I Want to Die, But I Am Immortal-Chapter 103: Blast (7)
Before Johnny could even reach the main gate Adam had killed all sixty of his remaining men on the ground floor. He moved through them like a phantom his rifle spitting death.
Johnny stared in disbelief at the carnage around him the floor of his factory now a gruesome carpet of dead bodies.
He finally reached the gate his last hope of escape. And then he saw him. The man who had been torturing Sophia the one who had pulled her hair was tied to the gate his arms pinned by bent steel rebar.
He was alive but his eyes were wide with a terror that went beyond physical pain.
Johnny’s own eyes widened in horror. This bounty is not just a number, he thought his heart pounding a frantic drum against his ribs. We made a big mistake. I wasn’t prepared for this. I wasn’t prepared for him.
He had called for backup. He had another hundred men on standby ready to swarm the factory at his command. But he knew they would not arrive in time.
The explosion in the other building had thrown everything into chaos. His communication lines were down. He was on his own.
But it did not matter. If he could just get out of here he could regroup. He had the money the resources to start over. He was a survivor. He would live to fight another day.
He tried to ignore the man tied to the gate and pushed the heavy metal door open. He and his last few bodyguards stepped out into the night air. But as they did his men started to fall. He turned and saw them collapsing to the ground their throats slit their blood pooling on the pavement.
He looked back into the factory and saw Adam standing there. He was covered in their blood from all over, his clothes soaked a deep crimson.
His eyes glowed with a cold fears light a terrifying intensity that seemed to pierce right through Johnny’s soul. He was not a boy. He was a demon. And he had come for him.
His face was clean now but his hands were covered in blood.
He held a combat knife in his hand the one he had just used to kill Johnny’s last remaining bodyguards. Johnny looked around at the bodies scattered on the factory floor.
He was the only one left standing.
From under the heavy piece of sheet metal Sophia was watching everything. She saw the carnage the blood the dead bodies. She saw the cold fury in Adam’s eyes. She was terrified. She closed her eyes squeezing them shut as if to block out the horrifying reality of what was happening.
Johnny stood frozen in fear his body trembling. "I’m sorry," he stammered his voice a pathetic whimper. "I’ll do whatever you want. I’ll give you anything. Just let me go."
But Adam was not listening to him. His attention was focused on Sophia. "Sophia," he shouted his voice echoing in the silent factory. "No matter what happens don’t open your eyes."
Sophia who was now lying face down on the cold concrete floor squeezed her eyes even tighter.
"And cover your ears," Adam added his voice a firm command.
Adam is aware that Sophia is observing everything, yet this is all he can offer to her right now.
Sophia obediently covered her ears with her hands blocking out the sounds of the slaughter that was about to unfold.
Johnny was so scared that he stumbled backwards and fell to the floor. The heavy factory gate was still closed. There was no escape.
The man who had been torturing Sophia the one who was still pinned to the gate by the steel rebar regained consciousness. He was in a lot of pain but what he saw in front of him was even more terrifying than the physical agony.
Adam covered in blood from head to toe holding a dripping knife in his hand was walking slowly towards him.
Johnny looked at his trapped comrade his face a mask of abject fear. He did not say a word. He could not.
"Boss help me!" the man named Pablo screamed his voice filled with a desperate terror that was almost inhuman. "Please boss!"
But Johnny was too scared to move too scared to speak. He was a statue a monument to his own cowardice.
Adam stood in front of Pablo his expression a cold empty void. He twirled the bloody knife in his hand a mesmerizing dance of death. He then plunged the blade into Pablo’s hand pinning it to the heavy metal gate. Pablo’s scream echoed through the factory a high-pitched shriek of pure agony.
Adam pulled the knife out with a sickening squelch and plunged it into Pablo’s other hand. Pablo’s screams grew louder more desperate a symphony of suffering.
Sophia could still hear his screams even with her hands pressed tightly against her ears. The sound was a physical thing a wave of pure horror that washed over her. "Adam please no more," she whispered her voice a pathetic whimper a prayer that was lost in the cacophony of pain.
But Adam did not hear her. Or if he did he ignored her. He was lost in a red haze of fury a relentless storm of violence. He stabbed Pablo again and again his fury a bottomless well of rage.
He was not just killing him. He was destroying him. He was making him pay for every tear Sophia had shed every moment of fear she had endured.
Pablo’s screams echoed through the factory for several long agonizing minutes. Johnny watched in horrified silence his mind completely numb. He could not move. He could not speak.
He could only watch as Adam unleashed his brutal merciless fury. Fear had completely paralyzed him. He was no longer a king a leader an influential figure in the underworld. He was just a small scared man in the presence of a god of death. And he knew that his turn was coming next.
