t say anything but everyone already understood what he was implying.
Bas shook his head. "Nah ah. I am not going to hell for some strangers."
"Actually, it would be interesting learning what hell looks like." Quinlan said.
"You?! All of you are crazy." Bas said.
Quinlan had slowly become more ’deranged’ in the last few days in Bas’s point of view. The mummy started to ask more questions, try different professions, and actively look for ’interesting’ subjects.
Bas didn’t know that Quinlan was simply accumulating his ’Truth’ to further enhance his Truth-Seeking Path.
"I also want to go, Master." Ashe said.
Bas shook his head in refusal. He couldn’t believe how much these people wanted to die.
"Relax, Bas. We won’t be going to the real hell. It is only a space between this world and hell. You can think of it like a projection between worlds. The Walker is probably there."
"Ugh... Fine. When are we going?"
"Now."
The group found an abandoned house. They began to reinforce the place carefully, nailing boards on the windows and barricaded the front door.
Bas dusted the wood chips off his hands.
"Alright. We’re done."
Siderius sat in the middle of the house and had spent the last half an hour to draw a special Sulfur and Salt Seal on the ground.
It was a seal to allow their soul entering into the middle plane and also to protect them from harm of the physical world. It wouldn’t hang on for long but should be enough to notify them to return.
"I am also done here. Lie down."
The four people, three men and one woman lay on the ground. They lay into a cross shape with their head pointed toward each other. A small space was kept in the middle, the core of the seal.
Siderius grabbed a matchstick and lit it on fire. Him and everyone else also held a matchstick in their hand.
"Remember. Whenever you want to return, light the matchstick up and the seal shall transfer you back.
Ready?"
"Yes."
"Let’s go, boys... and girl."
"I’m ready, Master."
Siderius threw the matchstick into the small circle on top of everyone’s head. The seal lit up brightly and they quickly fell into a coma. Their hands still held on the spare matchstick tightly.
Siderius opened his eyes and saw himself back in the forest where he came from. However, Bas, Ashe, and Quinlan were nowhere to be found.
Siderius took a look around. The forest here was different. It had no colors, only darkness and shadow. It was a projection of the physical world as a shadow.
Siderius channeled the seal on his back. The Silver Hawk appeared on command.
"Still usable."
Siderius grabbed the blade and headed to the direction of the town again. Unfortunately, he couldn’t bring Blazing Soul with him. But Silver Hawk should be enough.
In this world, there were only two colors, black, white and their variations.
The sky was gray. The clouds were gray. The moon was white. The trees were black. The ground was black. The air was gray. Everything was a painting of black, white, and gray.
The only thing with color was Siderius. The hunter checked his body. Aside from his armor and hunter uniform, his cloak wasn’t there. His mask wasn’t there. All of his bombs, arrows, sling, and bow weren’t there either.
The only weapon on him was the Silver Hawk. It carried over to this world because of their Soul Link.
He looked at his left palm. The matchstick was also there. One of the few things that could be carried over. It was also the ticket home. Siderius tucked it carefully into his pocket. The others also had one each to get home. Unfortunately, this method only allowed one matchstick to be brought along.
Siderius treaded on the dark path. Suddenly, a small creature jumped down from a tree branch and rushed at him. Siderius didn’t even look and sliced at the creature with the silver sword.
It was a scorpion-like creature with very long legs. It was sliced in half and fell to the ground. Its body quickly dissolved into black smoke and disappeared. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
"Filthy creature. Profunda has all kinds of monsters these days."
Siderius continued onwards. He saw many creatures on his path. All were reflections of real creatures turned horrific.
After the scorpion, Siderius saw a tall skinny shadow fox feasting on a corpse of a colored human. That human must be a villager from the town.
The fox lifted its head up when it saw Siderius. Its dark mouth was soaked with blood.
The creature rushed at Siderius. He flexed his left arm and summoned the silver bracer.
<Esturo> was drawn in the air. The fox immediately slowed down and stumbled like it was drunk.
Siderius dashed forward. He went past it while slicing Silver Hawk over its head. The fox’s head flew to the air and its body slumped to the ground.
Siderius then approached the human corpse. He squatted down and flipped the body over.
That was the man that was lying on the table. He wasn’t really dead. Nothing died in Profunda. They would only be forgotten.
The man moaned. His mind was harmed because of all the tortures he endured in this place.
"It’s alright. You’re free now."
Siderius drew a seal on his right palm and smacked the man in the head. Orange fire engulfed the man and released him to the real world.
Sulfur seal could sever the soul connection to Profunda.
Siderius dusted off his hands then stood up. "It’s a pity that this seal couldn’t work on yourself. If it did, my former Alchemy Guild would have learned much more about this place."
Siderius continued on his path.
