I Sell Bottled Water for Gold in Another World!-Chapter 226: Merciless Execution
SPLASH!
SPLASH!
SPLASH!
Within minutes, all four men were awake, bound, and they were all looking at Mei with expressions on their faces, like fear and confusion.
"So," Mei said in that same terrifyingly calm voice that she used when giving her punishments, "how did you all end up unconscious here and not at your places..... also how does our prisoner got away?"
The four men looked at each other nervously. They all wanted someone else to talk.
Mei’s hand went to the handle of her dagger. "Well?" she said, she was waiting for an answer. "I am waiting "
The man with the beard looked really scared as his face went pale. His words came out in a rush, desperate and stuttering.
"Boss, it is not me! It is not me! They were the ones—" He gestured frantically at the other three with his bound hands. "They were going to do bad things with the girl! They wanted to rape her, humiliate her! But I wanted no part of it! I swear—"
"Say it again?" Mei interrupted coldly. Damn these animals, tried to disobey her, how dare they.
The temperature in the cave seemed to drop several degrees.
The bearded man’s face went pale and he swallowed. "No! No, Boss, they were the ones who were wrong, not me! I heard them talking about it and I tried to leave.
I wanted to get as far away from there as possible. But before I could, someone knocked me out from behind!
I was not with them, Boss! I clearly followed your instructions not to harm the girl!"
As if he saw distrust in her eyes, the bandit began to literally cry right now. "Boss, they said that while you were not here, they could humilate her however they wanted!
Boss, please! Please spare me! I followed your orders! I am not wrong!"
Mei turned her cold gaze to the other three men, who had all gone deathly pale.
"Is this true?" she asked quietly.
The large man opened his mouth to protest, to deny, to make some excuse.
But the look in Mei’s eyes told him that lies would only make his death more painful.
"We... we were just talking, Boss," he said weakly. "We did not actually planing to do anything. The smoke came before—"
"Before you could rape her," Mei finished, her voice absolutely devoid of emotion.
The three men said nothing, their silence confirming the accusation.
Mei stood perfectly still, watching them with cold eyes.
She had heard enough.
This was not the first time she had dealt with men who thought they could disobey her orders when she was not looking. Hell! It was not even the fifth time.
After her father died and she took over the group, there had been constant challenges to her authority.
Men who refused to follow a woman. Men who thought they could do whatever they wanted because she was young and inexperienced.
But staying with them, she had learned quickly that the only way to maintain control was through fear and swift punishment.
Kill one to warn a hundred.
Her father had not been a good man. He had been cruel, violent, and cared nothing for the suffering of others. He had ruled through brutality and terror.
But he had taught her one valuable lesson: weakness would get you killed.
And right now, she could not afford to show weakness.
Not when her authority was already shaky in their minds after the public reveal of her identity, it had caused her no small troubles.
She cannot show weakness, not when the men were questioning whether a woman could really lead them.
She needed to remind them why they should fear her. But before that, she needed to know what happened properly while she was not here.
Mei drew both of her curved daggers in one smooth motion.
"Boss, no!" the scarred man cried out. "He is lying! We were just talking! We have no such intentions to disobey your orders, we did not do anything!"
"Boss, please!" the large man begged. "We made a mistake! We will never—"
"Mercy, Boss! Have mercy!" the young one sobbed.
"Do not worry, you will not get such an easy death so soon; as I am not done with you yet," Mei cut him off sharply. "Now. I want the complete truth. What really happened after the smoke appeared? Tell me everything, and I might give you swift deaths."
The three men exchanged desperate looks.
The scarred man swallowed hard. "Boss, we were talking about the girl. Then these metal cylinders came flying in. Three or four of them. They hit the ground and made this loud hissing sound. White smoke poured out so fast we could not react in time."
"And then?"
"The smoke filled everything. we could not see anything. I tried to run but I felt a little dizzy after walking a short distance."
"Same for me," the large man added quickly. "Like my body was shutting down. I could not fight it."
Mei listened without expression. "So you all simply fell asleep? No one attacked you?"
"No, Boss. I felt a blow to the back of my neck. Someone knocked me out, but other than that, there was no attack. No one even shouted before it happened. We only woke up when your men threw water on us."
"And the girl?"
"We do not know, Boss. She was in the back. We were moving toward her when the smoke appeared. After that, we remember nothing."
Mei remained silent for a moment.
Those metal cylinders.
The white smoke that knocked men unconscious without killing them, no one has the means to do something like that, No one but one.
Alex. It had to be only him; otherwise, there was no one; no one who had the means to do something like this.
But that could wait, she has some more pressing matters to attend to right now.
"Boss, wait!" the young one begged, struggling against his bonds. "We made a mistake! We will never—"
"You are correct," Mei agreed calmly. "You will never do anything ever again."
Her patrol members who had been watching this exchange took an instinctive step backward, knowing what was coming.
They had seen Mei execute men before for far lesser offenses, but this was far greater than that. They were doomed.
Mei stepped closer to the large man. The blade pressed harder against his throat, drawing a thin line of blood.
"Since I started managing this group, I have set many rules. And one of those rules was that rape was forbidden in the camp. Because men who could not control themselves were animals.
And animals could not be trusted. Any man who touched a woman without her consent would die slowly and painfully as an example to the others."
"Boss—" the large man tried one last desperate plea.
Mei continued. "Consider this a lesson to everyone else about what happens when you disobey my direct orders."
The dagger flashed.
The large man’s eyes went wide with shock and pain as Mei’s blade slit his throat in one smooth motion.
Blood sprayed across the cave floor, dark and hot in the cold morning air.
He made a horrible gurgling sound, his bound body thrashing weakly for several seconds.
Then he went still, his eyes staring sightlessly at the cave ceiling above.
The scarred man began screaming.
Mei moved to him without hesitation. Her blade found his throat just as easily. More blood spilled across the stone floor.
Her blade fell for the third time. and then... silence.
Mei stood slowly. She looked down at the three corpses without expression.
The bearded man was shaking violently. His eyes were wide with terror. He had just watched three men die in less than a minute.
Mei walked over to him. She cleaned her daggers carefully before sheathing them.
"You tried to stop them. That is why you are still alive."
"Thank you, Boss! Thank you!" the bearded man gasped.
"That is the only reason you are still breathing," Mei informed him. "But you also abandoned your guard post. That is still a failure of duty."
She gestured to one of her patrol members. "Untie him."
The patrol member quickly cut the bearded man’s bonds.
He sat up slowly, rubbing his wrists where the ropes had cut into his skin, not daring to look at the three bodies nearby.
"You have one chance to redeem yourself," Mei told him.
"Yes, Boss!" the bearded man said quickly, relief flooding through him. "Yes, I understand! Thank you, Boss! Thank you!"
"Do not thank me yet," Mei said coldly. "If you fail me again, you will join them."
She turned to address her four patrol members who had been watching the executions in silence.
"Drag these bodies outside and burn them," she commanded. "I want no trace left in this cave. Then scout the area for any tracks or signs of where the attacker went."
"Yes, Boss!" they responded in unison, immediately moving to obey.
