I Am The Only Witch Hunter-Chapter 336: The Walker Advertisement
The shadow fell back first onto the ground.
Quinlan pushed forward and slammed the shovel onto its face. This time it didn't work however. The shadow creature slapped the shovel away and shot a tentacle to Quinlan.
"Welp! My job here is done!"
Quinlan threw the shovel into the shadow creature's tentacles and ran as fast as possible. He was only there to stop the shadow creature.
Ashe pulled the trigger and shot at the tentacle, covering Quinlan so that he could run away.
Bas and Siderius rushed at the shadow creature. Siderius was much faster than Bas and he came to it first.
"Esturo!"
The sigil lit up in the air as its effect overwhelmed the shadow creature. Its attack toward Quinlan was interrupted immediately.
Siderius jumped and spun in the air, driving the Silver Hawk onto the neck of the humanoid shadow brute.
He decapitated it in one strike. But the shadow creature didn't die yet. Its headless body tried to stand up.
Bas had come. He pushed the shadow creature on the ground again and drove the machete into its chest, pinning it on the ground.
Siderius used that chance to cut the limbs of the shadow creature off, immobilizing it completely.
"Why isn't it dead?!" Bas held the machete tightly but the creature squirmed fiercely.
"Don't worry. I will deal with it."
Siderius quickly drew a salt seal on his right palm. It was a crystallization seal, used to separate energy.
He slammed it on the shadow creature. The black smoke quickly dissipated until only one crystallized key was on the ground.
"What is that?" Bas said.
"The key to the gate." Siderius picked the key up. He broke the salt crystal on the outside.
There was still shadow energy inside but it wasn't enough to transform into a shadow creature anymore.
"The thing that we're looking for. The Dreamless Walker. The creature that poisoned the Forest Guardian and the culprit that pulled the villagers inside this realm... is behind those gates."
Siderius pointed to the middle of the town where high wooden walls circled around what was supposed to be a well.
"What are we waiting for? Let's deal with that quickly and get out of here." Bas rotated his shoulder, ready for a second round.
"I can't help much with that. I will stay behind and gather the villagers then. Will they be able to leave once it is dead?" Quinlan said.
Siderius nodded, "Probably. We don't know how destructive the Dreamless Walker can be so it's a good idea to evacuate the villagers out of town."
"Sounds fine to me. I will lead them out." Quinlan said.
"Let's get to work."
The group gathered the surviving villagers that Siderius had encountered before. They followed Quinlan outside of town and would be staying at a small safe zone just between the town and the forest. There weren't any shadow creatures in that place so it should be suitable for them to stay for a while.
After that, Siderius, Ashe, and Bas approached the gate.
The witch hunter slid the key into the slot and twisted. The gate creaked open.
Behind the gate was not a well. But rather, a large hole with spinning purple energy inside.
"What is that thing?" Bas widened his eyes.
"As I suspected, there was no well. The people here were fooled. They were manipulated by the hell of darkness to open a Hellgate.
That hole leads directly to the true Profunda. Not this projection." Siderius said.
"Where is the Dreamless Walker?" Ashe looked around.
Just as she finished her sentence, a large creature emerged from the hole. A skinny humanoid creature with the head of a stag and a pair of complex branch-like antlers.
Siderius' pupils dilated and filled his entire eyes. His dark vision turned to the max, allowing him to observe the creature more clearly.
It was a creature of shadow for sure. But it had taken the form of the Forest Guardian. Or more precisely, it was leeching the energy from the forest.
"No wonder why we encountered so many corrupted animals. This Walker is trying to take the power away from the Forest Guardian." Siderius said.
"What would happen if it succeeded, Master?"
"The entire forest of that area would be darkened and corrupted. Becoming like something we see right now. A projection of hell. Give it enough time, maybe a true Hellgate can also be opened." Siderius said.
"Well. We did the right thing coming here then. Let's kill this thing." Bas licked his mouth and lowered his center of gravity.
The Walker emerged completely out of the hole. It was a giant creature that was around 5-6 meters tall. Its limbs were skinny and long like old trees. Its body was made by filthy water of brown and pollution.
It turned to Siderius. But instead of attacking, it raised its palm and opened slowly.
Inside its hand was a purple sphere. A perfect concentrated energy of the hell of darkness.
"We need no fighting." The Walker's voice echoed. Its voice sounded ancient and far. "Leave me be and this shall be yours."
"What is that thing?" Bas's brow furrowed.
"Nether... Pure untouched Nether. The greatest destructor of all worlds." The Walker spoke again. "You can make an unstoppable weapon with it. An indestructible devastating weapon."
Siderius' eyes flashed the color of rainbow as he checked the Karmic State of the Walker. It was hated by this world but favored by hell.
Bas was actually moved a little bit by the walker's words. But he knew better than to listen to a random monster. Bas turned to Siderius.
He whispered, "What do we do now?"
"We attack it."
Siderius activated Explosive Impact and Explosive Speed. He turned into a blurry streak in the air and cut the ankles of the giant dreamless walker.
The walker knelt down. "Insolent fools! Do you know what you are declining?"
Siderius appeared on the other side.
He smirked, "Of course. Indestructible weapon? Nothing is indestructible. Especially Nether. And why didn't you say anything about its corrupt properties, huh?"
The Walker stayed silent. Its ankles healed up. The purple sphere seeped under its skin. Its silence was already an answer.
Bas spat to the ground, "Cunning monster. Trying to fool me again."
The Walker sighed, "So be it. A fight you shall have."
