I Have a Sailing Game-Chapter 329 - 215: Thief’s Headband, Inside the Prison (2-in-1)
Rogel wiped his sweat upon seeing this.
The "Prison Chain" was truly insidious.
This thing appeared purely at random, entirely depending on luck. It might not show up for several minutes, or it could appear multiple times in quick succession.
Luckily, his current luck held out.
Otherwise, he would have been hoisted up by this thing long ago.
Thankfully, he had used the Fog Flash to hurry along earlier without greedily conserving Spiritual Value, or else he’d have been in trouble.
"You have discovered a gigantic stone tablet covered in writing."
"There seems to be some information recorded on it, but you can’t understand it at all."
"However, you don’t seem interested in it either, and you leave after just a glance."
Of course, Rogel wasn’t interested.
He had already recorded the writings on this stone tablet on his computer.
This type of text-based information was the easiest to record; he could draw it out for Mira later.
This place was far too dangerous, and Rogel no longer planned to bring Mira here.
He just wanted to take all the good stuff from the ruins and then retreat.
"You use the Fog Flash Skill to quickly move forward."
"When you arrive at a certain spot, you stop and throw a Wailing Skull into the distance with all your might."
"The Wailing Skull lands far away, emitting a painful wailing sound."
"With a boom, the ground explodes, and the Prison Chain strikes at nothing."
"Several Lamp-bearing Patrols quickly arrive at the scene, but they look around in confusion."
"You quietly watch as a massive creature passes in front of you."
"Its heavy Iron Boots stomp on the ground, making a thick echo."
"Prison Gate Guardian"
"Type: Monster"
"Quality: Elite"
"Level: 53"
"Tier: Deputy"
"Explanation: A Warrior clad in heavy Knight Armor, it will attack anyone unqualified to enter the prison."
This guy.
Rogel had died countless times at its hands.
The armor on this thing was practically impenetrable, and most absurdly, its physical resilience could nullify Rogel’s "Skeleton Stripping."
This was in the Black Fog Area, where Tier effects were nearly non-existent.
It’s hard to imagine how powerful this creature would be outside the fog.
Rogel naturally had no intention of fighting it; he couldn’t win.
He only wanted to enter the prison interior to search for treasures.
"Taking advantage of the Prison Gate Guardian’s distraction by the Wailing Skull, you quietly slip into the prison."
"Despite the shrouding black smoke, you can still glimpse parts of the building in front of you."
"This is a prison made of black stone bricks, and it’s unclear what is confined inside, but judging by the guards’ strength, it’s obviously not some gentle kittens or puppies."
At this point, Rogel stopped to check his status.
His Spiritual Value was still about half, roughly twenty, and his Faith Value remained untouched.
This was enough to support his continued exploration.
"You have entered the prison interior."
"Inside the prison, the Prison Chains will no longer appear."
The Prison Chains would no longer occasionally appear, which was good news.
But the bad news was that inside the prison, there were more monsters, and they were stronger. Rogel had already died here many times.
However, he hadn’t given up and planned to keep trying.
He wasn’t going to leave this place easily before he was completely unable to continue his exploration.
Anyway, his ultimate goal was to find the Cave.
"After entering the prison interior, you quickly arrive at a large table."
"Here are some weapons and equipment, which you quickly stow away."
"You have obtained: Prison Searchlight ×1."
"You have obtained: Prison Face Mask ×1."
"You have obtained: Bloody Prisoner’s Eye ×1."
Among these items, only the "Prison Searchlight" was somewhat useful.
Its function was similar to the searchlights held by the Lamp-bearing Patrols, able to slow the target’s movement speed.
But its downside was that it reduced vision.
It could stack with the Black Fog Traits in that way.
This was also why the Lamp-bearing Patrols were so blind to that extent; only standing right in front of them would get you noticed.
As for the face mask and the eyeball, one was unusable and the other was pure trash.
Rogel directly tossed away the eyeball, stowing the remaining two items before quickly leaving.
The "Prison Guard" would walk back and forth, and staying in this room would get him spotted.
"You continue to move forward, crouching at opportune moments, your stealthy and low-key demeanor allowing you to avoid some monsters’ sight."
"Crossing the prison’s front corridor, you arrive before a staircase."
"The staircase could lead upward or downward."
Rogel pondered for a moment before choosing to continue upward.
He had died too many times below; trying to go up this time might not be a bad idea.
"You decide to head to the upper part of the prison."
"You carefully step onto the stairs, cautiously observing every bit of the surroundings."
"However, what puzzles you is that for a long time, you don’t see any monsters."
"It seems very safe here."
This made Rogel feel a bit odd.
He had explored the lower prison several times before, where there were plenty of monsters—more and more the further down one went.
Why did approaching upward result in fewer guard monsters?
"You find this situation very wrong, making you more cautious, advancing with each step in a crouch."
After all, in the prison interior, the Prison Chains couldn’t sneak attack him, so cautiously advancing was perfectly fine.
"Proceeding slowly and carefully, you also observe the surrounding environment."
"After entering the second level of the prison, the building materials seem different, with the original black stones turning into somewhat hot, light-red bricks."
"You discover a prison door."
Rogel glanced at it without much attention.
In the lower levels, there were also many prison doors he had checked, but inside there were only dried-up corpses; there were no living prisoners.
In truth, Rogel was more curious about why this prison was buried beneath the Sea of Lava.
And yet, there seemed to be living beings here.
"You intend to keep moving forward."
"But a vague, indistinct sound emanates from the crack in the prison door you just passed."
"Unconsciously, you stop in your tracks."
Rogel frowned, and after thinking for a moment, he switched to True Perspective.
Entering True Perspective, he observed the surrounding environment and quickly spotted the crack in the prison door from earlier.
Peering inside, Rogel was surprised to find a spectral blue fog-like object floating, perhaps a soul of some kind.
It was making a faint "woo-woo" sound.
"Lost Soul"
"Type: Soul"
"Explanation: Just a trapped soul."
Even the information was so scant...
Rogel tried to communicate with it.
But to no avail.
With no other option, he disinterestedly exited True Perspective and moved on.
"On your journey, you pass by many cells, each seemingly containing various souls to some extent."
"They were all confined in the rooms, unable to leave."
"You check every corner of this level but find no monsters, special items, or even any information; it is entirely bare."
Rogel felt a little frustrated.
No choice but to keep moving forward.
Along the way, he also pulled out the Cave Pointer to check the direction.
However, the swaying pointer left Rogel with only one piece of information.
The Caves were somewhere around here, but whether it’s above or below was unclear.
With no other choice, Rogel kept going forward.
He remained extremely cautious, fearful of a monster suddenly emerging from some corner to ruin everything.
Yet, after searching three more levels, he was still empty-handed.
No monsters, no chests, no clues whatsoever.
Not even any worthless drops.
This continued until the fifth level.
"Cautiously, you continue forward."
"A special cell appears before you."
"’Who are you?’"
"A voice comes from within the cell."
