I can expand my MAGIC ENDLESSLY?!-Chapter 43: The Sigil Library and the senior
Before him stood a massive building, stretching sideways like a great wall. That was how enormous the library was.
The Grand Archive, a place containing the dreams, sweat, and history of countless magicians and warriors.
Before its wide white gates stood the most eyecatching sight of all.
Two identical statues of knights stood guard, each holding a shield and spear. Gazing towards the sky.
Their height is far more than the library itself.
Kairos glanced up at them as he walked toward the gate.
’Damn..they’re huge.’
The statues, as one might guess, were far more terrifying than ordinary decorations.
They were paragons. Actual real Paragons.
The sheer size of those things alone made that clear.
Kairos stopped in his tracks. But these weren’t the only Paragons that terrified him.
Deep within the academy existed another monstrosity, far smaller than these.
Yet far more terrifying. If he had to put it into words. These massive statues were like old models. While the other one was the latest weapon modern magic had created.
"A weapon for humanity, they said," Kairos murmured with a faint scoff.
More like a weapon for dark mages.
Casting one last glance at the towering statues, he stepped into the library.
’I can’t let them take it.
And to stop that... I have to be here’
Students, cadets, and professors flowed in and out of the library. Kairos, taking a deep breath, also stepped in, taking it all.
The library seemed quiet from the outside, but within there’s nothing quiet. Cadets and all kinds of people rush from here to there holding the books.
As for the library itself. It scratched upward with a spiraling staircase.
Rows after rows of bookshelves stood organized. People of various ages can be seen standing and inputting mana on the small crystal.
He felt surreal seeing it. His hand couldn’t help but shake a little. What they were doing was to get a glimpse of the sigils. Manifesting in front of them a little.
The books holding the grimoires and the research. As the mercenary king, many renowned books of mages and the research of the heroes of the past came into his hands.
But he never had the chance to peer at them. He was unworthy to be deemed as one.
Rows of rows of books stood within the shelves. He wandered around aimlessly. This was it. He can access them now. The very thing, despite having the immense wealth, he couldn’t have in his last life.
He didn’t know which book would help, nor was there anyone who would guide him.
’I will look for it myself then.’
Eh?
Just then, someone slammed into him.
-Bam
causing him to fall down.
"Who?..." Kairos uttered in annoyance. His gaze climbed up the fair legs, then the skirt, then all the way to the face.
It was a girl with deep purple hair. Before he looked at her chest, there was a red badge attached to her coat.
A cadet!
Kairos found himself locking eyes with a girl who was slightly older than him, holding a stack of books. She had vibrant purple hair and was wearing a blue badge.
She reached out her hand towards him. Buckling down a little.
"A new student?" She asked.
Kairos nodded his head. "Yes, I just arrived today." Taking the hand.
"I’m sorry about that, senior," Kairos spoke politely. The person reached her hand towards this much courtesy he could at least do.
She looked at him, giving a deep look. "New student, huh?... First time at the library?"
Kairos nodded, "Yes, Senior."
Giving a small nod, she turned around. "Come follow me; I will buy you some books."
Kairos was clearly not expecting that and was taken aback. But he also knew nothing was free in this world.
"No need, senior, I can..."
She stopped him from speaking further. "Good ones are expensive; your measly one hundred credit coins won’t get you anything."
Kairos wanted to speak but stopped. He wasn’t aware of the prices in the Owsdin Academy.
One hundred Owsdin credit points were something outside the world. But it seems here in the Grand Archive it was nothing.
"Yes, senior, thank you."
Nodding pleased with him, she turned around, leading him deeper into the library.
"I’m Diana Minavel of the Owsdin."
Kairos paused, hearing where she was from, before answering. "Kairos Nozvan of the Velmor, a barony household."
While he was thinking, "So it’s pride, huh? "That’s why she’s buying me things? " The Owsdins! The very descendants of the founder of magic. The very first mages of the world.
’Each of them was arrogant and prideful. And deemed themselves as superiors.’
But he wouldn’t be denying it. He has far more things to consider than to be annoyed by this.
"Oh, someone from the Velmor. I thought the majority go to the military academy rather than here." She spoke before stopping, standing in front of a shelf at the far side of the first floor.
Not many could be seen in this section. Kairos gave a glance at the grimoires and rolled up parchments.
"I choose to be here."
Hearing that, she didn’t seem to care before pulling out a book from the shelf. Handing it to him.
They were at similar heights despite the seniority. Making this kind of attitude odd to him.
She wasn’t even glancing at him, handing him the book. Still though, he took it. Giving it a glance.
"That’s one of the few books you would find here, based on the variants of the lightning element. You have red lightning, if I’m correct."
Kairos nodded, "Yes, senior," and gave it a glance.
The book was simple looking and also quite worn out too. The title was also rather straight forward.
[Lightning of Different Kinds]
"That has the most basic concept of the lightning element."
"Yes, thank you, Senior." Kairos bowed a little bit more, seeing the price tag on it.
It was whopping 500 credit points. He only has 100 of them!.
She was pleased seeing it. But it didn’t show on her face. She pondered and started pulling out another expensive book.
"This would help you to"
"And this would too. Supplementing your arsenal."
Kairos could only nod and thank her. The number of books piled up already is three.
Then she paused, glancing at the side. Seeing her looking. The person who came forward was a girl with dark blue hair, almost reaching his height.
Kairos’s eyes flickered a bit.
’That hair...’
She walked forward, bowing down, forward.
"I’m the daughter of Duke Alistair. Ama barling."
Before she turned her head around. "It’s a pleasure to meet you too. Kairos of the nozvan"
