I Refused To Be Reincarnated-Chapter 613: Beyond Sun-Grade
Chapter 613: Beyond Sun-Grade
Adam shuddered as the man leaned over the table.
"I don’t know what a silver moon striker is, but I’ll take your words at face value." The prince smiled and gestured. "Honor to the lady. Oh." He covered his mouth playfully. "Don’t bother to ask about secret techniques. In fact, let’s not bring cultivation into our discussion, alright darling?"
Adam almost fainted when he heard the flirtatious tone and saw the wink. Was this dude that crazy? His brows twitched, but his eyes hardened. It was a good opportunity to fish for information and perhaps learn this palace’s history. And the first question was one he genuinely wanted to ask.
"For how long have you been in this room to develop such an obsession for women?"
The prince leaned a little more and sniffed his scent instead of answering. This bastard’s smile, his curved eyes... ’I want to punch him to oblivion!’
As mana rumbled in his circuits and threatened to explode, the man’s eyes narrowed into slits as he pulled back.
"Interesting energy. How long, you asked?" He tucked his fingers around his chin. "Mhh. I didn’t keep track of time, but it should be nearly fifty thousand years by now..." His voice cracked, and he bit his lip. "Fifty thousand years alone."
Adam’s eyes widened before they softened, and a sigh escaped his lips. Could he have endured solitude for that long?
The stone slabs became colder, and the dark walls oppressive as the answer flashed as bright as the sun. He would have gone madder than the prince. Now that he knew, he understood the poor man.
"Should have been hard. But try to calm down, anyway."
The prince raised his palms as he talked, but Adam’s gaze was drawn to the deep calluses. Could this thick, armor-like yellow skin belong to a human?
"I can’t promise you anything. But here is my first question: what’s the energy you used to hide your senior sister and change your gender?"
Adam rolled his eyes. "I can’t ask about cultivation, but you can ask about my techniques? It seems a little unfair, don’t you think so?"
He then told the man he had used mana and transmutation without any technical explanation.
Once done, the man nodded, his eyes sparkling with curiosity. "It’s fascinating to learn about an unknown energy after so long. I’ll change the rules to make it fair. You can now ask about general cultivation."
Adam’s eyes narrowed, and his fists trembled in response. He knew exactly what to ask.
"One of your brothers told me about the sun-grade techniques in the library. He mentioned that the emperor had one of a higher grade. Is it true, and what grade is that?"
"Tsk. That bastard who can’t keep his tongue."
The prince facepalmed, the sound echoing his irritation before a heavy silence lingered. freeωebnovēl.c૦m
Then, he took a deep breath, his face and voice growing solemn. "My father created it after millennia of research. It was his biggest treasure—something no more than three people owned in the entire realm. I don’t know what the other two called it, but he named the grade after himself: the void grade."
Adam leaned forward, his eyes bulging and his breath itching in his throat. He had to get his hands on this technique no matter what! Yet, the prince surprised him further by continuing.
"I’m not giving out too much, just enough to make you realise how incredible my father was." He let his words linger, a smug smile playing on his lips. "He could increase his spatial affinity just by meditating. And when I say spatial, I mean teleportation, void walking, and dimensional manipulation. Ha! Look at this blessed land." He opened his arms wide. "He created this dimension from scratch until it reached the size of a small province."
Adam clenched his jaw, knowing these were just the tip of the iceberg. But even that tip was enough to send his mind before a heavily chained door he had always feared to open.
’Space mastery of a transcendental level!’ His fists tightened, the knuckles white. ’I can finally learn this element.’
However, a loud chuckle and the sharp noise of a palm meeting the table shattered his thoughts.
"Give up on whatever you’re thinking. The heavens prepared different paths for each of us. My father tried to bend their will and had seventy children, yet none shared his affinity."
The prince waved his hand, his eyes igniting with a desire as profound as Adam’s. "I found comfort in the best discipline that has ever existed. So, here is my next question: can your energy be used to craft items like Qi?"
After a deep breath to calm his raging excitement, Adam smirked, summoned his mythical macuahuitl, and placed it on the table.
"Of course it can. That’s something I made nine years ago." He shook his head. "I can surely craft something better now, though."
The prince gripped it and knocked on the wood, then the triangular blades without a word. His expression hardened when he heard the feedback. What was this? He could feel the powers engraved deep inside the wood and metal but couldn’t understand them. That was a first.
"If I had to judge the crafting skills only, I’d say it’s a decent weapon that barely reached the sun-grade rank," he muttered before he shook his head and observed Adam’s woman’s features with a hint of shame.
"I didn’t know you were a craftsman. Return to your original form and forget about this shameful joke." He rose to his feet and cupped his fists, his earlier flirtatious tendencies forgotten. "I’m sorry for my earlier behavior and lacking introduction."
Adam frowned. What was this all about?
But the prince gave him no time to understand and continued.
"I’m the second prince, also known as the void palace engineer. I reached the pinnacle with nothing left to learn from anyone."
He pointed his thumb at the silent guardian standing by the corner of the room.
"I designed and crafted those puppets and my father’s weapons. But you proved me wrong."He smiled softly and nodded. "I shouldn’t have dismissed you earlier nor forced a brother who walks a similar path into a shameful discussion trial."
Adam paled. Why? It was fine to just discuss! ’Don’t change the rules every two seconds, bastard!’
Yet, the prince continued. With a wave of his rugged palm, the stone slabs split open. A furnace emerged from the ground, followed by anvils, bamboo tanks of smelly oils and acidic solutions, and other exquisite smith’s materials as his voice thundered.
"Let the real trial begin. Show me your craftsman’s soul by forging an item even I won’t forget."
A deep frown creased Adam’s brow as he cancelled the spell hiding Xie Lian. His muscles squirmed next, the bones cracking as he returned to his normal size and recovered his manhood. Yet, only worry twisted his lips.
"Are you confident?" Xie Lian’s hand trembled as it met his shoulder. All these revelations had shocked her, but not more than that trial’s difficulty. After all, the prince was an unparalleled expert. She knew even Tianlong wouldn’t hold a candle in comparison but couldn’t bring herself to despair, yet. After all, the more she learned about Adam, the more unfathomable he appeared. Perhaps he would create another miracle here, even if the chances were low.
Adam sighed as the prince snapped his fingers. A fire erupted in the furnace, the temperature rising with its crackle.
"I’m not sure. His guardians are too sophisticated, and I don’t have many high-tiered materials." The dancing flame reflected in his eyes as a smile crept on his face. "But the trial doesn’t matter. I always aim for perfection, even for the most insignificant item!"
