I Am the Sweetheart of Mr. CEO-Chapter 612: Barker Group?
Actually, Sally could feel that her relationship with Nathan Leafcastle was far from solid. That man treated her well, but often seemed to space out alone.
Even though he was sleeping beside her, sometimes she had a feeling of not knowing what he was thinking.
"Sally," Liliana Davis spoke again, "As a mother, I’m very sure the best person for Nathan is you. I hope you both can be happy, so... this time, let’s be selfish, even if this is Auntie’s request. Let’s stop this matter here, don’t invite Vera Wave to your wedding. Ashton and Barker are rivals, Nathan and Vera..." Liliana Davis took a deep breath, "must be careful not to become friends!"
Sally hesitated for a moment, and finally nodded.
"Don’t worry, I understand."
"Alright, let’s go back then!"
Liliana Davis washed her hands and led Sally back to the hall, taking a seat at the table again.
"Is everything okay?"
Nathan Leafcastle turned his face to inquire gently about Sally, who shook her head lightly.
At this moment, Nathan Leafcastle turned again to look at Vera Wave and Grandma Wave across the table.
"Grandma, when Sally and I get married, you..."
"Cough!" Sally hastily coughed, reaching out to hold Nathan Leafcastle’s arm, "Nathan?"
"What’s wrong?" Nathan Leafcastle’s voice was interrupted, looking over suspiciously.
"I... I’m feeling a bit unwell, could you please pour me some water?"
Nathan Leafcastle raised his hand to call over a waiter to pour a glass of water for Sally.
Sally looked at Liliana Davis beside her and then spoke with a smile.
"Our wedding will likely be held in Singapore. It’s a long journey, and it’s too tiring for Grandma to go."
Vera Wave smiled and said, "It’s fine. If Grandma can’t go, I will definitely be there to support."
With her saying so, due to Sally’s personality, it wasn’t appropriate to say anything more. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
Liliana Davis put down her cup, "The specific wedding date hasn’t been set yet. It’s too early to talk about marriage. We’ll discuss it further once we finalize the date and location."
"Yes, yes!" Sally hurried to agree, "Come, let’s have a drink to thank Grandma, Cooper sir, and Vera Wave for attending our engagement party."
Due to Vera Wave’s nature, she wouldn’t overthink it, but Kris Cooper felt that the atmosphere at the dining table was a bit off.
His phone vibrated in his pocket. He took it out, glanced at the number, excused himself, and left the hall to take the call.
"What have you found?"
"We’ve found the former Environmental Organization person in charge, Dallas Sail. The organization received a large donation last year, right before the Deer Island project protest."
"Oh?" Kris Cooper raised an eyebrow, "Where did the funds come from?"
"Barker Group."
"Barker Group?"
"Yes, and we also found a connector, who happens to be among certain personnel."
Kris Cooper’s voice hardened.
"It’s... Liliana Davis?"
"Exactly. It was indeed the former Director of Energy Bureau, Liliana Davis."
Kris Cooper’s peach blossom eyes slowly narrowed, and a cold tone crept into his gaze.
Indeed, it was her!
He lowered his right hand holding the phone, turned around, and stared at the banquet inside the hall from the entrance.
"Investigate it thoroughly. I want to know what exactly is the grievance between Liliana Davis and the Wave Clan?"
Tommy Taylor followed his gaze into the hall, "You mean?"
