Chapter 14: A Model's Unexpected Encounter

"Thanks! You've been really helpful!" I said, genuinely grateful for the opportunity.

"N-no problem, I'm glad that I could help, but... Uhm... was it really good?" Hikari-san, the photographer, asked shyly after the session wrapped up. His voice was filled with uncertainty.

After the break, the photoshoot session didn't resume, and for some reason, Hikari-san appeared satisfied, thanking us. I felt a bit confused, as I hadn't seen the photos yet. I wondered which ones would actually be used. I thought I'd feel more nervous, but if Hikari-san, a professional, said it was good, then it was probably fine, right?

Just as I was lost in thought, Hikari-san handed me a big paper bag. "Here, take this."

"Huh? W-what is it? This is..." I stammered, pulling the bag open to reveal several clothes inside.

"I really wanted to give you money, but since you're an amateur, it's a bit tough on the office for that. Therefore, I'll give you these clothes instead, as thanks! They're all carefully selected to fit your size and look good on you," Hikari-san explained with a smile.

"Eh!? T-there's no need for this! It was a good experience for me, too..." I protested, feeling overwhelmed by his generosity.

"It's okay, just accept it! It's common sense to reward people for their work," Hikari-san insisted.

"Y-yes... If that's the case... Uhm... thank you very much."

"Good! You're welcome." Hikari-san smiled, looking pleased. He was genuinely a kind person.

Then, Miwa-san, the model, spoke to me. "Yuuya-san, thank you very much for your time today."

"No, it's me who should be thanking you. It was a really valuable experience for me, and most importantly, I think that being able to do this with a professional like you will help me in the future," I said with a genuine smile.

Miwa-san seemed taken aback for a moment, but then she smiled back. "That was good to hear! If we have another chance to work together, I hope you'll treat me well."

"Yes, I'll be cheering you on, Miwa-san!" I replied.

As the peaceful atmosphere continued, someone suddenly walked toward us. A cool-looking man with blonde hair styled in wax and stylish piercings on his ears. His aura was similar to Miwa-san's but also distinct, though I couldn't quite put my finger on what made him different.

Looking at Hikari-san, who had been smiling just a moment ago, I noticed a vein bulging on his forehead. His expression darkened, and he muttered under his breath, "This damned kid...!"

His tone had shifted to something more frustrated and angry. Who was this man?

I glanced at Miwa-san, unsure of the situation. "Umm... Miwa-san, who's that guy?"

"Err... he's a male model who was supposed to have a photoshoot with me today," Miwa-san explained.

That made sense. I'd noticed their similar energy and figured they were both in the same profession, though this guy seemed to have a different presence.

The man finally noticed Miwa-san and grinned. "Miwa-chaaan! You have a photoshoot with me today, right? How is it? I bet it makes you happy, huh?"

Miwa-san seemed flustered, unsure of how to respond. His hand rested on her shoulder, and I could tell she was uncomfortable.

"Hey, hey, no worries," he continued, clearly unaware of how his actions were affecting her.

I couldn't stay silent. "Excuse me..." I said, stepping forward.

The man turned to look at me with an annoyed expression. "Who are you? Don't talk to me. You're annoying, get out of here!"

I was stunned by his hostility. Why was he being like this? I stood my ground and responded, "No, that's... Miwa-san seems troubled, so I think it's better for you to step away from her a little bit."

"Yu-Yuuya-san!" Miwa-san called out, a bit panicked. The man shot me a glare, clearly displeased. He removed his hand from Miwa-san's shoulder and stepped closer to me.

"You, who are you talking to?" he asked, his tone dripping with contempt.

I didn't know who this man was, but he clearly didn't appreciate being confronted. His glare grew sharper, and it was obvious that he wasn't the type to back down.

"I don't even understand why I should explain myself to you..." he muttered, his irritation palpable.

Before I could respond, he suddenly lunged at me with a punch. It was slow, and honestly, it felt like something straight out of a beginner's boxing class. I had no intention of letting it land. My body reacted instinctively, and without thinking, I caught his fist in my palm, twisted his arm, and slammed him onto the ground.

"Gaahh!?" he shouted, surprised by how effortlessly I'd overpowered him.

"That's amazing..." Miwa-san muttered, astonished.

I had no idea how I had done that, but the punch had been so slow compared to the monsters I'd fought before that it was almost laughable. I wasn't even sure if this man had any real martial arts training—his punches felt amateur at best.

Hikari-san, who had been watching the scene unfold, squatted down and gave the man a devilish smile. "Since you've shown violence, your career as an entertainer is over. Even if you're not an entertainer, it's a crime, you know? What a pity!"

The man struggled to break free, but Hikari-san, unfazed, held up his camera. "I recorded everything from the beginning until the end, you know?"

The man's face paled, and he shouted in defeat, "D-dammmiiiitttttt!"

He was eventually subdued by the staff, and I stood there, still holding him down, wondering if this was all just a bad dream.

"Geez... I didn't think it'd end like this!" Hikari-san remarked, shaking his head. "But... Yuuya-kun, you're really strong, huh? Even though that guy looked like he had some skills, you handled him easily."

"It just happened by chance!" I laughed nervously, unsure of how to explain myself.

"Yuuya-kun, thank you for today!" Miwa-san called out as she approached.

I turned to her. "Miwa-san, are you alright?"

"Eh? Ah... uh... Thank you so much!" She looked a bit embarrassed, her cheeks turning red.

"It's nothing... I was just a little confused since you didn't say anything earlier," she explained, her voice still flustered.

"Ah, I was relieved, actually. That person had been following me around, so I'm glad you stepped in."

"Wait, was he acting like a stalker?" I asked, surprised.

"Kind of, yeah..." Miwa-san admitted, sounding a bit disturbed by the situation.

After a bit more conversation, Miwa-san thanked me again, and I left, still processing the day's events. The photoshoot had been a strange but valuable experience. And as for the clothes Hikari-san gave me, well, they were definitely a generous gift from a professional, but I couldn't help but think about how quickly things had escalated.

As I left, I couldn't shake the feeling that the entertainment world was a lot scarier than I had ever imagined.

Later, after I left, Hikari-san and Miwa-san took a moment to review the photos. Hikari looked at the images with a thoughtful expression, admiring the unexpected charm Yuuya had brought to the shoot.

"He's incredible, right? That boy has something special," Hikari said, smiling with a mix of admiration and surprise.

"Yeah... I couldn't take my eyes off him, either," Miwa agreed, reflecting on the shoot. "Even though he's not a pro, he still stood out."

Hikari nodded, looking at one of the photos in particular. "I was thinking of making that photo the main one. It's just so natural, isn't it?"

The photo in question showed Miwa and Yuuya chatting during their break. The chemistry between them was undeniable, making it look like they were a real couple.

Miwa smiled as she looked at the photo. "Yeah, it really does have something... a certain charm."
