I can expand my MAGIC ENDLESSLY?!-Chapter 17: Dark knight
Kairos’s mind raced, piecing together fragments of the past. The figure standing before him wasn’t just any shadow user he was the Dark Knight, a living legend from Kairos’s past. The sole figure who destroyed the Aurean kingdom.
The maniac who was so obsessed with strength and vengeance that he almost ended up betraying the human side.
Kairos clenched his sword tighter, trying to steady his breath. His heart pounded. In this moment, Kairos couldn’t be sure which version of the man stood before him.
Why is he here? Did he already lose his family? Or did it not happen yet?
In his past life, he had the chance to meet him once when he came to challenge him to a duel. The outcome was a loss in every possible aspect.
"Hm, interesting. You know that name? I thought I surpassed that information," he spoke, waving his hands as the chains retreated. A few magical sigils appeared on them for a split second before the chains transformed into swords devoid of any distinguishing features, completely black like obsidian.
In that instant, the aura surrounding him increased, forcing Kairos to tighten his grip on his sword and prepare for what was to come.
And then a blinding surge of energy erupted from the Dark Knight, and he vanished into a cloud of darkness, leaving behind an echo of laughter that sent chills down Kairos’s spine.
Without warning, the Dark Knight reappeared above him, descending like a ravenous predator as an evil smile appeared on that darkened mask.
Aiming straight for Kairos’s heart. It was mental suppression caused by those who are above the fourth star of Aura mastery.
Time seemed to slow as Kairos’s instincts kicked in, his body moving before his mind could catch up.
With a swift motion, he raised his sword to block the incoming attack, coating the sword with a hint of purple. It was a Nullification sigil.
Clank, clank!
The impact reverberates through him like a shockwave. But his aura withstood it all.
Bang!
The clash of their weapons sent a burst of energy surging through the air, the force of the blow causing a shockwave that rattled the ground beneath them. Kairos staggered back, his feet digging into the earth as he fought to maintain his balance against the overwhelming force of the strike.
"Impressive reflexes!" the Dark Knight taunted, his voice echoing through the chaos. "But reflexes alone won’t save you!"
Then again, he disappeared in dark shadows. And afterimages started appearing from here to there.
"Be on guard. I will start!"
With a loud shout. Dark Knight appeared right In front of him, slashing his swords right at his neck, as magical sigils continued to hover beside him in his aura field.
Bang!
Their swords collided once again. This time the impact was stronger.
Kairos gritted his teeth, realizing he has to use everything he has. As his opponent just started using enchantments of 1st circle.
"Haha, good. Now let’s see how you do against absolute speed."
Kairos barely had time to process the change before the Dark Knight was upon him again, a blur of an image of him. Their swords clashed repeatedly, the sound ringing out.
With every impact, Kairos felt the vibration travel through his body. Even threatening to collapse the golem’s aura nodes that were stabilizing his body from such vibrations.
Small cuts began to appear on his skin, thin lines of red marking where the Dark Knight’s sword had nearly found its mark. Kairos’s breathing became ragged; he was losing the battle of attrition.
"Too slow!" the Dark Knight taunted.
Kairos could only grit and withstand them all and slowly accumulating Aura back and forth within the knots all over his body. Using magic is out of line. He could only use the nullification sigil as for the rest, he can’t because they need spell zone and concentration. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
His vision also started getting darker, giving him a deadly reminder. His opponent was using sigils at the same time, most probably the "Avatar sigil" of the 4th circle, which affects the surroundings depending on the imbued element.
Each time their swords met, Kairos felt his resolve wane slightly, the cracks in his Amadan steel sword deepening with each parry. He had to end it soon or injure his opponent enough to gain a few seconds of delay so that he could escape.
Meanwhile,
"Really interesting. This kid has already surpassed Nolen in terms of reaction speed," the Dark Knight thought as he slowly controlled his strength to avoid serious harm.
"Why does his aura continue to increase? Is his potential simultaneously growing?"
The answer was that he didn’t know. He hadn’t seen such a thing or technique in his entire life. He had seen it before—him training and destroying arrows with a sudden burst of aura.
"The library doesn’t have such a technique. Did someone teach him? I see... That must be the case."
Bang! Bang!
"His sword won’t last long. I think I should stop," he initially thought, but he couldn’t look away from those eyes.
The eyes that were predicting and calculating everything. He knew those eyes very well.
"A hidden card. I see, I see. I want to see it!"
