I Became the Best Forensic Doctor After My Betrayal-Chapter 290 - Resolution
290 Resolution
Cheng Huo was also very perceptive and knew that this was his chance. He took the opportunity to hold Shen Yin’s hand, his eyes jeering and smug. “President Lian, I’m sorry. Excuse me.”
“Stop right there!”
Lian Jing instantly pushed Mo Ru away and glared at Shen Yin, who was about to leave with another man. “If you dare to leave, I’ll make you regret it.”
Shen Yin was also angry and now she lost her temper. She turned aside and glared at him coldly. Her gaze was so distant, it was as if they had never been in love. “President Lian, please show some self-respect. Don’t let Miss Mo wait too long. After all, her foot injury is troubling her.”
Lian Jing could not stand to listen to her nonsense. His eyes were fixed on her hand, that was still holding someone else’s hand. He frowned fiercely. “I’ll say it again. You’re not allowed to leave with him. Otherwise, I’ll make you regret your decision tonight.”
Not to be outdone, Shen Yin looked up and glared at him. She gritted her teeth and held back the tears that were about to fall from her eyes, not letting herself show any weakness. “I’ll say it again. Don’t let Miss Mo wait too long. Goodbye.”
With that, she allowed Cheng Huo to lead her to his car by the roadside. Her shoulders only relaxed when the car was far away from the club and she could no longer see the angry man at the door. Tears fell uncontrollably from her eyes, but she still covered her mouth tightly, not allowing herself to make any sound as she cried.
Cheng Huo’s heart ached as she cried. As he drove, he took out a tissue from the dashboard and stuffed it into her hand. “Don’t cry. A man like that is not worth your tears. Where do you want to go? I’ll send you there now.”
Where could she go?
Shen Yin laughed at herself. The Lian Family was the family she had always relied on, but now that she was suddenly chased out of the house, she had nowhere to stay.
In the vast sea of people, there was no place for her to lay her head.
“It doesn’t matter.” Shen Yin leaned back in her seat in a daze, staring blankly at the rapidly receding scenery outside the window.
Cheng Huo pursed his lips and said calmly, “Then I’ll bring you back to the Cheng house, okay?”
The woman in the front passenger seat was silent, like a dead thing that had lost its life. Cheng Huo knew that she was listening, it was just that her energy had been sapped. She did not even have the strength to speak.
He stopped asking for Shen Yin’s opinion and drove her home.
If Lian Jing wanted to look for her, he would eventually be able to find her. Only Cheng Huo’s home could be a temporary haven.
By the time they arrived, Cheng Luo was not yet back, so he brought Shen Yin to the guest room to settle her there.
He instructed the servants to go to his sister’s room to get new set of pajamas. Cheng Huo gently patted Shen Yin, who was still in shock. He sighed and advised, “Go take a shower first and then have a good sleep. Don’t let that man upset you anymore, okay?”
Shen Yin looked up at him steadily. Her tone was calm, but her gaze was frighteningly sinister. “Why did you show up there today?”
Cheng Huo’s heart skipped a beat, but he had already thought of an excuse. His lips curled into a bitter smile. “I was there with a few friends. Ever since I found out that you were with Lian Jing, I’ve often been there to drown my sorrows. Today, I went to the washroom before I even had a drink. I didn’t expect to see you in the corridor.”
That explained his coincidental apperance, and also told her how much he missed her.
Shen Yin lowered her eyes guiltily and did not probe further. She picked up her pajamas and nodded slowly. “Thank you for what you did today. If it weren’t for you, I’m afraid I would be in an even sorrier state.”
Cheng Huo knew when to retreat and hurriedly advised with a smile, “Alright, don’t think about him anymore. Stay here with me for now. If you need anything, tell me or the butler. I’ll do whatever you want.”
“Thank you.” Holding her pajamas, she wiped her tears and pushed open the bathroom door.
Outside the club, Lian Jing stared darkly in the direction in which Shen Yin and Cheng Huo had left. Suddenly, he turned around angrily and glared at Mo Ru. “Is this what you call a test?”
Mo Ru was in no hurry to explain. Instead, she batted her eyes innocently and asked, “Did Shen Yin ask you not to give me a lift? Did she say that she would not allow another women to be so close to you?”
Lian Jing frowned and clenched his fists.
Mo Ru continued, “When she left just now, she was very determined. She did not seem reluctant to leave you at all. I thought that Miss Shen cared about you, so I helped you test her. I didn’t expect her to react so coldly. She even left with a man she knew you hated. It seems that she really doesn’t love you as much as you think.”
She made the latter half of the sentence sound like a question, revealing her sympathy and disdain for the man.
“Shut up.” Lian Jing’s sinister eyes stared at her without blinking. He punched the car door. His fist whistled past her face, causing her fringe to sway.
