I Can Recognize Everything, But the Information is Wrong-Chapter 2 - What a Gluttonous Beast
Chapter 2: Chapter 2 What a Gluttonous Beast
The old man seriously doubted whether what he had eaten was the Qi Condensing Grass. Had he really eaten the wrong thing?
Tian Lin also doubted whether what he had eaten was the Qi Condensing Grass, as he still vividly remembered the words 'beef buns' that appeared on the cow dung.
But if what he ate wasn't the Qi Condensing Grass, why hadn't he been poisoned? Why did he feel like his strength had increased?
The old man had scratched all night, and by the next day, he was utterly drained.
"Stinky boy, just go. We're about to reach the Yao Yue Sect, and you can't give up. Just leave me be, dead or alive."
The old man said weakly, his gaze trying to pierce through the window pane that looked onto the wooden railing, hoping to see the sky outside.
"Alright, you stay here."
Tian Lin got up to leave, but after only a couple of steps, his ankles were grabbed hold of.
The old man was crying and sniveling under him, hiccupping: "Stinky boy, are you really going to leave me behind all alone?"
He said: "Have you forgotten that along the way, we supported each other? Have you forgotten that together, we were bullied by others, but we found warmth in our companionship?"
Tian Lin pulled his foot from the old man's grasp and walked out of the woodshed.
Inside the woodshed, wails as though tearing the throat poured out soon after: "Stinky kid, I can't be without you, what am I supposed to do without you?"
Tian Lin couldn't bear it anymore, stopped in his tracks, and shouted back: "Please, keep it down, don't attract wolves. In these wilds, if the two of us encounter wolves, we wouldn't know how we'd die."
But the old man continued to sob uncontrollably, and Tian Lin simply stopped paying attention to him.
He picked up his bamboo rod and once again approached the patch of cow dung by the door.
[Broken Beef Buns: Can effectively replenish energy and relieve hunger; safe to use.]
Tian Lin clicked his tongue in wonder, looking at the dung.
Whether it was beef buns before him or cow dung seemed like a philosophical question.
Tian Lin thought back and forth for a long time, and despite looking for a long while, he lacked the courage to eat.
He jabbed the bamboo rod into the cow dung and then continued up the slope.
The Qi Condensing Grass wasn't rare in the wilderness because not only were humans disinclined to eat it, but so were animals like cows, sheep, and rabbits, which all avoided it.
Tian Lin was fairly certain that what he ate was the Herb, based on his predecessor's experiences and the trust in the old man's decades of experience.
He couldn't figure out why eating the Herb had no effect on him, while it would poison the old man.
Perhaps it was because the 'prompt' identified it as Qi Condensing Grass, hence eating it had the effect of consuming the Qi Condensing Grass.
Just like the cow dung, which the prompt indicated was 'beef buns', if he ate it, it was as if he was eating beef buns.
But the old man didn't have such 'prompts', so for him, the Herb was just the Herb, and the dung was just dung.
Eh, why did he keep thinking about cow dung?
Probably, he was genuinely hungry.
The whole morning, Tian Lin collected wild vegetables.
Having filled himself halfway with the Herb, he found a small stream.
After a day and a night without drinking, Tian Lin scooped up some stream water; its sweet and refreshing taste invigorated his spirit.
He then fixed his disheveled hair in front of his forehead using the stream and observed his dirt-covered reflection on the water's surface.
"If I don't Seek Immortality, where should I go? I know no one in this world, and my predecessor has left his hometown for seven or eight years."
Tian Lin was lost in thought for a while, then suddenly smiled at his reflection in the water: "Then let's try Seeking Immortality. Anyway, the wilderness won't run out of the Herb, so I don't have to worry about starving to death."
After speaking, he washed his face with the stream water and filled his bamboo tube hanging at his waist with water.

[The Devouring Sky Demon in its Youth: The Devouring Sky Demon, a predator of birds and beasts, possesses the ability to swallow heaven and earth, and is a supreme ancient spirit beast. Its flesh can strengthen one's physique, and its blood can Wash the Marrow.]
Tian Lin stared at the prompt, then at the tadpoles in the bamboo tube, and fell silent.
Is this thing really an ancient spirit beast?
This critter can Wash the Marrow?
It could swallow a chicken—no, it can't even swallow that!
Tian Lin remained silent for a long while, then without hesitation or a wrinkle on his brow, swallowed the tadpoles along with the water.
A while later, Tian Lin didn't feel anything out of the ordinary.
"Maybe the meat is too little, after all, not even enough to get stuck in my teeth."
He looked back at the stream and this time caught around ten tadpoles.
"It seems like there might be some effect, or is it my imagination?"
Tian Lin could no longer catch any tadpoles, but whether there was an effect or not, how much benefit could such a tiny amount of meat provide?
What he really wanted to catch was the adult version of the Devouring Sky Demon—commonly known as a toad.
But fate was not on his side; the mother of the tadpoles did not let Tian Lin have his way.
Tian Lin didn't know why some things revealed attributes while others did not.
He especially looked at some vegetation and rocks but found no attributes listed for them.
After a simple bath, Tian Lin, carrying the washed wild vegetables and bamboo tube, set forth to return, not planning to abandon the old man.
Compared to the group he aimed to catch up with and join, Tian Lin trusted the harmless old man more.
Though they were all Seekers of Immortality who had left their homes, not all seekers were the same.
"Brat, I knew you wouldn't leave me behind."
The old man leaned against the wall, his face showing trust in Tian Lin.
"Can you loosen my sleeve so I can eat? I'm not going to run."
The old man didn't let go, opening his mouth: "You feed me."
"Buzz off, hide your two big yellow teeth. Eat fast and rest up; we have to hit the road early tomorrow."
There were actually quite a few wild vegetables, but the old man couldn't bear to eat them too quickly.
He shoved a leaf in his mouth; although the leaf was bitter, he found it refreshingly sweet.
Free from the worries of abandonment and hunger, the old man's spirits were significantly lifted.
He bragged to Tian Lin: "At the age of twenty-five, my dad became a Huahua Lang and left home in Seeking Immortality, abandoning me and my mom. I'm more successful than my dad; I became a Huahua Lang at seventeen, just after I got married. I've roamed almost the entire Great Zhao and its seas and provinces."
He was about to brag some more, but Tian Lin interrupted him with derision: "You and your dad sure are successful, abandoning your wives and children to seek what immortality? Your mom was unlucky to have you; she barely raised you and then you ran off, leaving a wife behind."

Tian Lin asked him, "All these years, what? You're over seventy now, did you find your immortality?"
The old man was stunned, unable to stuff any more leafy greens into his mouth.
Tian Lin didn't want to talk any more and went out.
Soon, the sounds of sobbing came from inside the house.
Tian Lin, hearing the crying, couldn't help but laugh with schadenfreude.
At least his former self didn't abandon his family in pursuit of immortality.
It was only after his mother passed away and he was completely alone in the village that he set out.
His father had abandoned him and his mother to seek immortality when he was very young and never returned.
