Chapter 77: Revenge

After attacking his old friends in a one-sided manner, Adam left the scene of the crime. He went to a quiet alley to gather his thoughts and check his gear.

He used his mental ability to open his system’s inventory, which made the familiar blue screen appear just for him. He looked over his weapons.

It has three guns. Each one fully loaded. The gun he had used in the club without making a noise. Another regular handgun that he got from one of the killers at Sophia’s house.

He took a third from the dead police officer on the hill. He had a lot of weapons for all of them. He had his knife with him. He had a lot of weapons.

He made some changes to his school bag’s straps and pulled it tight against his back. It seemed strange to still have a normal thing from something that was no longer there. It was part of his cover, though. He was just a student. The boy with the backpack looked like he was not carrying any weapons.

With his new super-fast speed, he made his way back to Saman City. He got out of the club a lot faster than when he was with his companions. The entrance’s flashing lights give off a bright, ugly glow.

He saw them.

He saw Joseph and Eric. They were just ahead of him, moving the heavy club’s main door open. They were going inside without him.

Adam’s face lit up with a cold smile. The slight sadness he still felt about being betrayed by them went away totally, and was replaced by a terrifying sense of chance.

"This is a good chance," he said in the dark. "All of my enemies are in one place, All of them will die."

The scene changed in the main room of the club. The same luxurious place where Adam died in the last loop. JonkerX waited on the big plush couch. Two of his most faithful men stood on either side of him. The rest of his paid goons were hiding in plain sight around the room, trying to look like they were not there.

The door was opened. I saw Eric and Joseph walk in. They looked worried on their faces. The sight of Adam had made them look pale and scared. They moved slowly toward the couch where JokerX was sitting. A few feet away, they stopped. It looked like two kids were called into the principal’s office.

JokerX looked at them and then at the empty space behind them. He did not stand up. He did not change the way he was sitting. He did not say anything; he just stared at them.

"I do not see your friend," he said in a low, scary voice. "The one you were supposed to bring me."

Eric and Joseph looked at each other nervously. They had done this before. On the way here, they made up a story. Eric tried to calm down by taking a deep breath.

"Sir, please give us one more time," he begged, his voice a little shaking. "Adam will be brought here, We promise. It just came up. He was having a bad day."

JokerX just kept staring at them. His face was just a mask. He did not answer when they begged him to. He did nothing but watch them move.

Eric and Joseph both broke out in a cold sweat. These people were scared of this man. But the thought of the money took away the pain very well.

Every one gets a million dollars. It was a huge amount of money. That was enough to solve all their troubles. They only needed to bring Adam here the next day. There was still one more chance for them. It was up to them to get this man to give it to them.

After being still for a long time, JokerX finally spoke. He slowly got up. He put a smile on his face. It was a big, scary smile that did not go to his eyes. He went over to the two boys. He stopped in front of them, making them feel overwhelmed.

He said, "So," in a voice that sounded nicer than it was. "You failed to do your job. These days you want more time from me."

They felt a wave of relief wash over them. He was not angry in tone. He was happy. They believed he would agree. The person who called them last night and offered them a lot of money seemed willing to listen. They felt a spark of hope in their hearts. Even though they were scared, it looked like everything would be okay. It was silly of them to worry.

"Yes, sir," Joseph said quickly, getting his voice back. "We can do it, We are sure we can. We only need until tomorrow."

They thought they had done well. They were sure they were safe. They were wrong.

Something unexpected occurred. JokerX’s cheerful smile disappeared replaced by a look of cold rage. He raised his hand. It was a blur of movement.

Slap!

He attacks Eric across the face. The sound echoed around the quiet room. Eric yelled out in disbelief rather than pain as he stumbled sideways and crashed into a small table. He collapsed on the floor, clutching his cheek, a red handprint already appearing on his thin skin.

Before Joseph could respond, JokerX’s other hand shot out.

Slap!

He hit Joseph with the same savage power. Joseph stumbled backwards and slumped to the floor beside his friend. The hope that had filled their chests moments before was destroyed, replaced with shocking horror.
