I can upgrade the shelter-Chapter 146 - 144 Psychological Counseling
The police car entered the shelter located in the First People’s Hospital through the original entrance of the hospital’s underground garage.
The injured were quickly taken for treatment, while Chen Xin was sent to a ward to rest, waiting for a specialized psychologist to come and provide him with psychological counseling.
"Ah Xin, don’t take this matter too seriously. Those three people I shot dead were thugs. They were robbing the injured at the time and even intended to attack her with a fire axe. Even if you were the one who shot and killed them, it would be considered self-defense and bravery, let alone that you just fired the shots, and I was the one who killed them," Qin Lan was accompanying Chen Xin, trying to comfort him.
However, at this moment, Chen Xin still appeared in a dazed state, as if he hadn’t fully come to his senses.
"Knock knock, excuse me, I’m the psychologist here to provide counseling. Officer, could you please step out for a moment?" A pleasant voice was heard at the door, and while it was sweet, it gave off a cool feeling.
Qin Lan turned to see a female doctor wearing glasses standing at the doorway, holding a patient’s file. Although she was in an ordinary white coat, it exuded a fashionable quality on her.
What particularly surprised Qin Lan was that despite the current extreme cold, this female doctor was still dressed in a shirt, short skirt, stockings, and high heels in an office lady style. Her long hair was pinned up with a hairpin, looking nothing like a doctor in a doomsday shelter, but more like a specialized doctor providing custom services in some private hospital before the disaster.
Qin Lan didn’t know why she thought this way, but she somehow felt there was an indescribable aura about her, not looking like a proper doctor.
However, she quickly dispelled this thought, said, "Thank you," to the doctor, and left the ward.
After watching Qin Lan leave, the female doctor finally closed the door, pulled the curtain, and sat by Chen Xin’s bed.
She took out a pen-shaped flashlight and flicked it twice at Chen Xin, checking his state. The expression on her face changed, and she reached up to remove the hairpin from her hair, letting her long hair fall.
The female doctor shook her hair while placing the patient’s file to one side, lazily saying to Chen Xin, "Alright, since you’ve already come around, stop pretending. Don’t you feel uncomfortable?"
"How did you know I was pretending?" Seeing the female doctor act this way, Chen Xin also snapped out of his daze, looking at this distinctive doctor: "Dior’s Poison, even in this environment, is there still someone using perfume?"
This time, it was the female doctor’s turn to be a little surprised. She couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow: "You have quite a keen nose. A man who can recognize Poison, that’s impressive, even before the disaster."
"I just tried making it myself before, so I have researched the five poisons," Chen Xin brushed over the topic, looking at the doctor: "Although I wasn’t actually in a daze, I think I still need psychological counseling, so Doctor, can you start?"
The female doctor shrugged, picked up the patient file on the table, and pressed a button on the hairpin in her hand before she started writing: "I thought I could take it easy. Aren’t men supposed to quickly recover when seeing a sexy female doctor like me in the apocalypse? You say you need psychological counseling, maybe it’s just an excuse to look a bit longer?"
"If you’ve just seen three people’s heads burst open like smashed watermelons in front of you, I don’t think anyone would be in the mood to ogle pretty women at this time." Although the female doctor’s words were a bit biting, Chen Xin’s expression remained unfazed, replying with a sarcastic retort: "Of course, if someone uses sex to relieve psychological shock, then ignore what I said."
Hearing Chen Xin’s response, the female doctor raised an eyebrow: "Having just seen three men get shot in the head, and you can get over it and banter with me, it seems your mental resilience is quite strong!"
To this evaluation, Chen Xin indifferently said: "Perhaps that’s the residue from being a novelist. Having researched too much for writing novels, I’ve seen a lot of gory scenes and developed some resistance. It just took a moment to snap out of it. After all, witnessing a real human head exploding in front of you can’t be compared to videos or photos in terms of impact."
The female doctor nodded in agreement, continuing to write on the patient file with the pen that doubled as a hairpin, chatting with Chen Xin: "You have good emotional self-regulation. Being able to talk to me so clearly now is also a distraction strategy, so you don’t have to think about what you just saw, right?"
"So, you are a psychologist? Dressing like this and wearing perfume must be to deliberately create a nostalgic illusion, making the patients feel like they’re still in the pre-disaster world while they relax during psychological counseling, right?" Chen Xin found this female doctor intriguing, and indeed, he no longer dwelled on his recent shooting incident.
The laziness on the female doctor’s face finally disappeared entirely, and she became much more serious, devoid of the seductive demeanor that made Qin Lan think she wasn’t a proper doctor.
"No doubt you’re a novelist; your observation and analytical skills deserve praise." The female doctor smiled, complimenting Chen Xin’s perceptive nature, while also bringing the topic back to his current state: "Seeing others get shot in the head can be a significant psychological shock for ordinary people, and even police need psychological counseling after such actions. Your ability to self-regulate is a positive sign, showing good psychological control capability.
However, I still advise you to rest and relax your nerves. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself. In these end times, everyone is under great stress. I almost have a case of emotional breakdown here every day. You’re a rare patient with self-regulating ability that I’ve seen these days, so don’t collapse under the pressure."
Chen Xin took the female doctor’s advice to heart, nodding in agreement: "I did have a breakdown before, but fortunately, I’ve adjusted now. Thanks for your concern, Doctor. Could I trouble you for your name?"
"Since you know I’ve sprayed Poison, why not guess my name? Poison is the hint," the female doctor said with a mysterious smile.
Hearing the female doctor’s words, Chen Xin couldn’t help but begin to think and analyze, speculating about the connection between the female doctor’s name and the Poison perfume.
