I reincarnated as an elf .......and married the yandere villainess.-Chapter 10:Coincidence
Atheline walked through the capital forest his destination clear, he would occasionally spot Squits that would dash up trees whenever they saw him.
One afternoon after a rough training session with his mother at fifteen he had walked into the forest just to get a breather from civilisation.
He had accidentally stumbled upon a small bend of the river that seemed to have separated from the main river and formed a small pool.
It contained a small amount of ether but what made it beautiful was the flowers floating on top of it and its perfectly warm temperature that never went cold even during winter.
For the first time after months of running after the prince and training, he had finally gotten time to relax.
"Haa... this feels like heaven," Atheline muttered to himself as his naked body sank into the pool.
He leaned back placing his head on the rock behind him and closing his eyes to rest as the Aether entered his channels and he unconsciously circulated it.
He didn’t know how much time passed but he felt the world had gone quiet.
The birds and Squits that had been running around had gone quiet. His body tensed, he didn’t know what was happening but he could feel the danger around him.
He started to redirect the converted Aether to his hands as he prepared his body to attack.
"Don’t. I’d hate to have to remove your pretty head!" A cold female voice came from above.
Atheline froze midcast. It was his intention, but the killing intent that suddenly covered him was so intense that it drowned him.
He could feel his breath becoming lighter as he hurriedly circulated his Aether to prevent his mind from being affected.
Whoever had approached him was incredibly strong, he couldn’t measure their strength but even his father’s killing intent wasn’t that thick.
This one felt tangible.
"Who are you?" Atheline asked and hesitantly opened his eyes.
’What the fuck is a dark elf doing in the kingdom ’
The woman was smirking down at him, her eyes holding a playful glint despite the killing intent pouring out of her.
Atheline forced a smile as he tried to maintain his noble decorum while his mind raced.
Had he lost track of time somehow? Has the elves’ arrival time been pushed forward?
"Could you please put your intent away?" Atheline decided to take a gamble after she didn’t answer his first question.
The killing intent vanished as though it didn’t exist. The forest that seemed to have stopped went back to normal.
"Ooh yes, I forgot you high elves are delicate little things," she said in amusement.
Atheline could see a trace of mockery in the way she talked, she probably really meant it.
’What father said was true, dark elves are walking killing brutes, who walk around spewing killing intent unprovoked’
Atheline sat up and turned to look at her while still seated in the pool.
The woman in front of him was beautiful.
’Fuck’
Grayish skin, paired with golden eyes that seemed to shine down at him as they observed him, perfect plump lips painted black, and sharp features.
She looked regal, someone who clearly commanded obedience without even asking.
She was wearing a dark blue shirt that was open at the top giving a glimpse of a cleavage that seemed to be spilling out, leather trousers that accentuated her body, and black combat high-heeled shoes that didn’t have a speck of dirt.
These were clothes that most dark elf soldiers wore, except for the unbuttoning part that is. He had seen it in the pictures.
’And why would a dark elf soldier come here? Is she a spy? I should probably tell father after this?’
Personally, he has never seen a dark elf in his short life. He had mostly listened about them from his father whenever they were complaining about them, especially their queen who was deemed a lunatic and a war maniac.
"And what is a dark elf doing here," Atheline asked as he got out of the water while maintaining eye contact with her.
He picked up his clothes and started to dress. Though he acted cold and carefree, Atheline was having a panic attack inside.
’This is so fucking embarrassing...and why the fuck did this woman stumble here, the forest is so big. Today was my off day Goddammit’
The dark elf waited for him to dress as her eyes shamelessly roamed over his body without the usual noble lady’s shame.
Atheline dressed faster but elegantly, faster than he had ever dressed in his life.
"You know it’s against the rules of any species to enter the border without explicit permission right?" Atheline said.
He placed his hands before him ready to defend if she was ever attacked.
He has killed his fair share but it seems he was still behind schedule.
"I have permission, you sure talk a lot do you?"
’I only asked three questions ’
Atheline chuckled softly.
"Really, I never noticed. And you barely talk."
The dark elf’s eyes widened before she burst out into laughter.
’Her laugh is pretty’
"Are you lost perhaps?" Atheline tried another method.
Direct questions weren’t working.
"No. I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be."
"Really, I don’t see a permission slip," he pointed at her waist where it should be.
The elf shook her head.
"Here. "
She showed the token. A small square wooden piece made from fallen world tree branches.
He read what was scribbled on it his eyes widening.
"You’re a warrior, weren’t you meant to arrive next week for the wedding?" He asked as he tried to make sense of the situation.
Had he really confused dates or was there a schedule change?
"I’m the first envoy... let’s forget about all that. What’s your name?"
"Atheline.. Atheline Sunblade, it’s nice to meet," his family was well known for its strength.
He just hoped his family name would change the dynamics of the situation.
"You’re Helmer’s son huh.. I’ve met him a few times," she said nonchalantly.
’Yap, dark elves are weird’
A breeze blew by, blowing her shoulder-length black hair to the side. It revealed a multitude of piercing on her ears that had been concealed by her hair.
She noticed him looking.
"Want one? You seem interested, " she said jokingly.
Atheline shook his head. He wasn’t about to take candy from strangers.
"No thanks, I just find them.....unique."
While elves put on shiny or golden jewelry, dark elves seemed to lean on their darkness more.
At that moment a loud toll bell rang, vibrating through the whole forest.
’Midday, time to run. "
Atheline had been looking for an excuse and it came at the right time. He couldn’t stand her piercing gaze, it felt as though he was being stripped naked and his soul being examined.
"It was nice meeting you but I should leave, " he said hesitantly and turned to leave.
She didn’t stop him. Atheline disappeared into the forest faster than his noble legs could carry him.
Behind him, the woman chuckled at his panic. Her gaze was then caught by something glinting near the pool under a rock.
She reached over and picked it. It was a golden bangle. Aether flowed out of it in measured quantities and tried to enter her body but it bounced off as though it didn’t belong.
"Sunfire crystals," she brought it closer to herself, " Pretty."
She released her killing intent again and walked back the way she came from. She would return the jewellery tomorrow.
