I Get A Random New Occupation Every Week-Chapter 2577 - 2578: Have you guessed who I am?
Chapter 2577: Chapter 2578: Have you guessed who I am?
"Huh?"
Lin Yi froze for a moment. The name Zhao Rongsheng shouldn’t have come out of Han Xiaojun’s mouth.
"What happened?"
"We just admitted a patient with both legs crushed. During the initial treatment, he kept cursing and repeating your name," Han Xiaojun explained.
"At first, I thought it was just someone with the same name, but something felt off, so I called to confirm with you."
After hearing this, Lin Yi immediately understood the situation.
Zhao Rongsheng, after having his legs broken, had been sent to their department!
"Does he have a family member with him, named Zhao Rongyi? Just arrived at the hospital?"
"Yes, yes, it seems Principal Lin knows this person," Han Xiaojun replied.
"But this guy seems a bit shady. Should Principal Lin come over?"
"Alright. Wait for me in the department. I’m on my way."
"Got it."
After hanging up, Lin Yi looked at Li Chuhan.
"Let’s head back. Check on the department, and later we’ll go out for dinner."
"Okay."
The two walked back together leisurely. Li Chuhan returned to the cardiothoracic surgery department, while Lin Yi went to orthopedics.
"Brother Han."
Upon entering the office, Lin Yi saw Han Xiaojun.
Han Xiaojun wasn’t particularly burly; he was a bit overweight, wore thick glasses, and shuffled around in slippers, looking disheveled.
Judging by appearances, Han Xiaojun was the type you’d easily lose sight of in a crowd.
But in terms of talent, he was undoubtedly a big shot in the field.
In all of China, he was considered a top-tier expert.
"Principal Lin," Han Xiaojun greeted him. "That pair of brothers looks like trouble. They were saying things like wanting to kill you. Definitely not decent folks."
"They’re definitely not decent," Lin Yi chuckled.
"But don’t worry. I’ll handle it."
"Come on, you think I’d be scared? I called you just to give you a heads-up so you’re prepared, not to dump the mess on you," Han Xiaojun said.
"I’m a doctor here. I don’t believe they’d dare lay a hand on me."
Lin Yi laughed. "I didn’t mean it that way. It’s just that the matter ties back to me, so it’s better if I handle it. No need to cause you headaches. Dealing with thugs like them isn’t easy; it’s more appropriate for me to step in."
"Alright then. I won’t fight you on this one," Han Xiaojun replied.
"Anything you need me to do?"
"Where is he?"
"In the treatment room. They should be done soon and about to wheel him to the operating room."
"Don’t be too meticulous. Let it be enough to get by," Lin Yi instructed.
"Have him wheeled to the operating room, pull all our staff out, and prepare a set of scrubs for me. The rest I’ll handle."
"Understood."
About half an hour later, everything was ready. Lin Yi donned a blue surgical gown, covering himself completely, and headed for the elevators, preparing to go to the operating room.
Wearing surgical attire in advance was against protocol.
But when it came to Lin Yi, protocols didn’t matter.
Ding—
The elevator stopped on the 9th floor. Two nurses rolled a stretcher in from outside.
And lying on it was Zhao Rongsheng!
Zhao Rongyi was also beside them, preparing to head to the operating room together.
"Damn it, once my legs heal, the first thing I’ll do is kill him!"
Having spent so many years in crime, Zhao Rongsheng had grown arrogant and fearless.
Even with nurses present, he spouted such vicious threats without hesitation.
"I won’t let him off either," Zhao Rongyi said.
"His abilities are even greater than we thought. Traditional methods might not work to bring him down."
"So what’s your plan?"
"In a couple of days, it’s the second round of bidding. I’ll make sure he fails miserably, and I’ll spread the news throughout the financial world. I want everyone to know that Lin Yi’s era is over!"
"But that won’t change the fact that he’s a capable man. He’ll only lose money and status. What I want is to ruin him personally."
"I understand," Zhao Rongyi replied.
"Brother, do you remember how Gong Qiang died?"
Zhao Rongsheng’s expression changed. "You mean to have someone kill..."
"Shh..."
Zhao Rongyi made a silencing gesture. "That’s roughly my plan. Taking him out is just a flick of the finger. Don’t dwell on it."
"Alright, we’ll do it your way..."
Listening to their conversation, Lin Yi stood silently in a corner, unnoticed by the brothers.
Soon, the elevator stopped on the 17th floor. The nurses rolled Zhao Rongsheng out, with Lin Yi following closely behind.
At the door of the operating room, Zhao Rongyi stood aside while Lin Yi went in.
Inside the operating room, the complicated preoperative preparations were complete. Lin Yi glanced around and signaled everyone else to leave.
Soon, only Lin Yi and Zhao Rongsheng remained in the room.
Lin Yi busied himself with preparing some medication, while Zhao Rongsheng lay on the operating table, without exchanging a single word.
"Doctor, how long will the surgery take?" Zhao Rongsheng asked.
"About an hour. It won’t take too long."
"Alright, take good care of me. You’ll be rewarded handsomely."
The corner of Lin Yi’s mouth curled upward, revealing a smile. "You’re wealthy?"
"Let me put it this way: my assets are something you’ll never see in your lifetime."
"No wonder you were so arrogant before coming in. Turns out, you’ve got the means. But it’s better to stay humble; otherwise, you might suffer a big loss."
"Humble?" Zhao Rongsheng sneered contemptuously. "That’s easy for you to say. That bastard broke my legs. If I don’t kill him, I’ll never sleep peacefully again!"
Lin Yi held a syringe filled with a clear, viscous liquid.
Slowly pressing the plunger, he expelled a bit of liquid, stopping at the five-milliliter mark.
"Killing someone is risky business. This is a society governed by law."
Lin Yi inserted the syringe into an artery and pushed the liquid in.
Hiss—
Zhao Rongsheng felt a slight sting but quickly adjusted.
"Such rules are for ordinary folks like you. They don’t apply to people like us," Zhao Rongsheng boasted smugly.
"Ever seen a gun? Probably not in your lifetime. With just one bullet, we could end him, and even an Immortal couldn’t save him."
"That’s pretty impressive."
"Hmm?"
Zhao Rongsheng looked puzzled, sensing something wasn’t right.
In his experience, an ordinary person wouldn’t remain so calm after hearing such talk.
Suddenly, Zhao Rongsheng’s expression shifted!
"You... you’re..."
"Did you figure out who I am?" Lin Yi removed his mask, smiling as he spoke.
