Chapter 18: Chapter 18: Change of plans

Alden stood in the middle of the fifth floor trial, his mind calm and focused. He summoned his status window, the translucent panel glowing softly in front of him. The numbers and details were a testament to his growth, and he couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction.

Alden's eyes widened as he read through the details. Oh, I unlocked another ability on my SSS Skill, Dimensional Storage.

He nodded in approval, feeling the unique energy coursing through him. With a slight gesture, he opened a small rift in space, revealing a pocket dimension. With my current level and abilities, I can qualify as Earth's last boss.

High above, on the 100th floor the Divine Realm, the gods convened in their grand council chamber. The air was thick with divine energy, and the atmosphere was both serene and tense.

Zeus leaned back on his throne, his thunderbolt crackling in his hand. "The mortals are back. It's been six months since they last entered the tower. I almost forgot we anchored a world."

Poseidon chuckled, his trident glowing faintly. "They're like ants, scurrying about. But some of them show promise."

Hades, the God of the Underworld, sat in silence, his dark eyes focused on the fifth floor. His expression was unreadable, but the tension in the room was palpable. Suddenly, Hades' eyes flared with anger at what he saw on the fifth floor. "What is your saint planning to do to mine, Astron?"

His outburst grabbed the attention of the other gods, their gazes snapping back to the fifth floor. They exchanged amused glances, finding the growing tension between Astron and Hades entertaining.

Hades turned to Astron, his voice seething with anger. "Stop your saint, Astron. This is unacceptable!"

Astron remained calm, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. "Sorry, out of divinity. Can't, won't do."

Alden stood in front of Hiroshi, who was now in tatters and bleeding on the ground, his breath ragged and uneven. The once brave climber's eyes were red with anger and betrayal, his body trembling from both exhaustion and the emotional weight of Alden's actions. Hiroshi's voice, though weak, held a sharp edge of desperation as he managed to ask, "How, Alden? Why?"

Alden looked down at Hiroshi with an expression as cold and unyielding as the hardest stone. His eyes, devoid of any warmth or compassion, bore into Hiroshi's with a chilling indifference. "You've served your purpose, Hiroshi," Alden began, his tone devoid of emotion. "I was planning for a more grand ending, something fitting for the tenth floor or even higher. A climactic showdown that would be remembered a hero who sacrificed himself for the sake of humanity."

He paused, letting the weight of his words hang in the air, his gaze never wavering from Hiroshi's. "But that's a pain in the ass," Alden continued, his voice growing sharper. "Honestly, it's more efficient to end it here and now."

Alden's lips curled into a faint, sarcastic smile. "So, ugh, I forgot, talking too much is a doom flag for a villain, right?" he added with a mocking tone, his words dripping with sarcasm. "Guess I should just get to the point."

Alden crouched down, his cold eyes fixed on Hiroshi's. He extended a finger and gently pressed it to the middle of Hiroshi's forehead. Hiroshi's eyes widened, a mix of fear and confusion crossing his face.

"Goodbye, you can now meet that bitch of yours in cringeland," Alden whispered, his voice carrying the finality of a death sentence. "Rebound."
