I Was Not Meant To Exist-Chapter 52: humanity’s highest trial
Above the sky, a gathering of clouds tried to cover the sunlight, even so the sunlight still tried to find gaps to give warmth to the earth, and that obstructed light reached a small glass window in a large building.
That glass was located in one corner of the building, its position almost level with the ground, people passed by outside the building, walking past it without paying it any attention.
Behind that small glass was a room, a large glass wall separating that room, acting as if it were a cage imprisoning whatever was inside it.
Inside that glass-enclosed room, a bed for one person could be seen, and on top of it lay an adult man with short-cropped blond hair.
The man lay there while covering his eyes with one of his arms.
No sound could be heard inside that cell, not even the wind could penetrate that glass enclosure.
After lying there without moving even slightly, suddenly his ear twitched, he faintly heard the sound of footsteps.
Slowly the short-haired blond man moved his arm away, his face was gradually revealed, his blue eyes stared at the ceiling, there was a cut wound on his dry lips, a thin mustache and beard had slowly grown wild on that man’s face.
A breath escaped from him when he realized there were three figures watching him from behind the large glass wall in that room.
Those figures were wearing white robes.
The short-haired blond man turned toward the three figures, each of them having a different hair color.
Slowly the short-haired blond man began to rise from his bed, the white shirt he wore unconsciously showing the muscles beneath it.
The man’s blue eyes looked toward the three robed figures.
"So it’s already time? Adan, Russ, Thomas?"
Adan stroked his chin while looking at the appearance of the man behind the glass wall.
"You look better than when you were outside, Clay."
Clay massaged his neck and cracked his bones.
"Don’t talk nonsense, Adan."
Adan chuckled upon hearing that.
Thomas, who stood between Adan and Russ, spoke.
"Come closer here, Clay. People are already waiting."
A rough sigh came from Clay, he slowly stood up and stretched his body.
"Isn’t that a bit too harsh, Thomas? Do you think I’m a traitor? You know I’m not the culprit, right?"
Thomas placed his hand on the glass wall separator, and when his hand touched it, a rectangular hole appeared, splitting open the glass wall.
"You were the one who insisted on guarding the Bone of Malakar....and for all we know, this could all be an act, right?"
Clay walked toward the glass wall with the hole in it, picking at his ear.
"Does that even make sense? Why would I make things difficult for myself like that?"
Clay placed both of his hands on the rectangular opening, his hands now able to feel the air outside his room.
Russ took out a pair of glass handcuffs from his smart bracelet, he fastened them tightly around Clay’s wrists.
Clay looked at the glass handcuffs, he grimaced slightly.
"Damn...I never thought I’d end up wearing the queen’s glass handcuffs."
After the glass handcuffs were tightly secured, the transparent glass wall blocking them slowly disappeared, the sound of shattering could be heard, but no glass fragments could be seen scattered on the ground.
Russ walked first, Clay followed him while Adan and Thomas were behind him.
They walked through a corridor where on both sides there were rooms identical to Clay’s, with the same transparent glass walls.
Clay sighed at the intensity of his escort.
"Did your kids come? Damn, I don’t want to become a bad example."
The three of them stayed silent for a moment before Thomas answered.
"They’re all here except Mira..."
Clay chuckled when he heard that, and Thomas’s brow furrowed upon hearing it.
"What are you laughing at?"
Clay shrugged, he stopped chuckling.
"Is your daughter still researching demon energy potions? Such a persistent child—"
Before Clay could finish speaking, Thomas grabbed his head and slammed it into the glass wall they were passing.
The sound echoed through the corridor, Adan and Russ immediately tried to stop Thomas.
"Hey hey calm yourself, Thomas."
"This bastard’s mouth really can’t be controlled."
But Thomas kept pressing Clay’s head against the glass wall.
"That was too far, you know?"
Clay gritted his teeth, he smiled slightly.
"I know, I know. Sorry Thomas, I haven’t interacted with people in a long time..."
Thomas’s eyes trembled slightly hearing Clay’s answer, he gritted his teeth.
Adan and Russ tried to stop him before
something undesirable happened.
Thomas finally released his grip on Clay’s head.
The two of them stared at each other, but Adan immediately pushed Clay to keep walking.
"What a lunatic..."
Adan and Russ walked first toward the end of the corridor before climbing the stairs.
Thomas looked at him from behind, he brushed back his black hair, and calmed himself.
He followed after them, Thomas’s shadow trembling slightly as he walked.
On the surface above that underground corridor, a large circular building stood magnificently, not far from the human palace.
People passed by around the building before entering it.
Not only humans entered the building or passed by around it, but there were also people from other races, standing in front of their respective cameras with their backs to the building, broadcasting the trial to their own territories.
Right in front of that building, Alex and Aril stood staring at the grandeur of the building before them, their hair occasionally swaying because of the cold wind.
They stood silent in the middle of the crowd.
Alex swallowed hard, he whispered slightly to Aril.
"Wow...it’s pretty huge..."
Aril’s face turned strange, he looked at Alex.
"What, have you never been here or something? Back in elementary school, every school came here, didn’t they?"
Alex stroked his chin, he thought for a moment.
"Maybe I missed it back then..."
They talked for a while, before a young man came walking toward them.
"You guys took your time getting here, huh?"
Alex and Aril turned at the same time, there Ken approached them in his brown coat, his long black hair left loose.
Ken came to pick up Alex and Aril to bring them inside.
They began lining up at the entrance of the courthouse building to have their identities and entry permits checked.
Alex looked at the line in front of and behind him that had already become densely packed.
He patted Ken’s shoulder in front of him, covering his mouth as he whispered.
"Buddy, I don’t mean to ruin the mood..."
Ken nodded as he listened, and Alex continued.
"....but, is this really a trial? I mean this looks more like a concert."
Ken also looked around, he covered his mouth too and whispered while walking as the line moved closer.
"That’s true too..."
The two of them laughed among themselves, while Aril behind them watched with a strange look.
"You two are pretty close for people who once tried to kill each other?"
Alex and Ken looked up slightly at Aril, Alex draped an arm over Ken.
"Of course, buddy, you have to be close with someone who owes you their life."
Aril nodded in understanding at what Alex said, while Ken tried to shake off his arm.
They finally reached the end of the line, it wasn’t difficult for them to get through all the verification processes, because they had come with an invitation from Katarina herself.
They began entering the building, inside it felt warmer than outside, and they started walking around the circular building.
Alex kept looking here and there because he was fascinated by all the sophistication of the structure, above them a large transparent glass ceiling could be seen, showing a sky that only let through a little sunlight.
People moved like a massive current, searching for their respective entrances.
Ken brought Alex to one special entrance, there a corridor could be seen, and fewer people entered through the same route as them.
The three of them began walking through the corridor, and even from there the noisy sounds could already be heard clearly. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Alex’s steps stopped the moment he reached the end of the corridor, the spotlight was blindingly bright in the enormous room, the hairs on Alex’s neck stood up as he looked around.
The seats were divided into two sections, Alex was now in a row of seats shaped like a huge semicircle, the seats descended downward like a stadium stand, and below there were seats closer to the center, divided into left and right with a path splitting through them toward the trial arena.
The noise sounded louder, their conversations about the trial felt like giant whispers, Alex swallowed hard.
’So it really is like a concert, damn...’
Krystal, hearing what Alex said in his mind, agreed too.
’Like watching football in the old world, right?’
Alex nodded and fell silent for a moment, his gaze fixed on the trial arena, there two large tables faced each other, and at one of them someone was already seated, and in the middle stood the largest table, the highest place with two chairs visible there.
A screen could be seen in each stand, for those who wanted a clearer view.
Alex’s shoulder was tapped by Ken, he pointed downward to where Katarina was.
Alex followed Ken’s direction, there Katarina sat in the very front row together with Julian, Eve, Arthur, Reva, and the principal along with people Alex did not recognize.
Ken raised his voice slightly because of the noise in the trial hall.
"Come down! Katarina said we can sit there!"
Alex glanced at the seats below, the atmosphere there looked cold and serious.
Alex also raised his voice to answer Ken.
"I don’t want to go there! Can’t we just stay here?! It looks serious down there! I’m afraid I won’t be able to hold back my laughter!"
Ken looked at Alex with disgust.
"Who the hell laughs during a trial, idiot!"
Alex put an arm around Ken, Aril also listened in, the three of them looking like they were holding a small meeting.
"I want to sit in the stands! I don’t like it down there!"
Ken sighed in annoyance, he pressed his smart bracelet and contacted Katarina.
Katarina, who was below, turned toward the stand where Alex, Ken, and Aril were.
Alex smiled broadly, he waved his hand enthusiastically and pointed toward the stands.
Katarina, seeing that, nodded slightly, and the three of them finally sat in the very front row of the stands.
The sound of tens of thousands of people talking could be heard for a while, but a shout stopped it.
Down below near the path that split the audience seats, someone shouted.
"CLAY OVERMAS IS ENTERING THE COURTROOM!!"
The conversations of the spectators stopped, they immediately looked toward the path leading to the trial arena.
Alex leaned forward slightly to look, there four people were walking.
Russ led the way, with Clay walking in the middle wearing glass handcuffs, his steps followed by Thomas and Adan.
Clay, stripped of his white robe, became the center of attention, and jeers began to erupt around the stands and the seats below.
The insults from tens of thousands of spectators became like a curse of hatred.
"Murderer!!"
"Damn lackey of the Dark Side!!"
"Go die, bastard!!"
But Clay still held his head high proudly, he glanced toward Julian who was also staring at him, and he winked as a sign that he was fine.
Alex, seeing the atmosphere change so drastically, whispered to Ken and Aril.
"So those are the fathers of those important people’s kids?"
Ken nodded slightly while Aril remained silent, his eyes fixed on Clay Overmas.
Clay was brought to one of the facing tables, where he sat opposite a man in a black and red robe, the man adjusted the glasses he wore, he was the prosecutor who would represent all of humanity today.
The insults slowly died down, gradually the pressure in the air grew heavier, those who had been cursing Clay finally stopped and shifted their gaze toward the path Clay had walked through earlier.
There was no shout announcing who was entering, but from the pressure he gave off, everyone knew who it was.
Slowly the giant trial hall fell silent, people gradually began to rise from their seats.
Alex, who had not yet realized what was happening, was a little late to stand up.
Now all that could be heard was the sound of two people’s footsteps.
Walking there, down the path that split the audience seats below, were the king of humanity and the queen of humanity.
Their red cloaks trailed behind them, on the king’s head a jeweled golden crown covered his dark red hair, his blue eyes looked cold.
A white tiara also adorned the queen’s blond hair, her hand hooked into the king’s arm.
They walked side by side, and no sound could be heard except their footsteps.
Up in the stands, the hairs on Alex’s neck stood on end as he looked at the backs of the strongest humans.
’Their pressure is the same as Saint Azara...they’re the strongest figures I’ve ever met in either the old world or the new world...’
Krystal also agreed with Alex’s opinion.
The king and queen’s steps reached the large table facing the entire audience, Clay and the prosecutor lowered their heads slightly as the king and queen passed by.
They separated and climbed the high platform from two different sides, and once the two of them sat down, everyone followed without being ordered.
The king’s blue eyes glanced briefly at the audience, silence still lingered.
But his calm voice before tens of thousands of people became the beginning of humanity’s great trial.
The cameras in the stands began broadcasting the trial arena.
Everyone held their breath waiting for the king to speak.
"Let us begin the trial..."
The king folded his arms.
"....this trial is intended to provide the truest possible information regarding the major incident that occurred not long ago..."
The king extended his hand toward Clay who sat there in handcuffs.
"....an incident that caused losses to many parties, caused by the subordinates of the Overmas family."
The king’s voice echoed throughout the large courtroom.
"Clay Overmas will be given the opportunity to defend himself against all the charges prepared by the prosecutor..."
The king’s left hand extended to his left, where the prosecutor sat preparing himself.
"....for that, let us begin with the charges prepared by the prosecutor."
The bespectacled prosecutor gave a short nod, he adjusted his glasses and stood from his seat.
He walked to the center of the trial arena while facing Clay, everyone present watched him in silence, hoping to find justice for the disasters that had befallen them.
The prosecutor locked eyes with Clay, who still remained seated.
He raised his index finger.
"The first charge is suspected betrayal against humanity..."
The prosecutor continued by raising his middle finger.
"....the second is involvement with the Dark Side organization..."
The giant courtroom that had been silent began to fill with whispers.
The prosecutor raised his ring finger.
"The third charge is negligence in controlling his own subordinates, including the recent incident involving the restaurant owner and his employees who died after being visited by his subordinates..."
The whispers grew louder, but the prosecutor spoke more loudly and raised his pinky finger.
"The fourth charge is the damage caused by his subordinates, both material and non-material..."
Clay listened casually, he simply leaned his back against the chair and scratched his short blond hair.
The prosecutor’s eyes behind his glasses narrowed seeing Clay act like that.
He raised his thumb for the final charge.
"And lastly is the suspicion of plotting to overthrow the king..."
The audience who heard that immediately began whispering, their murmurs reaching the trial arena.
"Overthrow the king? Is that even possible?"
"Why would he include something like that..."
Katarina massaged her forehead the moment she heard the last charge the prosecutor had brought.
Meanwhile the king and queen remained silent without expression.
The prosecutor turned around, this time looking at the king, his black and red robe swaying.
He lowered his head slightly.
"That is all, Your Majesty..."
The king nodded, he looked at Clay.
"Do you admit the accusations made against you or not?"
The giant courtroom became silent again to hear Clay’s response.
Clay was silent for a moment, he covered his face, a faint smile formed on his face and slowly laughter came from him, his laughter growing louder and making the audience even more furious.
Insults upon insults were hurled at him again, but Clay did not stop laughing, he wiped away tears that had accidentally come out.
The prosecutor gritted his teeth, feeling as though he was being mocked.
The atmosphere in the courtroom grew more chaotic, the king raised his hand to calm the chaos.
He looked at Clay with a cold stare.
Clay nodded, he let out a long breath and looked at the prosecutor who was still standing.
"Do those charges of yours make any sense? Overthrowing the king? That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard..."
The prosecutor clenched his fists, while Clay stood up.
He looked at the entire audience present.
"That fifth one is obviously stupid! There’s no way I’d do that..."
He shrugged.
"As for the others, I don’t know..."
Shouts of hatred echoed throughout the courtroom again.
Julian held his head, which ached after hearing what his father said.
Clay took a deep breath, and this time he shouted.
"What I mean is!...."
Slowly the insults died down to hear what Clay had to say.
"....I admit that I was negligent in controlling my subordinates."
The courtroom became chaotic after the statement Clay made, even in the stands the insults echoed louder.
Alex, sitting among them, stroked his chin.
"Julian’s father is really very different from his son, huh?..."
Ken nodded in agreement, while Aril only clenched his fists, the veins on his forehead bulging as he looked at Clay acting like that.
The king once again calmed the voices of the audience that had begun to grow wilder.
He once again gave the prosecutor a chance to speak once the atmosphere returned to order.
"Clay has given his response...you may continue with what you have..."
The prosecutor nodded while Clay sat back down in his seat.
The prosecutor faced all the people present, his voice echoing throughout the trial area.
"As we all know...all the accusations directed at Clay Overmas began with his subordinates attacking our cities...."
Everyone present nodded in agreement with the prosecutor.
The prosecutor continued while pointing at Clay.
" ...what made it even worse was that the Overmas subordinates attacked the cities side by side with the Dark Side...."
The prosecutor paused for a moment, his gaze sweeping over everyone present in the giant courtroom.
"....as a result, destruction and losses occurred in the cities they attacked...thousands of people lost their homes and loved ones...."
The prosecutor kept going on about all of that, making the blood of those present boil.
Even Tony Adams, who sat beside Katarina, pinched the bridge of his nose listening to the prosecutor speak.
Clay clicked his tongue, he spoke to cut off the prosecutor, who sounded more like he was giving a speech.
Everyone shifted their gaze toward Clay, who still sat in his chair.
"Hey hey just explain the point, you talk too much, damn..."
The prosecutor’s brow twitched, people once again insulted Clay because of his bad behavior.
The prosecutor looked at him.
"So were you the one who ordered them?"
Clay shrugged, he wagged his index finger left and right.
"I didn’t order them, they went on their own without my approval..."
Clay slowly stood up, he walked closer to the prosecutor and faced the people present.
His voice sounded louder than the prosecutor’s.
"Besides! You’ve all heard the news, right?! The owner of the restaurant where my subordinates ate was also killed along with his employees..."
The prosecutor glanced toward Clay, while whispers could be heard in response to Clay’s statement.
"....it does sound like me or my side trying to cover things up..."
Clay paused for a moment, he raised his finger, his glass handcuffs visible.
"...but that can also prove I was framed, right?"
The whispers grew louder, Katarina seeing that began whispering to the principal beside her.
"It looks like you’ll be taking the stage soon, old man..."
The principal chuckled, cracking his knuckles.
The prosecutor, seeing public opinion beginning to split, started shouting again.
"The results of the investigation show that the Overmas family’s subordinates cannot be spoken to properly, they only stay silent. That too can be concluded as one of Clay Overmas’s cunning tactics..."
Clay chuckled, he leaned closer to the prosecutor and whispered to him.
"You’re really good at making things up, huh? You already know why they’re like that too, don’t you?"
The prosecutor’s brow twitched, he whispered back to Clay.
"I’m only defending the people you’ve harmed..."
Clay nodded in understanding, he took a deep breath and spoke again.
His voice reached the entire audience.
"They all cannot communicate properly because they are under the control of demon energy!"
Clay’s statement made the audience explode with even more commotion, not because of his rude words like before, but because his statement was considered utterly absurd by them.
The king and queen who witnessed it could only whisper to each other.
The queen spoke first.
"Is this really alright?"
The king glanced at his queen, he nodded slowly.
"It is the truth, isn’t it? The public also has to know about it..."
The queen nodded, while people were still in an uproar over Clay’s statement.
"Demon energy can affect people who have mana?"
"He wouldn’t possibly lie in front of the king and the public, right?"
"If that’s true then the Overmas family was really framed..."
Clay smiled faintly as he saw public opinion slowly beginning to doubt all the accusations against him.
He spoke again, to everyone.
"For that!..."
Everyone began listening to what Clay was about to say.
Clay turned away from the audience and faced the king and queen.
"...if Your Majesties the king and queen permit it, I would like to call Tony Adams as my witness."
The prosecutor was slightly surprised, he spoke to the king because he objected, but the king granted Clay Overmas’s request.
The two of them finally returned to their respective seats.
Meanwhile the king looked at Tony Adams who sat beside Katarina.
"Tony Adams, if you are willing to become a witness for Clay Overmas, you may come to the trial arena."
Tony Adams glanced at Katarina, and so did Katarina, they nodded at the same time.
The king, seeing that, was slightly surprised, he did not know what would happen next.
Tony Adams, whose name had been called, stood up.
His voice reached everyone present.
"I, Tony Adams, will become a witness for Clay Overmas and will tell the absolute truth..."
Tony Adams slowly walked before the king, he turned around and looked at the people present, who were filled with curiosity.
Meanwhile in the stands, Alex and Ken bit their fingers.
Ken spoke, though his voice was restrained.
"Will Katarina succeed?"
Alex answered nervously.
"How should I know, idiot...I’ll demand compensation if this fails..."
Aril and Ken looked at Alex sitting between them.
Alex shrugged.
"You both know, I already gave my life for this..."
Ken nodded in agreement, while Aril asked Alex.
"What exactly are you two talking about?"
Alex pointed at Tony Adams with his chin.
"Just watch, buddy, because this performance was paid for with my life."
Aril was still confused by what Alex meant, but he looked toward the trial arena where Tony Adams stood.
Tony Adams fell silent for a moment to steady his breathing.
"When the attack happened in the city of Osteria Academy...my best friend, Teresa. She was the first to face one of the Overmas family’s subordinates, Ophi..."
Everyone slowly remembered again the news about Teresa’s death.
"....she fought until the end to deliver that information...,"
Tony Adams swallowed hard, he gave a pause before the statement he was about to make.
"...and I have confirmed it myself, the smell of demon energy was indeed on them."
An uproar immediately broke out the moment Tony Adams made his statement, his figure already long known as a legend and mentor of the human king giving public trust to what he said.
But Tony Adams did not stop there, he would not give proof based only on his own words.
He smiled slightly, his voice once again echoed through the courtroom, and everyone turned their attention back to him.
"However! Even in the midst of a new threat, a new hope has also appeared."
Everyone looked at Tony Adams with confused expressions, and Tony Adams continued.
He glanced slightly at Katarina, and the king and queen noticed the small movement.
"Someone I know managed to create a potion to cure demon energy..."
The courtroom, which had been noisy just moments ago, now became silent, everyone only sat in stunned silence hearing of something that had long been a problem for them.
Adan and Russ, who sat side by side, slowly stood and shouted at Tony Adams in the silence.
"Are you sure, old man?!"
"You’re not making up another big claim again, are you?!"
Tony Adams chuckled hearing Adan and Russ’s questions.
Meanwhile Thomas, who sat beside them, could only grip his knees tightly, his eyes never leaving Tony Adams.
After a few moments, a man in a black mask brought someone with their head lowered and expressionless into the center of the trial arena.
The people present gradually began whispering.
"That’s Ophi, right?..."
"Does Tony Adams really have the potion?..."
The masked man finally reached Tony Adams while bringing Ophi, whose hands were restrained by glass handcuffs.
Clay stroked his chin seeing that, he had not expected to see things go this far.
Tony Adams looked at the black-masked man.
"Thank you, Black."
Black only gave a short nod and immediately left.
Tony Adams looked at Ophi, whose condition was unkempt, her gaze still empty.
He grabbed the back of Ophi’s neck and forced her to kneel.
Everyone watched Tony Adams, even the cameras kept focusing on him, because what they were witnessing now was history—the first time a potion capable of curing someone infected by demon energy had appeared.
Every race was paying attention, but the most tense among them was Thomas, whose gaze never left the scene.
Tony Adams grabbed Ophi’s orange hair.
"Sorry for being a little rough, Ophi...but seeing you again reminds me of Teresa."
Tony Adams took out a small glass bottle from his smart bracelet, inside it was a blue liquid.
Everyone held their breath watching it, even the king and queen did not want to miss a single moment.
Tony Adams opened the cap, he pressed Ophi’s cheeks and poured the blue liquid into her mouth.
Ophi’s eyes trembled as the liquid entered her mouth, slowly her body began to tremble as well.
Tony Adams remembered the next step Katarina had told him, he shouted to everyone.
"Once the liquid has gone in...."
Tony Adams raised his thumb high.
"Channel a little mana into your thumb! And press it against the forehead..."
Everyone slowly rose from their seats as Tony Adams pressed his thumb, infused with a little mana, against Ophi’s forehead.
Slowly a black mist emerged from Ophi’s forehead, the people witnessing it were shocked, some held their heads in disbelief at what they were seeing.
The black mist grew thicker, Tony Adams removed his thumb from her forehead, and gradually the black mist rose high toward the ceiling.
The black mist kept coming out for some time, until finally it stopped coming out of Ophi’s body.
Ophi immediately fainted after that, while the queen directed her hand toward the black mist up in the air and glass slowly formed out of nothingness, imprisoning that black mist.
Everyone fell silent for a moment, but after that cheers erupted throughout the entire courtroom, their cheers echoed all the way outside the building.
Tony Adams smiled seeing that, he was slightly reminded of Teresa, and tears almost came out of his eyes.
The king and queen, seeing that, looked at each other.
The king spoke first.
"Did you see it? I think I know who created that potion..."
The queen chuckled, she smiled broadly.
"So that’s why she needed that cursed flower..."
The queen tried not to make herself look too happy, she looked at Katarina who was seated among the audience.
Meanwhile Katarina glanced slightly toward someone. There Thomas sat stiffly, staring at the miracle before his eyes, while Adan and Russ tried to snap him out of it, they remembered Thomas’s wife who had long been infected by demon energy.
But Thomas remained silent, his golden eyes trembling.
Katarina clicked her tongue, she spoke in her heart.
’If only you had trusted your child more instead of joining the source of your problems....’
The cheers still continued, in the stands Alex and Ken wrapped their arms around each other and jumped together.
Alex shouted amidst the roaring cheers, but no one paid him any attention.
"I did it! I’m the one who got the materials!"
Ken burst out laughing and echoed Alex’s words.
Meanwhile Aril, standing near them, could only reflect on everything he had just seen, indirectly the Overmas family really had been framed by someone else.
Clay, who had been seated, slowly stood up, he approached Tony Adams to thank him, but Tony Adams grabbed him by the throat and advised him to become a better person.
Clay knelt down and held Ophi’s still unconscious body, a breath escaped from him, and he called for the staff to carry Ophi to the treatment room.
The king, feeling that he had to continue, raised his hand again, and slowly everyone fell silent once more.
The cameras that had been recording now began focusing on the king, with the appearance of the inventor of the potion to counter demon energy from the human race, it was clear that this would become a global topic.
The king spoke to all the people present.
"We should be grateful for the discovery of that potion...but we will still continue this trial..."
The king tapped his finger on the large table.
"...even so, at the very least, Clay Overmas was not the mastermind behind the attacks carried out by his subordinates..."
"...the black mist that came out of Ophi’s body is enough to confirm that they were being controlled by demon energy."
Everyone listened in silence to what the king was saying.
"And now...we will explain what is most likely the origin of all the calamities we have experienced..."
Clay, hearing that, chuckled, he looked at the prosecutor, pulled down the skin under one eye and stuck out his tongue, the prosecutor seeing that could only sigh and restrain himself.
The queen slowly raised her hand and snapped her fingers.
Slowly in the air, a cube-shaped glass object appeared.
That glass became the seal of something inside it, and inside that glass cube, a purple crystal the size of a human head could be seen, and inside that crystal was a fragment of a spine.
The presence of that object in the air diverted everyone’s attention, including Alex in the stands.
Alex listened to what the king said next.
"What you are seeing is the artifact that is most likely at the center of everything we have experienced...that artifact is called the Bone of Malakar."
Alex, who was looking at the Bone of Malakar, tilted his head slightly.
He had heard that name before and there was no way he could forget it.
Someone had once told him that the Bone of Malakar had already been stolen before, the first incident Alex experienced in this new world he lived in.
Alex swallowed hard, while Krystal spoke inside his mind.
But Alex ignored her for now, he rose from his seat and slowly looked downward, his black eyes fixed on someone.
There, that person was also looking at him, making Alex’s black eyes tremble.
Alex and Katarina only stared at each other from afar.
Alex’s body trembled slightly, his expression changed into disbelief.
A whisper escaped Alex’s lips.
"So she lied...."
