I Got A Title: Lord Of The Time!-Chapter 55: Cold death
Chapter 55: Cold death
Everyone suddenly fell silent and looked up at the sky, seeing countless dark-blue silhouettes flying toward them!
"Th-this... There are thousands of them!" Wed took a step back and looked at the sky with disbelief on his face.
"We need to run immediately!" the other guy frantically began searching for a place to hide!
Aran frowned, then said:
"We can’t defeat them. We need to hide underground."
Lin also assessed his strength and the entire swarm of birds, realizing that even using his skill three or more times wouldn’t be enough to defeat them. The only option was to hide, because if you didn’t, you’d end up beneath countless birds that could easily eat you.
He quickly looked around and tried to find a cave where he could hide while these birds rampaged across the sky.
But since they were in hilly terrain, there wasn’t a single cave they could hide in!
"What do we do?! There’s nowhere to hide here..."
Wed frowned and tried to calm his nerves, but the intense stress and the birds above only made him tremble more. He looked at Lin with hope in his eyes.
"That’s Sir Lin... He must have a plan to survive. I just need to follow him!"
Lin noticed Wed’s gaze but showed no reaction. He urgently needed to find a way to hide to avoid further problems, and some guy’s stare didn’t concern him right now.
"There’s not a single cave we can hide in. We either fight these birds or run and hope they won’t touch us," Lin announced slowly.
"I say we run! There’s no point going back, but let’s go to the side!" Wed quickly suggested and pointed to the left.
"Let’s head left and hope the birds won’t come after us!"
The other guy nodded immediately, and Lin, finding no better option, nodded as well and ran to the left without wasting a moment. Wed and the other guy followed Lin, and Aran shook his head and muttered:
"I suppose I can play along for a bit..." he also ran left after Lin and the others.
The group’s speed was quite high.
Within ten minutes, they had covered several kilometers and were already a good distance from their original position. But the swarm of birds was so massive that even covering such a distance didn’t let them escape far.
Running with all his might, Wed looked up and saw the birds getting closer and closer. Before, they had been just tiny silhouettes barely visible, but now they were clear shapes not far away!
"Damn! These birds are getting closer! We need to run faster!"
The guy running behind Wed looked like a dry sponge. He barely opened his mouth and said: ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom
"Damn... Let’s stop for a moment!.. I’m so tired... I can’t go on..."
Lin and Wed shook their heads and said in unison:
"Stopping is no longer an option. If you can’t run anymore, you can stop and die. So use every ounce of strength you’ve ever had to live a little longer."
Wed nodded.
"Sir Lin speaks the truth. If you don’t want to die, keep running. If you know you’re out of strength, then may the earth rest your soul..." after saying this, Wed picked up his speed and almost caught up to Lin.
Running off to the side, Aran shook his head and smiled.
"My advice to you: — just die. Death is the absolute concept that eventually reaches everyone, and if you feel that your time has come, then it has," he winked at him and sped up, nearly catching up to Lin.
Hearing such words, the guy’s face twisted with rage. He looked up and saw the birds even closer than before!
"Damn! Damn! Damn! Help me, just for a moment! You can’t leave me here!! You’re nothing without me — like a bird without wings!!! Damn you, Wed!! You stupid bastard, every night you used Kaely and raped her!! Sir Lin, please kill that bastard!! Good luck in hell, Wed!" he suddenly stopped and looked up at the birds.
"Alright, come on! Death truly is the absolute concept that catches everyone in this world, and there’s no point in running from it!"
"Crazy fool, he’s talking nonsense under the shadow of death... Not worth listening to him," Wed said slowly, watching the guy with murderous intent.
Lin just snorted, and Aran continued running with a smile.
As the group became a tiny dot on the horizon, the birds finally swooped down to tear apart the man below!
"Come on, I’m ready to meet you!" saying this, he activated his skill and began manipulating the surrounding wind to kill a few birds.
Whoosh!
Two birds instantly collided due to the wind and died!
Whoosh!
Dozens of birds with open beaks ready to devour him were instantly blown away by a strong gust of wind!
Whoosh!
A small tornado formed!
Whoosh!
Waves of wind knocked the birds back!
Whoosh!
He also used the wind to slam some of the birds into the ground!
He slowly lifted himself into the air with the wind and looked at the thousands of birds flying toward him.
"If not for my Price, I really could have escaped..." after these words, his ability deactivated, and he fell back down.
When he raised his head, he saw only darkness.
Yes, his Price was: blindness.
He would become blind for a while after using his ability.
"Ha-ha... If not for the Price, I could have lived a bit longer..."
Tears began slowly falling from his eyes, and his gaze grew more innocent.
"Damn... I’m only 16... and I’m already dying... Damn! Damn!"
The birds swarmed around his body and began tearing it apart in every possible way. He felt unimaginable pain, true agony, every bit of his flesh shredded by birds!
"AAAH!!! THE PAIN!!! DAMNED PAIN!!!"
Soon, nothing remained of him but a large pool of blood and organs...
...
Meanwhile, the group had managed to escape far enough from the birds and reached some kind of forest.
"Interesting, looks like we’re in the Dead Lands... specifically in the forest," said Aran.
Lin nodded.
"Yes. Since we’re in the Dead Lands — that means there should be Fort Posts to the right or left. It’s also possible they’re ahead..."
Wed smiled brightly and sighed in relief.
"So we’re already very close... That’s good to hear."
Lin looked at him coldly and snorted.
"Let’s keep going. We still have a long road ahead."
Aran smiled.
"Of course."
