Chapter 16: Upgrade: Super Enhancement Fruit

In four massive bites, Igris devoured the entire fruit, not even bothering to spit out the hard seeds.

The violent bloodline awakening had completely drained his energy, leaving him feeling ravenously, aggressively hungry. The fruit itself tasted exactly as he expected—like a crisp apple perfectly blended with a sweet, tart blackberry.

It didn’t melt or dissolve into glowing energy; it just settled into his stomach like a normal piece of fruit.

Igris licked his lips, waiting in anticipation. Ten seconds passed. Then twenty.

Nothing happened.

"Don’t tell me I was so unlucky I rolled a zero?" Igris muttered, his brows furrowing in deep concern.

[ Ding! You have received +21 Agility. ]

The golden notification finally popped up in his line of sight. Igris’s eyes lit up for a fraction of a second, but the moment he actually registered the number, he pouted. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚

"Twenty-one? That little?"

He didn’t think his luck was so terrible that he couldn’t even roll an average of 50 points.

But before he could complain any further, his thigh muscles violently spasmed.

His muscles began to forcibly expand and contract. Thick, pulsing green veins, the size of large earthworms, began to squirm visibly beneath the skin of his legs. His bones hardened, packing together with impossible density, yet ironically, Igris instantly felt completely weightless. He felt so light, it was as though gravity had simply ceased to apply to him.

"Whoa," Igris breathed.

Wanting to test his new body, he took a single, casual step forward.

’BANG!’

In the absolute blink of an eye, Igris crossed the massive ten-meter span of the master bedroom. He couldn’t even process the movement before his face violently smashed into the solid stone wall on the opposite side of the room.

"Argh! Fuck!"

He stumbled backward, clutching his face as warm blood gushed from his nose.

His speed was absolutely incredible! He hadn’t even activated a movement technique, yet his casual walking speed was already faster than a Level 7 or Level 8 Awakened. He didn’t know the exact stats of the Godscions who had just arrived, but he was certain that at Level 1, absolutely none of them could match him in sheer velocity!

He blindly grabbed a towel from a nearby rack and pressed it against his bleeding nose. He ran his tongue over his teeth, wincing as he felt one of his incisors wobbling loosely in his gums.

"I definitely need to be more careful with this," Igris groaned, his voice muffled by the towel. "I need to find my limits and figure out how to properly utilize this momentum in combat. If my reaction time can’t catch up to my physical speed, this stat is completely useless in a fight. I’ll just end up impaling myself on an enemy’s sword."

’Knock! Knock!’

A polite rapping at the bedroom door pulled Igris from his thoughts.

"Good morning, Master," a soft, respectful voice called out from the hallway. "Your breakfast is prepared. Please come eat before your classes begin."

It was Lara, the head maid of the mansion.

Right on cue, Igris’s stomach unleashed a roar so loud it sounded like a dying beast. The intense muscular strengthening had completely burned through the fruit he just ate. He was starving again.

Igris threw the bloody towel aside and quickly opened the door.

Lara stood there perfectly composed, not even flinching as Igris practically bolted past her down the hallway. Igris cast a brief, suspicious glance at her—he felt she wasn’t as simple as a normal servant—but he was far too hungry to care. Besides, the Academy wouldn’t assign an assassin to manage the top freshman’s mansion... right?

When Igris reached the grand dining room, he found a steaming plate waiting for him: thick slices of hot bread, a massive, juicy steak, and a pot of rich tea.

Without a shred of elegance, Igris sliced the bread in half, shoved the entire steak inside, and devoured the makeshift sandwich as if he had been starved for months.

It took him exactly fifty seconds to clear the plate.

"Is there more?" he asked, looking up expectantly.

Lara simply blinked her calm eyes and nodded. She clapped her hands twice.

"Clap! Clap!"

Two beautiful junior servants hurried into the dining room, carrying massive silver trays piled high with food.

"Finally," Igris sighed in relief. The steak sandwich had just been the appetizer. This was the real meal: massive bowls of fried rice, two whole roasted turkeys, and a giant basin of fresh salad.

Thirty minutes later, Igris exited the mansion’s front doors, feeling incredibly satisfied. The burning, primal hunger had finally been satiated.

Standing at his iron gates, he looked out over the sprawling Student Mountain. He was at the absolute peak of the First-Year boundary. He was officially the Number 1 student of the freshman class.

Looking down at Building 2, situated roughly three hundred meters below his estate, Igris couldn’t help but grin. Building 2 wasn’t even half the size of his mansion. It probably didn’t even come with a private staff.

Suddenly, the heavy clopping of hooves echoed behind him.

Igris turned around and was genuinely stunned to see two massive, snow-white Windmane Horses pulling a luxurious, dark-wood carriage trimmed with gold.

A rugged, middle-aged man in a sharp driver’s uniform hopped down from the conductor’s seat and bowed deeply.

"Your carriage is ready, Master Igris."

Igris recognized him as James, one of the ten staff members assigned to the estate. He hadn’t expected the mansion to come with its own transportation.

"Is this mine, or did you hire it for me?" Igris asked, raising an eyebrow.

"It is yours, sir," James replied smoothly. "There is a private stable at the rear of the estate housing four Windmane Horses. As long as you hold the deed to Building 1, everything on these grounds belongs entirely to you."

Igris’s lips curled into a wide grin. "Not bad. Not bad at all."

The Windmane Horses were magnificent, standing over two meters tall at the shoulder. The carriage itself was massive, easily three meters in height and spacious enough to comfortably seat ten people inside.

Without a moment of hesitation, Igris climbed into the plush, velvet-lined interior.

"Head towards the Hero Hall," Igris ordered, settling into the cushions. "I want to enjoy the scenery, so take it slow."

"Yah!"

James cracked the reins, and the massive Windmane Horses began their steady descent down the mountain.

As the morning sun fully crested the horizon, hundreds of surviving freshmen began to exit their cabins, groaning as they started the long, grueling walk down the mountain toward the Academy grounds.

The moment the students saw the massive, gold-trimmed carriage rolling past them, their jaws practically hit the dirt.

"What the hell?! There are carriages on this mountain? Why didn’t anyone tell me?!"

"You know nothing, John. That carriage belongs exclusively to the person strong enough to hold Building 1."

"Damn it! If I had known there were perks like that, I would have fought harder for a higher rank!"

"I think I know who’s inside," a large boy whispered loudly.

"It has to be Arian Nickel."

"Arian Nickel? The guy who almost became a Godscion?"

"Yeah. The Nickel family practically breeds Divine Generals. No wonder nobody dared fight him for the top house. Guess I can stop dreaming about taking it from him."

The students continued to bitterly gossip and complain as they trudged down the winding path, completely unaware of the truth.

At the very foot of the mountain, Caleb stood by the side of the road, shifting his weight nervously as he waited. When he saw the beautiful carriage approaching, his eyes lit up with deep envy.

’If only I had fought a little harder...’

Caleb thought, before immediately shaking his head. ’Nop. My life is still the most valuable thing I own. Where there’s life, there’s hope.’

Caleb removed his gaze from the carriage, preparing to wait for Igris to walk down the path.

But suddenly, the massive Windmane Horses pulled back. The luxurious carriage rolled to a gentle stop right in front of him.

The velvet curtain shifted, and a very familiar head popped out of the window, offering a lazy grin.

"Get in, Caleb."
