I Can Only Cultivate In A Game-Chapter 240: Worldbreaker Centipede
Chapter 240: Worldbreaker Centipede
There was a brief pause before Brin coughed.
Tarkos nodded slowly. "Then let’s do this."
Coordinates lit up on the map interface.
The blinking marker was still at the edge of the floating ridge zone, carved into a crescent formation of stone.
(( Roughly Three Hours Later... ))
They arrived at the location Vortex and Juno described.
The tall and cavern entrance was embedded in the side of a weathered cliff like the mouth of a sleeping giant.
Deep grooves were etched the stone around it, almost like claw marks or ancient symbols long eroded by time.
Victor eyes narrowed as he came to a pause. "This is it."
ZackVortex and Juno emerged from behind a rock formation nearby.
"Are we really going back in?" Vortex questioned with a tensed look.
Victor nodded. "We’re not leaving without them."
"Well, I was just itching to teach those bastards a lesson anyways," Juno stated with an intense expression while pulling out his spear.
The team of six—Victor, Tarkos, Aeri Fan, Brin, Juno, and Vortex— proceeded to scale the rough incline as swiftly as they could.
Victor landed silently atop the ridge and surveyed the eerie cavern entrance.
The massive maw of stone jutted out from the mountain face. Its teeth-like rocks curved inward as though the cave itself had long grown tired of swallowing the uninvited.
With Tarkos present, the oppressive aura of the place seemed more manageable.
Every time Tarkos moved, his tattoos shifted across his skin like molten metal like it had a mind of its own.
"This is the place?" Aeri Fan asked softly while pulling out a blade.
Victor nodded. "Let’s go."
Together, the group dove into the cavern.
Inside, the tunnels pulsed with a sickly crimson glow, as if the walls themselves were alive.
From deeper within, strange rhythmic chants echoed like some ancient hymn being repeated endlessly by beings who had long forgotten its meaning.
Soon, the humanoid creatures emerged swiftly from side tunnels, looking as grotesque and inhuman as ever.
They were covered in bone-like armor and sinewy muscle. But this time, the players weren’t outnumbered and more importantly, they weren’t outclassed.
Tarkos charged forward like a scythe through grain. His body emitted a dull glow as the tattoos on his arms crawled down to his hands and then extended outwards, forming an Inky blade of pure qi.
With a roar, he swung, cleaving three of the humanoids in half. Blood and bone sprayed the walls.
Vortex and Juno eyes widened. They had struggled with dealing heavy damage due to how sturdy the skin of these strange humanoids were. Yet, Tarkos had just cleaved three in half with a single swing.
"I like this dude," Juno voiced before throwing his spear into the eye of one of the incoming humanoid beings.
Victor shadow blinked behind a creature before plunging his sword into its spine.
Aeri Fan ignited a serpent-shaped stream of fire that lashed out in a wide arc, engulfing two more and forcing others to scatter.
Vortex threw out poisonous daggers and small pins that hissed across the air like comets.
Each one buried itself in a skull, detonating a second later with refined qi compression techniques.
"Push forward!" Victor barked.
They bulldozed through wave after wave, barely slowing.
With six well-coordinated players and a cultivator like Tarkos among them, the difference in outcome was obvious.
Even when any of the strange humanoids appeared out of nowhere and attacked any of the player’s blind spot, someone from the team would intercept.
They all perfectly had each other’s back.
At last, they burst into a larger chamber.
This one was high-domed and filled with chanting. In the center of the room, tied to stone slabs, were Xuan Qing and Mirael who were both battered, but conscious.
"Fang Chen!" Xuan Qing’s voice broke across the din.
Victor rushed to her and sliced the restraints with ease. Mirael was already struggling to get up with her bruised and slightly bloodied body.
Brin pulled out an elixir from his storage ring and handed it to her.
After consuming it, her Qi reserves got party restored.
"You came for me," Xuan Qing muttered breathlessly.
"Oh well, I wouldn’t want your father hunting me all across the continent," Victor responded while offering his hand. "Now let’s get the hell out of here—"
However, at this same moment, the strange humanoid creatures leader who was grey skinned and draped in bones and feathers, suddenly appeared from one of the corridors.
He stepped forward with his face etched in primitive runes and ceremonial scars. He began making rhythmic, guttural sounds as his voice rose into a strange incantation.
Several of the others followed, forming a half-circle and pounding their fists on the cavern floor.
The stone trembled.
Victor turned. "What are they—"
Then the east wall cracked.
A terrible sound following a mixture of crumbling rock, groaning metal, and the echo of something ancient stirred.
The wall exploded inward.
A massive beast suddenly emerged.
It was easily four stories tall with a body that slithered like a millipede but armored like a rhinoceros.
Its segmented body was covered in obsidian-like plating that gleamed with red veins of qi.
Six blood-red eyes blinked in sequence as its mandibles opened with a wet hiss.
Its aura crashed down on the chamber like a tidal wave.
<[ WARNING: Rank 3 Beast — Worldbreaker Centipede ]>
<[ Difficulty Level: Impossible ]>
<[ Recommendation: FLEE IMMEDIATELY ]>
The system notifications hit everyone’s interface at once.
"RUN!" Victor shouted.
The team didn’t need to be told twice.
It was the first time they were coming into contact with a spirit beast that the game system deemed impossible for their current level of strength.
The chamber erupted into chaos.
Tarkos led the charge, commanding his tattoos to form an armor as he bulldozed through the humanoid creatures trying to block their way. "Stay close!"
The Worldbreaker Centipede screame with such intensity that rattled the cavern itself and caused some parts to cave.
It reared up and slammed its massive front half into the ground. The impact cracked the floor and sent shockwaves through the corridors, sending chunks of debris flying.
Aeri Fan summoned a wall of fire to slow the beast, but it burst through with ease, unaffected due to its armor absorbing the flames.
Mirael launched three explosive arrows behind them, detonating the cavern wall to slow pursuit. "Go, go, go!"
Victor grabbed Xuan Qing and Shadow-Blinked forward, reappearing several meters ahead where the tunnel narrowed into a winding passage. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
Juno groaned in annoyance and dashed around a pillar like stone with his spear slightly pointed forward.
As the creature passed by, he appeared from its blind spot and activated one of his most powerful spear cultivation techniques.
"Explosive star... Cosmic ripples!" A burst of Qi surrounded his spear as it turned into an afterimage while he thrust it at the rear of the creature.
The thrust was so powerful that silver rings of energy surrounded the spear as it traveled across the air and even caused chunks of rocks to blast apart in the surroundings even without making physical contact with them.
Boom!
A loud explosive echo rang out as it slammed into the creature from behind, stirring up a cloud of dust.
Everyone saw how powerful that attack was and expected the beast to be at least injured which would give them some leverage.
However...
"Arrrghhhh!"
Loud bone cracking sounds rang out as a humanoid figure was sent flying out of the cloud of dust.... and it was none other than Juno.
His fingers looked twisted in impossible angles and his spear clattered beside his battered avatar.
As the cloud settled, there was not even a single scratch on the body of the Worldbreaker Centipede.
It was completely unaffected by a very powerful attack from a Nascent Soul Realm cultivator.
It turned around and swung it’s slithering rear at Juno who was down.
Fwwhii~
Tarkos appeared between them and raised his arm to guard Juno as his tattoos formed an armor.
Bang!
His legs dug into the floor as he slid seven to nine paces back but managed to block the attack.
Brin sped towards Juno side and grabbed him while the creature was distracted and then pulled him forward.
Tarkos groaned as the Worldbreaker Centipede’s blade like rear pushed harder and began cracking through his armoured tattoos.
He gritted his teeth and swiftly redirected the blow to the side by spinning.
Bang!
The creature’s rear rammed into the floor, causing that part to crumble and cave while Tarkos leapt into the air and front flipped twice.
With his arm arched, the tattoos formed am Inky gauntlet around his arm as he swung his fist in a descending arc towards the beast.
Boom!
His fist rammed into the Worldbreaker Centipede’s back, causing it to buckle and fall on its belly.
Web like cracks spread out from the point of impact as Tarkos waited not even a second before jumping forward with speed to catch up with the others.
"You got it, shouldn’t we..."
Juno was about to suggest pressing the attack but Tarkos yelled; "Run!"
