Chapter 2514: Chapter 2515: Hunter

"That car doesn’t seem right," Sambalo whispered, his hand instinctively moving to his weapon.

"Don’t panic just yet. Let’s observe the situation first—it might just be someone passing through."

Lin Yi squinted his eyes, his gaze locked on the rearview mirror with caution.

His instincts told him that anyone driving here was unlikely to be ordinary.

At the same time, Sambalo had already readied his gun, prepared to act at any moment.

"Drive the car away," Lin Yi instructed.

"We’re too close to the base. If we’re spotted, neither of us will make it out alive."

The burly Sambalo realized the gravity of the situation. Although there was still some distance, being careful was the safest option.

Sambalo started the car, steering it gradually away from the base.

Lin Yi adjusted his seat, reclining slightly as he kept his eyes on the rearview mirror, monitoring every move of the vehicle behind them.

It would be best if this was just a misunderstanding. If not, they had to resolve it immediately.

Unfortunately, the car behind them kept tailing them—and whoever was inside was good.

After more than twenty minutes of driving, Sambalo still couldn’t shake them off.

Lin Yi’s hand moved toward the gun beside him.

"Find a secluded spot to pull over. You get out to check, and I’ll stay in the car and look for an opportunity."

"Got it."

Sambalo, skilled and bold, found a deserted area to park the car.

The trailing Honda sedan also came to a stop.

What Lin Yi didn’t expect was that after the car behind them parked, its driver stepped out.

Lin Yi was stunned!

The person who got out was none other than Zhang Long!

"Relax, he’s one of us," Lin Yi said in surprise and delight.

Seeing Zhang Long here filled Lin Yi with a surge of emotion.

"One of us?"

Sambalo looked puzzled, but Lin Yi didn’t bother explaining further. He opened the car door and stepped out.

The two men stood about five or six meters apart. Lin Yi removed the disguise from his face, causing Zhang Long’s eyes to light up.

"Team Leader Lin!"

Meeting here gave both men a feeling of having found each other after a long absence.

Without much ado, they embraced tightly, only separating after a long moment.

"Why are you here?"

Lin Yi couldn’t quite put his emotions into words.

To Lin Yi, Zhang Long was a very special person.

Ever since Liang Xianghe took him away, they hadn’t seen each other.

And now, meeting again in this place, his excitement was beyond description.

"I arrived half a month ago. Elder Lu sent me to meet up with you here, but you’re too good at hiding—I couldn’t find you," Zhang Long said with a smile.

"If Elder Lu hadn’t provided some information, I might still be searching."

Lin Yi glanced around. "Let’s go. This isn’t the place to talk—get in your car first."

"Alright."

Soon after, Lin Yi called Sambalo over, and they all got into Zhang Long’s car, preparing to switch vehicles and leave.

After learning about Sambalo’s background, Zhang Long couldn’t hide his admiration for Lin Yi.

In such a perilous situation, Lin Yi had managed to turn someone to his side—and the person was even from the Halke Rangers.

This level of skill left Zhang Long deeply impressed.

"Team Leader Lin, things are chaotic here, like a boiling cauldron. When are you planning to make your move?" Sambalo said while driving, and Zhang Long asked.

"Wait a bit longer. It’s not chaotic enough yet."

Buzz, buzz, buzz—

As they were talking, static crackled over the car’s radio.

"We interrupt this broadcast for an important announcement: in light of recent events, we have decided..."

The three listened attentively to the broadcast, and a smile spread across Lin Yi’s lips.

Zhang Long’s eyes flickered with realization.

"Team Leader Lin, is this the opportunity you’ve been waiting for?"

"Smart," Lin Yi praised.

"We’re going to stir things up even more, stretch their forces thin until they’re utterly exhausted!"

In Lin Yi’s eyes, Zhang Long caught a glimpse of something ruthless—like a beast about to leap into action.

The intensity in that gaze made one’s heart tremble.

"Where to next?" Zhang Long asked.

"The nearest Police Hall. We’re hitting it," Lin Yi replied.

Before long, Sambalo drove the car to the closest Police Hall and parked it in the shadows.

"I’ll handle this. Your identity is too sensitive—you can’t afford to be exposed," Zhang Long said.

"No way. It’s too dangerous for you to go alone."

"Don’t worry. I know what I’m doing. My mission is to protect you; I can’t let you risk yourself."

Saying this, Zhang Long stepped out of the car immediately, not giving Lin Yi a chance to object.

About twenty minutes later, Zhang Long returned to the car.

"Done. Let’s go!"

Sambalo started the car at once, and within minutes, they noticed flames rising from the back of the building.

Soon after came frantic shouts as people struggled to extinguish the fire. But the flames grew stronger, and putting them out seemed nearly impossible.

Meanwhile, Lin Yi and the other two casually drove away.

"What’s the matter? Breaking a sweat?" Lin Yi asked with a chuckle.

"Brazenly setting fires and killing people—it’s something I’m still getting used to," Zhang Long replied with a laugh.

"Feeling like you’re dancing on the edge of a blade?"

"Definitely an adrenaline rush."

"This is just the beginning," Lin Yi said.

"Things aren’t chaotic enough yet. At this rate, if we don’t escalate, leaving here will remain extremely difficult."

"I get it," Zhang Long said.

"Right now, everything’s locked down. It’s like a birdcage—if we don’t create our own opportunities, we’ll be trapped sooner or later."

"Enough talking for now. What’s next?" Sambalo, still driving, asked.

"You know where the Black Forest’s base is, don’t you? Let’s go have a look."

"You’re planning to target them?"

Sambalo’s voice betrayed a hint of fear. Their previous targets had been smaller groups, less dangerous.

But now, going after the Black Forest—that was enough to make Sambalo restless.

As a former Halke Ranger, he knew how formidable a group like the Black Forest could be.

This was playing with fire.

"Of course. We can’t just pick and choose—we should be fair to everyone," Lin Yi said.

"Are you sure you don’t want to reconsider?"

"What’s there to reconsider?" Lin Yi said confidently.

"I managed to handle all four of you alone. The Black Forest isn’t much different in skill—nothing too dangerous. Just drive."

"Madman."

Grumbling under his breath, Sambalo stepped on the gas, heading toward the Black Forest’s base.

About three hours later, they arrived in Gunma Prefecture, stopping in front of what appeared to be an ordinary inn.

"Their people are here," Sambalo said, lighting a cigarette. "But I’m not sure if their main force is."

"Are you certain their people are here?"

"That much I can confirm."

"Good enough," Lin Yi said, gathering his equipment. "Let’s go—time to work."

The three of them, armed with prepared incendiary bottles, slipped out of the car under the cover of night, moving toward the inn.

Soon, flames roared to life. Thick smoke billowed into the sky as the four-story inn was engulfed, illuminated like a beacon in the dark night.

After successfully setting the fire, the three of them hid in separate corners.

They waited like hunters preparing to pounce on their prey.
