Chapter 80: So Why Didn’t You Use it Before?

’Hmm... isn’t that a nice item? She should’ve told us about it earlier.’

"So why didn’t you use it? You could’ve made your way to Dark Mage Tower, instead of coming back in here." He said, looking right into her eyes.

"I couldn’t have, this thing only works if I have the badge of Dark Mage Tower." She said, shaking her head lightly.

Synthia’s voice came out loud, as it cut between the conversation. "BIG SIS VALEXERIA!?" She said out loud and seemed completely dumbfounded.

Velleria got startled, took a step back as she pointed her palms towards Synthia. "Wait, wait... I’m not her, I’m her sister." She said.

Synthia still didn’t believe her, as she kept persuading. "Your face... You look like her, there’s not even a single thing which looks different."

Velleria shook her head and smiled slightly. "Look at my hair colour, it’s purple." She took a small pause and then continued.

"We both are twins, nothing more than that." She said.

"Yes, senior.

She’s telling the truth. If you don’t trust her, then trust my words." He said.

Synthia gulped, a bead of sweat rolled down her cheek, but she still gave a weak nod.

Velleria’s voice came. "Do you have the badge of Dark Mage tower?" She asked, gaze fixed at Synthia.

She nervously nodded, and her hand slid into her pocket as she grabbed something.

Pulled it out and directed it towards Velleria. "Yes, we have to carry it with us every time..."

Velleria grabbed it through her hand, and put her hand between the paper which she had.

She wrapped it and started murmuring something.

Soon after, the paper carrying the badge started shimmering brightly. "It’s ready to work." She said, her gaze turned towards Leon.

He didn’t say anything for a while, but after observing the situation for a while, he finally spoke. "Lead us there."

Velleria didn’t waste any time, her mana started to flow through her palm as it went right into the paper. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

A huge wave of yellow light erupted, devouring them completely, and the next moment, they were no longer in the chamber.

Light covering them disappeared, and the thing they saw next made them dumbfounded.

---

The smoke covered the room, and they were standing in the middle of it.

They were all inside a room covered in mana. Thick, dark-purple waves of it travelled across the space, much of it gathering over the door as if no one was allowed to enter.

The room had big, tall windows, and the curtains were covering them. A huge table was kept in the middle of the room, next to the wall.

And a young, beautiful lady wearing a black hat and the robe of the same colour sat on a chair which was placed next to the table.

Her eyes were fixed on a huge bundle of papers which were kept on the table, and a quill remained in her grasp.

"Such a flashy way to make an entrance, Ragnar." The lady said.

Leon didn’t waste a second as he bowed. "I’m sorry if we have disturbed your peace, tower master."

"But we didn’t have any choice, and had to come this way." He said, voice polite.

Valexeria scanned him completely, noticing even the small details which were visible. "I’ll let it pass this time, don’t repeat it." She said.

Her eyes moved towards the other people. "And, you came in here with multiple guests, right?"

Velleria stepped forward from the smoke, finally revealing herself.

Valexeria looked at her, kept the quill on the table as she let out a deep sigh. "You? Why are you in my tower?" She asked, and tiredness was clearly audible.

"Leave the small talk, I helped your mages to come back, and you’re behaving like that to me?"

"You clearly haven’t changed even a single bit, sister," Velleria said, a warm smile tugging her lips.

Before Valexeria could have said anything else, a loud voice erupted through the room.

"Big sis Valexeria~," Synthia said, rushing towards her while her arms remained open.

She hugged Valexeria from behind and said cheerfully. "Did you miss me?"

Valexeria let out a light chuckle, patting the head of her. "Who wouldn’t miss you, Synthia?"

"The tower felt lifeless without you. I’m glad that you returned safely." She said.

A warm, beautiful smile tugged Synthia’s lips, chuckled brightly.

A thought curled inside Leon’s mind.

’She wasn’t behaving like that when we met senior Amon or, Max... well, I’m glad that she’s finally happy after a long trip.’

’And it’s a nice thing that I had already made Darian, Draviel, and Sylphaine go back into the core.’

Valexeria finally spoke once again to them. "You’ve got another companion, Ragnar?" She asked.

Leon gave a short nod, eyes met with Valexeria’s. "Yes, tower master."

"I don’t see that alchemist girl. Did something happen to her?" She asked.

Leon didn’t say anything for a while, but then let out a small sigh and said. "While we were travelling through ’Never Return Jungle’, we encountered treants, and during that..."

"Maybe some elves abducted her, and we weren’t able to realize it before we began searching," he said, trying his best to maintain his calm.

Valexeria’s eyebrow twitched slightly as she leaned in her chair. "Elves?" She asked.

He gave a slight nod and said. "A thread, which is used by the elven race while they perform a ritual, was left behind."

She didn’t say anything for a while, but then continued. "If the elves have taken her, then they most probably have noticed something which I did."

"That girl had the mana purity, which was comparable to an elf." She said.

Leon’s expressions darkened, but he composed himself. "What do you mean by that?"

"Some humans are prodigies; she was one of them," Valexeria said, while she looked right into his eyes.

’Hmm... this is getting out of my hands now. The hints aren’t helping, but making it more mysterious.’
