I Turned Filthy Rich Just By Sleeping With Women?!-Chapter 40: The Guilt Sink In
Chapter 40: The Guilt Sink In
Zhao Yiming was a bit startled when he saw the alert notification. But he understood why Luo Yanyu was disappointed in him.
Before she could turn away to make the call, he stepped forward and bowed slightly, his voice low and sincere.
"I’m sorry for dragging you into this... You’re the only one I can count on right now."
He lifted his head slowly, offering a faint smile. "So, don’t take it the wrong way, Yanyu. I’ll make it up to you with a date if you don’t mind. Or would you prefer a gift?"
Her eyes widened. She held her phone against her chest. "Well... I want a day with you," she muttered, barely audible.
Zhao Yiming tilted his head. "Hm? What did you say?"
"Ugh! I said I want to spend a day with you only!" she shouted, stomping her foot as her cheeks flushed crimson. "Not like a date or because I like you or anything!"
He laughed, warm and relaxed. "Of course. We’ll spend the whole day together. You can pick where we go—somewhere fun. Maybe even a nice vacation."
"Good," she huffed, turning around.
She tried to hide her smile with a frown, but her lips betrayed her, curving upward no matter how hard she fought it.
Zhao Yiming exhaled in relief, then glanced at the floating notification:
---
[You have successfully saved Luo Yanyu’s mood!]
[Her Affection has increased by +5!]
[The God of Richness & Love has sent you a message!]
"Nice save! But don’t you dare exploit her kindness! Also—TAKE HER TO A NICE BEACH! WITH A NICE BIKINI!"
---
He rolled his eyes. ’Always running his mouth, that perverted deity... But they aren’t wrong. She really is kind—maybe too kind.’
"But before I call my boss..." Luo Yanyu’s eyes turned sharp. "Can you tell me what actually happened? Did you... actually kill him?"
Zhao Yiming’s jaw tightened. Slowly, he nodded.
"It was a fight," he said, his voice heavy. "I didn’t mean for it to end like that."
He let out a long breath. The weight of it all pressed down—more than just the blood, more than just the body.
Jin Haolong had been scum, no question... but even so... did he deserve to die like that?
Luo Yanyu studied him. The guilt in his eyes was clear. He wasn’t faking it, and she could see the storm behind his quiet gaze.
"As long as it wasn’t for fun... and you’re not some kind of psycho," she murmured.
Her feelings were tangled. The rational thing would’ve been to run, call the police, and wash her hands of it. But instead, here she was—wanting to help.
If it had been anyone else, she’d already be halfway out the door.
But it was Zhao Yiming.
And something inside her refused to abandon him.
"Thank you... for believing me," he said softly.
"You don’t need to say anything more. I’ll call my boss now," she replied, stepping into another room.
Before Zhao Yiming could even process her words, a gentle touch on his back made him flinch.
He turned and saw Su Meilin standing behind him.
"That’s the girl you mentioned earlier, isn’t it?" she asked. Her voice was soft, but the edge was unmistakable. "You two seem close."
Zhao Yiming hesitated for a moment. Lying would only dig the hole deeper.
"She’s a friend," he said plainly. "And yes... we’re close. I’ll explain everything later if that’s alright."
She gave a slow nod. There was something unreadable in her eyes—perhaps jealousy, perhaps worry—but she said nothing more.
Not long after, Luo Yanyu returned.
"My boss said they’ll take care of it. And... don’t touch anything."
Zhao Yiming let out a sigh of relief. "So we just wait?"
"Yeah... but, um... the pay is a lot," she added hesitantly.
"Doesn’t matter. I have plenty." He shrugged.
With the system backing him, money was the least of his concerns.
"No, I mean a lot, as in... it might cost more than just money." fгeewebnovёl.com
Zhao Yiming’s smile faltered. Her last sentence hit him like a brick. He knew the Black Orchid’s leader—Madam Ruan—was the type to squeeze every ounce of benefit out of any situation.
A chill ran down his spine. ’What if she wants me working for her forever? Or... selling my soul for this one favor?’
But before he could spiral deeper, something even more terrifying happened.
Su Meilin smiled sweetly and turned to Luo Yanyu.
"It’ll be awkward if we all just stand here... Let’s wait in the family room, shall we?"
Luo Yanyu nodded stiffly, clearly trying to hide her nervousness. Zhao Yiming mirrored it, his face frozen in a strained smile.
’They’re not going to start something, right?’ he thought, trying to stay calm. ’We literally just killed someone. Isn’t that more important?!’
But the atmosphere in the room turned increasingly suffocating. The two women sat on either side of him on the sofa—each unwilling to give up their spot—leaving Zhao Yiming trapped between them.
Neither said a word. Neither moved an inch. And neither seemed willing to leave his side.
The tension wrapped around him like a noose. Especially when they started to introduce themselves and talk...
Zhao Yiming sat between them like a hostage, trying not to breathe too loudly.
’Why are we doing this now?! There’s a dead body in the hallway!’
His eyes shifted to Jin Haolong’s corpse—that arrogant prick man whose mouth running like a wheel now silent. His eyes opened wide as if looking at him, judging him, blaming him.
And suddenly, he wasn’t in the room anymore—he was back in the fight, fists flying, rage burning, chaos exploding.
Over and over again, he replayed the moment in his mind. What could he have done differently? Should he have dodged? Should he have never come here at all?
His eyes dropped to his hands.
Blood.
It wasn’t his... but it clung to him anyway.
Without a word, he stood and walked briskly to the powder room.
He turned on the faucet and began scrubbing his hands. Hard.
But the blood wouldn’t come off.
It clung to his skin like guilt itself—thick, red, permanent.
"What the hell have I done...?" he whispered to the mirror. "I killed him. I’m a murderer now..."
He didn’t know how long he stood there, rubbing his hands raw. Minutes? Hour?
A knock on the door broke the silence.
"Zhao," Luo Yanyu called gently from the other side. "Boss is here."
