I Became the Alchemy Master by Picking Up Trash-Chapter 281 - 279: Confrontation
"Actually teasing me!" Sun Wei snarled viciously, "Looks like you won’t confess unless I beat you." He picked up a dagger, thought for a moment, put it down, then grabbed an electric baton, cranked the energy to the maximum and fiercely jabbed it into Li Xing’s shoulder.
The crackling electric current formed a silver web that enveloped Li Xing. The expected scream did not materialize, surprising Sun Wei a bit.
"Hmph, you really are a tough nut, with great endurance! Since that’s the case, enjoy it a little longer." 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
Such intense current—even a Thunder Attribute Elemental Spirit couldn’t withstand it for more than thirty seconds. Sun Wei wanted to see how long Li Xing could keep her mouth shut.
A minute later, Sun Wei finally turned off the electric baton, the current gradually dissipating, revealing a face that looked nonchalant, a chilly gaze fixed on him.
Li Xing’s clothes had several holes burned by the powerful current, and were overall yellowed, but her skin remained pale and delicate, not even a strand of hair out of place.
"This, how could..."
Li Xing had honed her skills to the stage of organ tempering; normal Heavenly Thunder couldn’t hurt her, let alone this level of electricity.
"Officer, aren’t you afraid of me reporting your private torture during the second interrogation?"
"No evidence, it’s just slander."
"Aren’t the wounds evidence?"
"Don’t worry, after I’m done, I’ll give you Healing Medicine. There’s a shop with Red Medicine that’s perfect for flesh wounds, hahaha!"
Sun Wei tossed aside the electric baton, picked out a whip full of barbs from the torture tools pile, and wordlessly lashed it toward Li Xing’s face.
"Snap"—the steel whip snapped, and the next second Sun Wei was lying flat on the ground, a foot wearing shackles planted on his chest.
Sun Wei felt the air in his lungs crushed out, his eyeballs bulging.
"You—how can it be..."
The interrogation chair had special interfaces for securing handcuffs and shackles, but now, where it should have been fixed, there appeared four holes, the broken ends gleaming coldly.
Li Xing squatted down, lifting a slender arm to examine the bulky handcuffs, and sneered with contempt:
"You must not have closely read the battle reports of the northern beast tide; even the hairy colossus I can swing away. A mere six-fold gravity, can it restrain me?"
Sun Wei could no longer speak, his chest being stomped, completely cutting off his breath, his face turning purple.
Often heard stories of prisoners attacking during interrogations; he thought such an event would never happen to him, yet it unfolded today.
Damn, is Li Xing a monster!
Li Xing extended a finger, slowly approaching Sun Wei’s eye. "You say, if I blind you in one eye, would anyone hold me accountable?"
The elegant jade finger was beautiful like a work of art, yet Sun Wei felt it scarier than any torture tool inside the Space Cabinet.
"Cough—cough cough!"
Li Xing revealed a beautiful yet dangerous smile: "I think not; since you lack evidence. Such a good opportunity wasted if not taken, how could I miss it, hmm?"
Sun Wei was terrified; interrogating Li Xing privately was against regulations. He had dismissed the guard soldiers and turned off the surveillance to evade accountability, unknowingly benefiting Li Xing.
Li Xing’s finger already touched Sun Wei’s eyelash; just a few millimeters forward and she’d make him a one-eyed dragon.
Sun Wei’s gaze slowly changed, just as the looming scarlet seemed to devour his sanity, the weight on his chest suddenly vanished.
The scarlet quickly dissipated, Sun Wei hadn’t realized his abnormality, reflexively looking up, only to find Li Xing sitting back on the interrogation chair, unperturbed.
Li Xing met his gaze innocently, as though everything just now was his illusion. If not for the footprint on his chest and the finger marks on the interface steel bars, he’d have believed it!
Sun Wei didn’t understand what madness overtook Li Xing, but the fear he’d just endured left him ashamed beyond measure; he grabbed the fallen whip, ready to strike again.
At that moment, the interrogation room door was kicked open from outside, and the next second Sun Wei was tossed against the wall like a leaf in a storm.
Sun Wei vomited a mouthful of fresh blood, caring more about how this person could barge into the interrogation room amidst his pain.
"Chu Yunyi?"
Not only was Sun Wei full of doubts, but Li Xing also seemed dazed, blankly watching, wondering: Why did he come?
"Cough cough!" Sun Wei wiped the blood from his mouth corner, quickly getting up, and shouted at Chu Yunyi, "Unprovoked assault on an officer, do you want to be handled by military law like her?"
Chu Yunyi ignored Sun Wei, swiftly approached Li Xing, scrutinized her from head to toe, and only when he was sure Li Xing wasn’t hurt did his tense shoulders somewhat relax.
As he unlocked her handcuffs, Chu Yunyi noticed the unusual steel bars, a glint of amusement in his eyes.
"Go with Zheng Qi first; I’ll come find you later."
In public, Li Xing reverted to her reticent demeanor, giving Chu Yunyi a deep look, then following Zheng Qi out of the interrogation room.
Zheng Qi was delighted to see Li Xing. He thought surely she would have tons of questions, yet Li Xing walked silently as if she didn’t recognize him all the way to the detention room.
The interrogation room door was violently destroyed; the soldiers responsible for security rushed over. Upon seeing the two inside, Su Minghe felt he’d offend superiors again.
Chu Yunyi gave Sun Wei a glance and coldly said, "You disobeyed military orders, tortured a suspect privately. My actions were to prevent you from further erring."
Sun Wei laughed angrily, "How to interrogate a prisoner is Second Army’s internal affairs; what’s it to you? What makes you so special!"
Su Minghe coughed, "General Sun, the commander issued a notice to all soldiers. From today, Major General Chu officially joins Second Army; he has the right to be involved in Second Army’s matters."
Sun Wei glared fiercely at Su Minghe, the latter raising his head even more, with an expression of "I’m just stating the facts".
"Chu Yunyi, don’t think that wearing a military uniform makes you part of Second Army. To blend in, follow the rules and obey orders, else you’ll be the first rafter to rot!"
"Then which order did General Sun follow for privately interrogating Li Xing, surely not the commander’s?"
"You—" Sun Wei was speechless; before so many soldiers, how could he respond?
"You assaulting a superior officer violently, disrupting order, damaging facilities, even as Major General, you must face consequences! Chu Yunyi, come with me to see the commander!"
Entering Jiang Yishan’s office again, Chu Yunyi glanced at Zhou Wu, who slightly nodded.
"Commander, Major General Chu displays great authority, disturbing the interrogation room and assaulting a superior on his first day; if unchecked, it’ll be chaos!"
Jiang Yishan looked at the blood-stained, disheveled Sun Wei and the returning Chu Yunyi, immediately understanding what happened, internally cursing Sun Wei as a fool!
He did hint to Sun Wei that if Li Xing wouldn’t speak, some extraordinary measures could be used. But this idiot wasn’t careful enough and let Chu Yunyi witness it! Besides, wasn’t Chu Yunyi gone, who allowed him to wander the fortress? They all gave him headaches!
"General Sun, who are you interrogating?"
"Li Xing."
Jiang Yishan feigned anger, slapping the table, and shouting, "Ridiculous! Li Xing’s questioning requires the Inspection Bureau and First Army to be present; what’s the meaning of your private interrogation!"
Seeing Jiang Yishan react this way, Sun Wei immediately understood the wily old fox preferred not to side with him before Chu Yunyi, much less disclose it was at his behest that Li Xing was interrogated.
His initial plan to complain, having Jiang Yishan confront Chu Yunyi, delivering him a slap in the face, fell through as Jiang Yishan took a neutral stance.
Higher rank dismisses lower; Sun Wei knew how awkward his situation was but couldn’t help but restrain his anger, accepting responsibility himself.
"Commander, I suddenly realized there was a critical question in the case, hence interrogating Li Xing. Rest assured, green interrogation, Li Xing is unharmed."
Jiang Yishan’s expression softened somewhat, "Considering your eagerness to solve the case, this time we’ll let it go. If there’s any more unauthorized interrogation, you won’t partake in this case."
"Yes!"
