Aurdis barely registered the words of the Elven Mages around her. The battlefield beyond the window was a raging storm of steel, Magic, and blood, but all of it faded into the background as her father's anguished cry echoed through her soul.

It wasn't a sound that reached her ears. It struck something deeper, a sensation that tightened around her chest like a claw.

She stumbled forward and ran toward the broken window, hands gripping the shattered edge of the window where Eccar had broken through earlier.

The wind lashed against her face as she craned her neck upward, eyes scanning the sky. Where were they?

Then she saw it.

A dark explosion in the distance that still crackling with unnatural energy. And someone was falling from the center of it.

Her breath hitched. Her body trembled as she instinctively reached out, as if she could somehow stop his descent with sheer will alone.

"No. No, no, no—"

Footsteps behind her. Saeldir appeared at her side, his sharp gaze following hers. His expression remained composed but she could feel his tension.

"Aurdis," he said carefully.

She barely heard him.

"Aerchon... just got attacked," she choked out, her voice raw. "He's hurt!"

Saeldir's jaw tightened. He didn't doubt her words. The connection of family was a force more ancient than any Magic power. No one could sense the pain of kin like blood could.

And in a dire moment like this, that connection was absolute.

Saeldir closed his eyes for a brief second, reaching out with his own Magic to sense the battlefield.

His focus narrowed in on the presence of King Gulben. He is still alive, but his energy fluctuated with raw distress.

Aerchon's presence, however, flickered, unstable and weakened.

Saeldir exhaled.

"I will help them," he said.

Aurdis turned sharply, panic flashing in her gaze. "But—"

"No." His voice was firm and decisive. "I must go."

Aurdis clenched her fists, torn between her fear for Aerchon and her understanding of what had to be done.

"The barrier is already shattered," Saeldir continued. "Erend and Eccar are already acting. We have nothing to hold back anymore." His pale blue eyes burned with quiet resolve. "King Gulben and I must kill Laston before he does any more damage. For our people and for our pride before the Dragonborns."

Aurdis swallowed hard. She knew he was right. But that didn't make it any easier to accept.

Saeldir turned away without another word, already preparing himself for the battle ahead.

With a swift movement he teleported back to his chamber. The room was still in the same condition as he left it before.

His hands moved with precision. He grabbed his staff and his battle robe flowed around him as he fastened it in place.

After equipping his battle gear—which wasn't much—Saeldir shattered the window of his chamber and soared into the open sky. Wasting no time, he dashed toward the battlefield, where dark energy residue still lingered.

He clenched his jaw as he took in the chaotic scene. The magical barrier was gone. Elven warriors, archers, and mages fought desperately against the maddened Ogres and Daemons.

In the distance, he could see fire and dark energy coalescing—Erend was battling one of Laston's strongest subordinates. On the other side, farther away, Saeldir could sense Eccar's energy as he too clashed against another of Laston's lieutenants.

Saeldir knew they were both holding back. There had been no command from King Gulben allowing them to intervene fully, so instead of staying completely out of the fight, they were simply refraining from unleashing their full power.

But Saeldir was certain that the king wouldn't mind now. Erend and Eccar's help was desperately needed—without their intervention, the palace would have already suffered far greater destruction.

Still, it left a bitter taste.

The Elves had once insisted that they did not need help. Now, they were being forced to swallow their own words.

"Ah, that's a problem for later," Saeldir muttered to himself.

His focus shifted entirely to the battlefield in the sky. At the very least, they had to kill Laston with their own hands. If nothing else, they had to reclaim what little pride they had left.

With renewed determination burning in his heart, Saeldir increased his speed and shot toward King Gulben's place.

---

King Gulben, despite the fury and sorrow raging within him, did not let his emotions dull his edge.

With a swift and powerful slash of his sword he unleashed a surge of energy that forcefully diverted Laston's cannon blast. The dark energy directed at him veered off-course, crackling violently as it tore through the sky. Though he hadn't completely nullified the attack, it no longer threatened him.

His eyes darted toward Aerchon's falling body, desperation clawing at him. He moved to intercept but before he could, Laston's remaining two clones lunged at him, their blades flashing in perfect synchronization.

King Gulben snarled, forced to halt his advance. He swung his sword in a flurry of furious strikes, his movements driven by raw emotion.

The clones matched him, their relentless attacks keeping him locked in place. He fought with tears welling in his eyes, his heart demanding he reach his son, but his enemies refused to falter so he can't disengaged with them.

From a distance, Laston observed the scene, finding amusement in the sight of the Elven King fighting through his grief. However, he did not smile. He knew this was no longer the time to toy with his enemies any lnger.

Without hesitation, he recharged his cannons, dark energy surging into the cores at a rapid pace.

He had seen that Aerchon was not dead yet. The prince still had enough life in him to be a problem if given the chance to recover.

Laston had no intention of allowing that to happe This time, he would make sure Aerchon never rose again and cause him troble.

---

Saeldir soared through the air, his sharp eyes scanning the battlefield until he spotted Aerchon's body drifting downward. He was barely conscious.

His chest tightened at the sight. Without hesitation, he fly toward him and catching him just before he could fall any further.

He hissed and grimaced as he got a closer look. Aerchon's body was riddled with burns, the wounds pulsing with lingering dark energy, as if Laston's attack was still eating away at him from within.

Saeldir grimaced even deepere. The corruption was still active.

He cursed under his breath. He wanted to heal him but there was no time. King Gulben was still locked in battle and he was sure Laston was preparing to strike again. His duty lay in stopping him first.

He clenched his jaw and made a swift decision. With a fast Magic spell crettion, he summoned his Magic and wrapping Aerchon's body in a protective force and propelling him back toward the palace at incredible speed. He could only hope the healers would reach him in time.

With that settled, he turned his focus back to the battlefield, his grip tightening as he ascended once more.

From a distance, he saw King Gulben locked in combat, skillfully fending off Laston's two clones.

But beyond them, Saeldir's eyes narrowed at something even more urgent, Laston himself is looking like he was done charging his weapons again.

He couldn't allow another attack to land.

Without wasting another second, Saeldir stretched out his hands, his Magic surging.

A barrage of powerful attack shot through the sky toward Laston in blinding flashes of light.

Laston narrowed his eyes as streaks of bright Magic shot toward him, each one radiating with potent energy.

He gritted his teeth, recognizing the force behind the attacks. Saeldir.

Without hesitation, he adjusted his stance, pivoting slightly as he redirected one of his cannons toward the incoming barrage.

The core of the weapon pulsed violently, dark energy coalescing before he fired.

A surge of black and violet energy roared forth, colliding with Saeldir's attack midair.

BOOM!

The impact erupted in a chaotic explosion of light and shadow, sending shockwaves rippling through the sky. The clash of forces distorted the air, momentarily obscuring both of them in crackling energy.

But Laston was already moving.

His second cannon remained aimed at King Gulben. The weapon's core glowed once more, preparing to unleash another shot.

Amidst the relentless flurry of combat King Gulben's sharp gaze caught sight of Laston shifting his focus downward, momentarily distracted by Saeldir's attack. A rare opportunity.

Without hesitation, the Elf Palace King tightened his grip on his Magic energy into the blade.

His muscles tensed before he launching the weapon with immense force. The sword move through the air like silver lightning toward its target.

Laston barely registered the incoming attack before it hit him.

The blade pierced his shoulder with brutal precision. A sharp, involuntary gasp escaped his lips as pain flared through his body. His eyes widened in shock.

The cannon in his wounded arm wavered. His fingers losing strength, and the weapon slipped from his grasp.
