I Picked the Useless Class… Turns Out It's the Most Broken in the Game-Chapter 29: Duo Journey-Missing Friend.
"Yes, academy. Wait-" She took a small pause as she hit Leon’s chest with her fist, and continued. "Are you trying to make fun of me? Do you think I’m dumb, huh?" She said, slightly pouting.
"No, no senior. You’re the most intelligent being in this entire jungle." Leon said, slightly backing off as he raised both of his hands and kept them in front of his chest.
Synthia pouted, but then her voice came once again. "This thread... this is a relic, and it is used by the elves."
"I don’t know why this thing is here?" She muttered under her breath.
A small sigh escaped through Leon’s mouth, taking his hand to his hair as he brushed them gently. "Let me change the question for you, senior."
"We should think that ’Why is this thing in the carriage?’" He said, gaze fixated on Synthia.
She shook her head slightly as she shrugged. "How would I know that, junior?" She said while closing her eyes slightly.
’Hmm... if Synthia can’t depict the actual scene with her magic, how will I be able to do that?’
’Draviel,’
"You called for me?" His voice rang deep inside Leon’s mind.
’Can you help me in this situation?’
"You just disturbed my rest, but I’ll help you this once." He took a small pause.
But then continued. "I can sense the mana of the lowly creatures from that carriage." He said, the tone of his voice had the edge of superiority, as if he was looking down on someone.
’Lowly creatures?’
"Elves." He said, voice deep, and the tone remained the same.
’Okay, thanks for your help, Draviel.’
Leon’s eyes turned towards Synthia, voice came low. "Senior, I think that elves were here."
Her eyes widened slightly, his words had caught her off guard. "What do you mean? What would creatures like elves, the high-races of mana, do here?"
His gaze remained focused on her, looking straight into her eyes as his hands were crossed, resting next to his chest. "I don’t know anything about that, but I do think that elves were here, and they accidentally left this artifact behind." He said.
A small sigh escaped through her mouth as she put her fingers on both of her eyelids, looking downwards. "Do you think that the elves took her?"
"How will I know about that, senior?" Leon said.
She took her hand down, rested it on her waist as she looked at Leon for a while.
After a few seconds, her words came once again. "Hmm, you’re right about that."
"We can’t do anything about it, and as far as I know, Maya isn’t someone who’ll harm nature anyway."
He took a small pause as a small grin crept up on his lips. "So, the elves would not hurt her."
Synthia nodded her head slightly, agreeing to his words. "You’re right about that. Maya was shy and soft. I don’t think that she’d do anything like that either."
"Let’s move on with our mission. We have to deliver the letter to the branch in the next city. You still remember or did you forget about it, Senior Synthia?" He said, looking at her through his side-eye.
His words caught her off-guard, her cheeks turned red because of the embarrassment, her eyes widened as she squeezed both of her hands together, and lifted her heels up lightly.
Her voice came out loud, the tone had a sense of embarrassment buried inside of it. "I know about it.... You don’t have to tell me. Hmph!!"
She said as she turned her head to the opposite direction instantly, letting a humming voice out through her nose, and crossing both of her arms.
Leon’s eyes studied Synthia for a while. ’Should I tease her more, eh? Well, we don’t have time, so I’ll leave it for the future.’
"Yeah, yeah, senior Synthia. Shall we start moving once again?" He said.
She didn’t say anything, but after a while she gave a small nod.
A small warm smile appeared on his face as he started walking in front.
Synthia followed behind Leon, matching his pace.
Both of them were now travelling deeper inside the jungle.
The darkness thickened, the trees grew wider and scarier than before, their twisted branches were closing in, while the tall grass and overgrown bushes were casting long, restless shadows all over the ground.
From all directions, the cries and rustling of the unseen animals were filling the forest, making the silence feel even heavier.
Synthia’s eyes fell onto a small flower which was glowing brightly in the midst of the darkness of the forest.
She made her way towards it without even giving it a second thought.
When she reached next to the flower, she leaned in slightly as she looked at the flower closely.
The flower had delicate petals, each one of which was etched with intricate engravings.
A soft radiance was flowing from it, as if the petals themselves were reflecting moonlight towards her.
Her eyes widened slightly, her lips parted as a small drop of her drool covered her lips, and she looked clearly amused by the beauty of the flower. "WOAHHH!!!!" She said, her tone was cheerful.
Leon noticed that she was not following behind him anymore, his steps stopped suddenly as he muttered under his breath. "Where did she go now?"
He looked around for a while, but then noticed her sitting next to a small flower.
A small sigh escaped through his mouth as he raised his hand, and brushed it through his hair.
He made his way to her. While he was walking towards her, he noticed that Synthia was trying to touch the flower.
"Hey, senior. Don’t touch the flower. It’s not right to disturb the peace of something for your own needs." He said, his tone was sharp.
Synthia’s hand staggered back as her head moved backwards, gaze fell on Leon. "Uh... I was just trying to see it, okay?" She said.
