Chapter 7: 7:The Developer Of The Game

Sigh...

He didn’t know how many times he had sighed since yesterday. His eyes were desolate, etched with sorrow and grievances.

Sighing again, Eryk found himself lost in a whirlwind of thoughts, his eyes reflecting desolation and sorrow. The weight of grievances seemed unbearable.

He was about to sigh again when a pair of soft hands held his hands.

A mist of blood erupted, from which a figure materialized in front of him.

Crimson aura coagulated before him, turning into a red-haired figure in a fiery dress.

"Elara..."

In a radiant scarlet gown, Elara captivated all with her flowing crimson locks, cascading like molten fire.

Her crimson eyes sparkled with warmth and wisdom, while her porcelain complexion glowed with ethereal beauty. Adorned with jewels that shimmered like stars, she stood with grace and elegance, a vision of captivating allure.

Eryk swallowed his saliva, finding it hard to breathe as he looked at his wife.

She was as beautiful as ever.

"Eryk... I got the letter." She muttered with a smile, but Eryk could sense the piercing pain and sadness behind her voice.

"Elara, what should we do? Should we let him go?"

Elara ruffled his hair with a loving smile, yet beneath the smile lay the piercing pain that hid the depth of her sorrow and regret.

"I don’t want to... I don’t want to, but what can I do? I can’t always bind him up. He is already doing so much for us, trying and struggling desperately to show us that he isn’t useless..."

"Eryk... It hurts... I don’t want him to struggle. I just want him to live a simple life, but..." Elara paused.

Her eyes held a great amount of melancholy to the point that she bit her lips, trying to keep her tears from falling.

She came here to support her husband, not to make him more desperate.

"If we keep him caged, we will just be cutting off his wings and destroying him."

Eryk nestled his head in Elara’s embrace, trying to contain his emotions.

He, who had been numb to all emotions, had never imagined that one day his son would bring out a side of him that he never knew existed.

The moment he got the enrollment letter, he knew.

He knew why his son was going there.

The academy is a great place to grow, create connections, and much more, but he didn’t need it.

House Nova is self-sufficient and has enough resources that can rival the academy and even the whole Empire.

"Elara... I know why he is going there."

His voice became a bit hoarse.

Being someone who always kept a close eye on his son, how could he be indifferent to his son’s thought process?

"He is going there for revenge. He is going there to take revenge for us..."

Nova’s influence had been inseparable from the Empire, but this huge influence often displeased the aristocratic factions because, due to their presence, they couldn’t exert pressure on the royal family.

This caused Nova to stand like a high wall that couldn’t be overcome easily, but the wall that had been shielding and protecting the royal family was now showing signs of decay.

Irrespective of glory, people always look to the future.

No matter how mighty an empire is, one day it is bound to fall into dust.

After his son’s birth, a few servants and priests spread Noel’s information and disclosed his aptitude, immediately shifting the momentum.

Moreover, at the age of seven, he organized a grand party for his son, but the banquet was destroyed because of a few rats who mocked Noel.

Soon, various rumors started spreading, like why they didn’t have another child—maybe something was wrong with him or his wife—while in fact, they were healthy.

The reason why they opted out of having another child was proof that they loved Noel wholeheartedly and didn’t want to put a burden on him.

Moreover, they were afraid of their second child’s relationship with Noel, so they put it off.

But things don’t always go as one plans.

Their excess love had put more pressure and burden on Noel.

"Now, we can only trust him, Eryk... As parents, we need to support our children, so don’t be sad, and let’s welcome his decision."

"After all, our son has grown up into a fine gentleman."

"For someone like me, I have never imagined that I would feel this way for any human, but I am proud of him as an individual and happy to be able to have a son like him."

Elara muttered softly with a blooming smile.

...

"Heheh.... As expected of Slasher Jules, the character I created..." a crooked laughter escaped from him as he looked at the newspaper depicting the event that took place in Arcadia Metropolis.

"Still, if it was anyone else, the news might have been suppressed, but those greedy vultures, as long as there is any news from Nova, they will make sure to highlight it.."

"Nova... They really have some awesome characters."

Saying this, he shook his head, remembering the grim fate of Nova.

Noel De Nova..

A character that was created with a curse.

The reason.

It’s because one of his teammates had a very sad childhood, so that masochist created Noel to just suffer in the game.

He wasn’t a main character nor could he be called a side character. He just existed to add more depth and a realistic feeling of sorrow to the theme, depicting that no matter how you tried, you may still fail.

Sadly, all his struggle would end after he joined the academy, and his death would create a big chaos.

Now this is where choice plays a part.

If you managed to turn them to your side, they will be your biggest allies, or else the worst villains.

The roadblock they designed was quite hard.

"They were talking about removing this theme.. I wonder what happened to the game after it was released."

A faint hint of sadness flashed in his eyes.

He was one of the developers of the game, into which he poured his heart and soul. However, before the game was completed, a lightning shock struck his office and he died.

The next moment, he opened his eyes and he was here.

He then threw the paper and looked at the deep valley..

"Hisss.. Damn.. Did I really have to climb down through this.."

Swallowing his saliva, he prayed to Jesus and slowly stepped down.

....

"HUHH!"

"This should be here, right.." He climbed down a gorge, squeezing his way through a narrow hole formed in the rock.

"Grrrhhh! It’s so much harder... These inhuman bastards.. Can’t they have just made it easy to get through." Gritting his teeth, the man squeezed through the passage at the top of the mountain.

CRack!

His bones rattled as he squeezed his way through the narrow gorge. As he entered, he extended his hand to grab a rugged stone from the wall to support himself when—

SWish;

The loosely attached stone broke.

"Wait.. Seriously... Ahhhhhh!"

His body slid down through the gorge into the deep abyss. He screamed at the top of his lungs in fear and shock, thinking that this was the end. However—

Splash.

He slammed into a water pool that acted as a cushion, absorbing the shock.

Gaaahh!

He emerged from the water, gasping loudly. "A small water body... I didn’t remember that there was a water body.."

Everything was dark, making it hard for him to see.

"Whatever.." he then took a stone from his pouch that glowed in darkness, helping him to navigate.

He searched around the place, looking for things.

"Now where is it?"

"It should have been glowing, right?"

After wandering around and swimming for a moment, he finally found a small mound atop which a huge tree stood.

The moment he saw it, his eyes dilated in horror.

"Whaaaat!"

"It should have been glowing in full austere... No.. No, this isn’t possible.." he muttered in panic, grabbing his hair while speeding towards it.

In the game, when the protagonist was chased by a group of monsters, he slipped through loose rocks and fell here.

In the dark, narrow cave, he found a mysterious tree that was glowing brightly with a bright pear-shaped fruit hanging on it.

He then climbed the mound and looked at the tree whose leaves had been wilted.

"That means only one thing."

"Someone must have taken the fruit, but the protagonist was supposed to take it in ACT II of the gameplay, so how is this possible?"

"Or did they change the gameplay."

A wave of dreariness settled over him.

"What should I do?"

"The Mystic Fruit would have helped me awaken a Mystic, but now it’s gone.."

Mystic Fruit.

As the name suggests, taking it would help a person awaken a Mystic Core irrespective of whether you have one or not.

But now he was missing it.

And God knows who took it.

"Calm down, Reed.. It’s not over.." he wiped the beads of sweat that formed despite being drenched in water. He then bent down and started digging at the roots.

After an hour, he finally found a bulb.

"Thankfully this was left behind.. At least with this, I won’t have a potential cap limiting it."

He grabbed it and chewed it, after which he felt a body shock.
