I Rule Fortune-Telling Livestreams-Chapter 23: Live Stream Banned
In the live stream, Shen Zhiyao glanced at the time and decided it was about right. "We’ll postpone the third reading for now," she announced. "First, let’s do a follow-up for Granny Xunzi."
[AHHHH! I finally caught the follow-up!]
[Has the granny found her son yet?! The boy should still be alive, right? That poor granny... I really hope nothing happened to her son!]
[I really hope the kid is okay! I hope the granny and her son are both all right!]
When the video call connected, the camera showed a pitch-black road. Two heads suddenly popped into the frame, startling everyone in the live stream.
Granny Xunzi turned on her phone’s flashlight and asked anxiously, "Streamer, we’re on our way to the Sealed Door Factory, but the road is very strange... We’ve been walking on this path for over half an hour and still can’t see the factory. We tied a red cloth to a tree, and after walking for ten minutes, we saw the same red cloth again. We’re trapped by a ghost, walking in circles! Streamer, how do we break free?"
Shen Zhiyao took a sip of water. "You’re not being led astray by a ghost. You just took the wrong path. Turn left now. You’ll see the Sealed Door Factory in 300 meters."
Granny Xunzi and Chopped Dead Scum took their phone and headed left.
The path to the left was so narrow that it was easy to miss if you weren’t looking carefully.
Three hundred meters later, a massive factory appeared before them.
The granny grew very excited and started walking toward the factory without a second thought, but Shen Zhiyao stopped her. "Don’t use the main gate. Five hundred meters to the right, there’s a hole in the wall. Go through there."
Following Shen Zhiyao’s directions, the two of them soon entered the factory grounds.
The factory was already in a remote location, and now, late at night, it was pitch-black all around. Only the industrial smog hanging in the air coated the factory’s outline in an eerie, dark-red haze.
Chopped Dead Scum turned on his phone’s flashlight. Its beam cut through the darkness, illuminating a path overgrown with weeds.
After walking for about five or six minutes, rows of workshops appeared in the flashlight’s beam. They stopped at the third workshop from the east.
It was a dilapidated workshop. Its siding had been in disrepair for years, and in the faint breeze, the outer sheets of metal swayed like phantoms in the night sky.
A patch of earth near the workshop’s entrance seemed particularly out of place. Its color was a shade darker than the surrounding soil.
In the live stream, sharp-eyed viewers immediately noticed something wasn’t right:
[Wait, look. That patch of dirt looks fresh. Something’s wrong with it. My grandma is an archaeologist, and she says that’s exactly the kind of mark left behind after something’s been buried.]
[Holy crap, the streamer actually got it right! Good lord! She’s so far away, but she pinpointed the exact location with just one reading.]
Granny Xunzi stared at that patch of ground, her body trembling uncontrollably.
’Maybe it’s just a coincidence. Maybe my son just got lost and is staying at a friend’s house!’
Chopped Dead Scum said no more. He just pulled a folding shovel from his backpack.
With a CLICK, the shovel unfolded.
He took a deep breath, aimed for the patch of fresh earth, and started digging.
As the first shovelful of dirt came up, Granny Xunzi nervously clutched the Great Black Buddha Mother Bracelet on her wrist.
It was part of a matching set she shared with her son, with each of their names engraved on them.
A blessing bestowed upon them by the Great Black Buddha Mother.
Back in the live stream, Shen Zhiyao’s cool gaze seemed to pierce through the screen, seeing a supernatural vision invisible to ordinary people.
Behind Granny Xunzi stood the ghost soul of a young man covered from head to toe in blood.
The boy’s throat had a horrific gash, so deep the bone was visible. Wounds of various sizes also dotted his torso over his vital organs, with black, resentful energy continuously seeping out of them.
He stretched out a deathly pale hand, pointing at the disturbed soil below. His gaze fell upon Granny Xunzi, full of sorrow, as two trails of bloody tears streamed from his eyes.
But soon, that sorrow transformed into monstrous resentment and indignation, causing his entire ghostly form to distort.
Shen Zhiyao knew that if this resentment wasn’t quelled, he would soon transform into an evil ghost and wreak havoc upon the world.
Only by avenging him could his soul find peace.
Inside the Sealed Door Factory, Chopped Dead Scum was grunting with effort as he dug, beads of sweat forming on his forehead.
His heart sank with every shovelful of earth.
A thick, putrid stench began to rise from the soil, so overpowering it was hard to keep one’s eyes open.
The viewers in the live stream held their breath.
Suddenly, the folding shovel seemed to strike something soft, yet firm.
Chopped Dead Scum froze. He shone his flashlight on the spot and saw a sliver of bright red in the dirt. It was a red plastic sheet.
His pupils contracted instantly. The live stream chat exploded.
[It’s red! It’s red plastic sheeting!]
[HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT, the streamer was right about everything, even the color!]
[She can make a prediction that accurate from so far away... Is the streamer a reincarnated deity?]
[Oh my god, the streamer’s remote divination is on another level!]
Seeing this, Granny Xunzi let out a bloodcurdling scream.
She lost all control and lunged forward like a madwoman, clawing frantically at the earth with her bare hands. Her fingernails broke and her fingers bled, but she didn’t even notice.
Soon, she had unearthed the large, red plastic bundle. With trembling hands, she began to undo the tight knot.
"Lele, it can’t be... It’s definitely not Lele... It can’t possibly be Lele... The streamer must be trying to scare me!"
she murmured to herself, tears and dirt mixing together to smudge her entire face.
The plastic sheet came undone, revealing a ghastly pale, bloodless face. It was her son, Chen Jiale, who had been missing for six months.
On his wrist, he still wore the Great Black Buddha Mother Bracelet engraved with both their names.
Granny Xunzi’s eyes lost focus instantly. She stared blankly at the familiar face, not a single sound escaping her throat as her body trembled uncontrollably.
Chopped Dead Scum also sucked in a sharp breath. He’d been a soldier, competed in fighting tournaments, and seen dead bodies before, but even he felt his scalp tingle in shock at the sight before him.
The corpse had massive cavities where its organs should have been. Its body was riddled with syringes, some of which even had cigarette butts stuffed inside them.
Chopped Dead Scum pulled out his phone, his voice cracking. "Hello, 911? I need to report a crime. A body has been discovered at the Sealed Door Factory."
Tens of thousands of viewers in the live stream witnessed the horror-movie scene unfold in real time. The chat went absolutely wild:
[HOLY CRAP, they actually dug it up! They really dug it up! AHHHH! It’s so late, this is scaring me to death!!]
[Oh my god! I’ve never seen a dead body in my life, and I never thought the first time would be on a live stream!]
[I’ve never seen a stream this intense in my entire life. Are they even allowed to show this? They’re gonna get banned on the spot!]
[I doubt it! Douyin Live Stream isn’t that petty. No way they’d ban a stream over something like this!]
Just as that comment appeared...
...the screen went black. A cold, formal notification appeared:
[This live stream has been banned for violating regulations and promoting feudal superstitions. The host may resume streaming in 36 hours.]
