If you really want to make an autonomous robot with weak artificial intelligence, it isn't actually that difficult.

Especially after the researchers copied the AI from the mechanical hound and successfully installed it onto a robot, this technology quickly progressed towards practical application.

Thanks to the humanoid mechanical development experience accumulated from projects like Titan, Exoskeleton, and Heavy Mecha, the robot's development itself went quite smoothly.

As for the writing of the AI, thanks to sacrificing a few programmers' hair, considerable progress was also made.

Inside a laboratory, a rather rudimentary-looking robot, even lacking an exterior casing with various wires exposed, stood in the middle, bowing like a human and saying "hello" to the researchers and Chen Xin gathered around it.

Although this robot didn't look much different from those exhibition robots Chen Xin had seen before, even its movements seemed a bit stilted, it was clearly not one of those earlier robots that didn't even count as weak AI.

"So this is your finished product?" Chen Xin leaned against a lab table, looked at the robot about his height bowing to him, and touched his chin, feeling not very satisfied.

He had anticipated the robot's rudimentary form since it was something hastily put together, a bit rough was acceptable.

However, since they used AI from the mechanical hound, this robot should perform better.

The researchers clearly thought the same and explained to Chen Xin: "This cannot be considered the final product, but it's a phase achievement, at least all the necessary functions are present, next we just need to improve and perfect it."

Even though the robot made was rudimentary, and the researchers weren't very satisfied, feeling there was much room for improvement, they were still proud of it.

Another researcher chimed in: "Sir, you can try giving it a command; this robot is quite clever."

"Really? I'm thirsty then." Hearing the researcher's words, Chen Xin decided to test the robot.

Although it's weak AI, the AI from the mechanical hound should be able to understand this command.

As for this robot, after the researchers' adjustments to its program, Chen Xin was quite curious about what level it could reach.

But judging from the confident expressions on the researchers' faces, this command was clearly no problem for the robot.

Sure enough, upon hearing Chen Xin's words, the robot walked with somewhat unsteady steps to the water dispenser, picked up a cup, filled it with water, and returned to Chen Xin, presenting the water to him.

"Hello, here is your water," the robot said to Chen Xin.

After taking a sip of the water poured by the robot, Chen Xin put down the cup, nodded, and said, "Not bad, but it seems not as nimble as the previous cleaning one?"

"Thank you for your praise. Indeed, I am not as physically agile as the previous cleaning robot, but in terms of intelligence, I am superior." Contrary to Chen Xin's expectations, it wasn't a researcher but the robot itself responding. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

This intrigued Chen Xin, and he curiously asked the robot, "Oh? Then what's the difference between you and it?"

"The cleaning robot's program removed unnecessary parts, focusing its main functions and computational power on cleaning. So while it performs excellently in cleaning, I, with more preserved intelligence, excel in other areas," the robot explained to Chen Xin, in a logically clear and coherent manner.

Listening to the robot, Chen Xin touched his eyebrows and asked the researchers, "Did you pre-record this?"

"No, we didn't enter this content; it learned by itself," a researcher replied.

The robot beside Chen Xin also made another bow.

Seeing this, Chen Xin nodded affirmatively and said, "Indeed, not bad. The body can be further improved; it's not quite ready to replace human labor yet."

"Don't worry, sir, it's all in the plan; we'll design a more refined body later," a researcher assured Chen Xin.

"I look forward to it. If you need anything, talk to Manager Tang; she'll solve it for you," Chen Xin nodded, gave a few more instructions, asked about the researchers' next steps, and then prepared to leave.

But before leaving the lab, he seemed to remember something and advised the researchers: "Also, although I don't oppose your work on AI, be cautious, and don't create any strong AI; I don't want to see a robot rebellion."

"We know the limits; we won't act recklessly, rest assured, sir!" The researchers evidently understood the gravity and made a serious promise to Chen Xin.

Seeing their serious attitude, Chen Xin said no more, nodded to them, and left the lab.

Chen Xin was still optimistic about this robot research project, as long as these researchers didn't go overboard, planning to upgrade weak AI to strong AI; creating robots in the current situation had many benefits.

However, for safety's sake, Chen Xin specifically instructed Tang Tang to keep an eye on the researchers, preventing someone from going too far.

It's not that Chen Xin was against technological progress, but as a former novelist, he was worried about the dire consequences that robots with self-awareness might bring.

After all, these robots are made to replace human labor, in short, to be enslaved, and as machines, there's no problem with that.

But when machines have thoughts, even machines apparently wouldn't want to continue being enslaved, so even though strong AI is better, it's still best not to do so.

Moreover, judging from the current robot's performance, even with just weak AI, its performance was very good, more than meeting usage needs, making strong AI with self-thought unnecessary and dangerous.
