I Can Program My Body?-Chapter 584: Barrier Collapse
Soon, the hour of doomsday arrived.
As the barrier that had shielded them slowly crumbled, everyone felt their hearts lurch.
From the civilians to the cosmic elites, not a single person moved from their post.
On the Void Pulse, Nash quickly relayed orders for everyone to hold their positions and stay sharp.
A few days prior, well before the barrier fell, everyone had already moved into place.
The plan was straightforward: let the battleships and defensive weapons handle the tier 6, 7, and 8 dark beasts, while the elites cleaned up the rest.
They would still be facing a swarm, but the pressure would be manageable.
It also preserved the battleships’ firepower and weapons, allowing them to focus entirely on the heavy threats without letting anything slip through.
Then, just as everyone locked into their positions, the energy holding the barrier together snapped.
Like a balloon finally giving way, a shockwave of dense void energy rippled outward in every direction, pulling dark beasts toward them from all sides.
Before the swarm even reached them, the tier 8 battleships surged forward with their fleets in tow.
Locking onto every high-tier dark beast in sight, the slaughter began.
Meanwhile, as the lower-tier dark beasts passed through, the cosmic elites and the army assembled from civilians stood their ground without flinching.
Facing wave after wave, the cosmic elites, having lived through similar scenes in the early stages of the cosmic competition, calmly face everything.
They drew their weapons and got to work, cutting through each dark beast with mechanical efficiency, spending no more energy than necessary.
The Star Alliance members, on the other hand, were far more aggressive.
With the runic system backing them, their combat ability far exceeded what the Xenus Alliance members could manage on their own.
It wasn’t that their raw strength was higher; it was that their efficiency was.
From the Disguise Module that hid them from the dark beasts’ senses.
The Analysis Module that identified the dark beast’s weaknesses in an instant.
The Communication Module that kept them coordinated without a word spoken.
The Map Module that tracked the position of every enemy and ally in real time.
The Sensing Module that cut through the chaos and pinpointed targets with precision.
The Adaptive Module that adjusted their bodies to an optimal condition to resist any environmental hazards.
And most critically, the Recovery Module that kept their fatigue from accumulating, pulling them back from the edge before they could break down.
They even had soul points to immediately restore expended energy mid-battle.
With the sheer volume of runic commands they had built up over the past, most had full access to the capability of the universal runic system.
Even if they just receive the runic system, their progress in runic command would be almost complete.
Just a little effort, and they could use every module in the runic system.
"How are you doing that? Is it some kind of genetic ability?" Barnes from the Curu Domain finally asked, unable to hold back any longer.
The others nearby stopped what they were doing, hoping to catch the answer.
"Doing what?"
"That! The disguises, the coordination, the senses, and whatever it is that’s keeping you energized despite fighting this long!"
"Genetic ability? We can’t all share the same genetic ability, can we?" Ellis gestured to the others around him.
"Fair enough. Then what? A secret technique? A potion? A shelter ability?"
"It’s the genetic ability of our Alliance Leader, Commander Nash."
"I see. I heard Commander Nash had the greatest auxiliary ability in the Chronos Empire, I didn’t expect it could reach this far."
"Can we have it too?"
Watching the Star Alliance fight with that kind of ease and efficiency, their envy was hard to hide.
If they had the same power, clearing these dark beasts would be a completely different story.
"Sure. I’ll share it with you." Ellis nodded without hesitation.
On the communication panel, he’d already seen a flood of inquiries from other cosmic elites across the allied teams.
Ellis saw that others had already relayed the matter to their commander, which had permitted them to share the runic system with others.
"Really? Any conditions? Side effects? Does it cost anything?" The skepticism was written all over their faces.
They didn’t believe something this powerful came without a catch.
Even if there were no negative effects, just maintaining access would drain enough energy on its own.
"Don’t worry. Your leaders already agreed to cover the subscription fee with Commander Nash." Ellis reassured them.
"Perfect. What do we need to do?"
"Clear the dark beasts in front of us first."
Connecting to the runic system wasn’t fast, and it couldn’t handle interruptions.
If they didn’t clear the immediate pressure first, the link would break mid-process, and the whole attempt would be wasted.
Understanding this, they began actively clearing the dark beast with renewed vigor.
Soon, as hours passed, bit by bit, they carved out enough breathing room.
"Alright. Can we begin now?" Barnes asked.
"Sure."
Gathering his subordinates, Ellis had everyone begin the connection process for those nearby.
The moment it took hold, a panel materialized in their vision.
Already briefed on how it works during the mid-battle, they quickly familiarize themselves with the panel.
"It’s not fully unlocked..."
Seeing their runic command progress sitting at only fifteen percent, a few faces fell.
It meant they had access to Communication, Map, Analysis, Library, and Disguise, but Recovery, Adaptive, and Sensing were still locked out.
"Don’t complain. You’re very lucky you can have this without any work." Ellis shook his head with a sigh.
When Ellis first had the runic system, he couldn’t access anything and had to carve each runic program first.
Meanwhile, they were directly handed advance access; how could they still grumble?
"But why are the others at thirty or seventy percent?" Barnes asked, scanning various comments on the communication module.
"It’s just the difference in our runic structure. Teams closer to the Solaris Domain are naturally more compatible."
Most of the runic commands they uploaded came from the Solaris Domain.
Because of factors such as energy concentration, environmental conditions, and regional variables, their underlying runic structures differed.
"If you want to progress faster, you’ll have to put in some work on the runic engraving."
