I can expand my MAGIC ENDLESSLY?!-Chapter 19: Academy
Lucian stood up, with a proud smile on his face, looking at his son.
"I was quite shocked when you all of a sudden started using Aura. And today you awakened your soul gear too."
Kairos didn’t open his mouth, his heart pounding. In that moment, the weight of his past life, his current struggle, and the realization of his father’s true power all hit him at once.
His mind started racing with many possibilities. He had to meet this person and defeat him for the treasure! But who would have thought it was his father?
Yes, he had to meet this person for an item he has. But not like this!
But then more realization sank in, upon remembering something, he uttered again, "What am I then?"
Lucian, who was still proud of his son, was in a great mood and came closer, patting his shoulder.
"Don’t worry. If you want to keep your powers hidden, I can do that too. But hear this, son. I’m really proud of you!"
Kairos looked up at him, suppressing the thoughts for now. "Thank you, Father," Kairos spoke before looking down at the thing he was holding on to. It was his sole gear!
Lucian followed his eyes and also looked down at the sword. The sword had halted firm despite his attack head-on.
"Yes, that’s your soul gear! It is quite powerful." 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
Kairos also agreed for the moment. But before he could dwell further, the grip on his shoulder increased.
Kairos also became serious and unknowingly gulped down a mouthful of saliva.
"What was the technique you used to intensify your aura? Who taught you?" he asked seriously.
Kairos’ heart skipped a beat. The forbidden technique he had just used wasn’t something taught to him in this life.
Still, it would be a lie if he wasn’t prepared for such questions. And he opened his mouth.
"Someone taught me at my last visit to the Capital," Kairos spoke.
His father gazed at him and became more serious, but before the situation escalated further, Kairos opened his mouth.
"Don’t worry, Father. This technique isn’t something harmful," Kairos spoke, already expecting not to convince him. But instead of questioning further, his father said,
"Alright, I won’t dive deeply into that. Everyone has their secrets I could only hope...."
And then, before he could react, his father put his hand on his chest, and a small sigil appeared on his hand, activating and spreading a soothing sensation throughout his body.
"Good... it’s not a demonic technique. That’s what matters," Lucian spoke, taking a step back.
"Come, freshen up, and get ready for breakfast. I will keep your powers a secret."
Kairos let out a breath he hadn’t realized he was holding as Lucian turned away. But hearing what his father had said made him sigh in relief again.
He gazed at the departing figure. "Who am I then?"
The Dark Knight was a figure fueled by vengeance, having lost the entire Dukedom of Dravenhart in the Aurean Empire in the battle for the throne.
At the Seven Crest Alliance, in the Frontline section, it was a well-known fact to everyone that the Dark Knight had lost his only son and wife—there was no second son.
"But now here I am... he’s got a second son, Kairos Nozvan," Kairos muttered.
A person who never existed, yet here he was, inhabiting this body. The more he thought, the more he realized how naive he had been to believe everything would be the same as in the past, despite witnessing an example of a brand-new empire.
Whatever he did from here on would change the future and the fates around him. No—the fates had already started changing long ago.
"Haha, so what? Isn’t my goal to change the fates of others and the world to begin with?"
He laughed, realizing he didn’t even have to care about the past. Whatever the case had been, he had to change the future no matter what.
Later that night, at the dining hall.
"Congratulations, Kairos, you have finally awakened your soul gear." His mother spoke with a bright smile as always.
"Yes, it was quite strong too. I used my soul gear too. He will be quite strong in the future." Lucian spoke with a delighted mood.
Kairos laughed it off. But not everyone was in such a happy mood. Right opposite him was a person with a cold expression, not caring about the conversation and enjoying the meal.
It was his brother, Nolen Nozvan. Unlike him, who has red hair, he has silky black hair just like his father but eyes of red just like his mother.
This brother of his is quite weird too. He doesn’t care about anything and trains like a madman that he hears from the guards.
He’s quite a genius too. A cadet at the renowned MILITARY Academy [Aegis]. Soon to be promoted as a team leader despite being only twenty two.
"I think Kairosshould be able to enroll at the Military Academy now." His mother spoke, this time even gaining some attention from his big brother.
He glanced at him for a moment and said, "He qualifies."
His father nodded. "What do you think, son? Ready to enroll at the Aegis next year?"
Kairos shook his head, scratching the back of his neck. "Not yet, Father. I think I still need more training."
"Haha, don’t worry. I’ll personally train you before the year’s over. You’ll be ready in no time."
Kairos smiled and nodded. "Then I’ll be counting on you, Father."
"What will I do without you here, Kairos?" His mother spoke.
"Don’t worry, Mother, I will come visit you frequently," Kairos spoke.
His mother nodded. "Yes, please do. Unlike someone who didn’t come home for a whole two years."
His brother, who was eating, calmly reacted a little. "I was training Mother."
"Yeah, yeah, training."
Kairos laughed as the dinner continued. And soon he was heading for his room. On the outside he agreed with them. But inside he was already planning on escaping this place.
The military academy [Aegis] they are referring to is the academy that trains battle combatants to fend off the never-ending monsters at the outer edges of the continent. Which includes demons and dark mages that were exiled.
The Velmor kingdom was located right beside the Zarkan Empire. Latching on to the Eastern Frontline.
The strongest frontline of the continent fending off the monsters of the seas and defending the continent from the apocalypse-named monster
’Wrench’
Eastern Frontline also holds the Aegis Military Academy. One of the two greatest academies present on the continent. Training combatants to defend the front lines.
Also the place that he spent most of his life in his last life. It’s a place that gives practical battle experience, giving explosive growth. A perfect place for those who are seeking strength. But Kairos wasn’t planning to go there. He would get stronger for sure. But in this life there’s something different, he has mana now.
Not to mention reaching his old heights isn’t enough for this life for the burdens he carries. He has to surpass that, and for that, he has to take the path of magic more seriously. And to archive that, He has to enroll at the [Owsdin Academy of Magic] no matter what.
Considering how their bloodline works, it’s not a surprise for him to see his family wants him at the military academy. He tried convincing them, but nothing worked.
Which leads him to one path only. It was to leave this place and get himself admitted at the Owsdin Academy himself.
He sighed and fell down onto the bed. "I have to prepare to leave this place soon."
"The Owsdin Academy is quite far from here; it will take me months before I reach it."
Yes, the Owsdin Academy was not just far, the path was also quite dangerous. As unlike the military academy, which is located at the frontline. The Owsdin Academy is located at the Hundred Thousand Mountains in the middle zone.
He has to thoroughly prepare for the journey and the unfinished stuff he has to do. Before he leaves this place.
"So he was the Dark Knight," Kairos muttered, recalling that fateful battle.
"So everyone had their own circumstances after all."
In his previous life, the Dark Knight had rarely spoken, his voice cold, his eyes lifeless behind that mask. Almost no one ever approached him except him on rare occasions.
That was why seeing him now felt so strange. Cheerful, almost warm, though still carrying a quiet reserve.
It’s obvious what changed him,Losing the family might have changed him completely, putting his own self in the cage.
Kairos sighed, reaching out his hand towards the ceiling slowly. His soul gear formed, shimmering a little in the dark with a hint of purple behind its dark exterior.
New things are slowly unveiling themselves. He wondered how much he doesn’t know about this world. Still, that didn’t matter his goal of gaining strength remained the same.
