I Was Transmigrated As An Extraordinary Extra-Chapter 303
I didn’t know how many days we’d been drifting at sea. Time kind of blurred together when your daily routine consisted of don’t fall off, don’t get eaten, and please let today be normal. Strangely enough, voyaging like this felt... calm.
Probably because Kairos was with me now.
For the first time since entering this nightmare, I had someone to talk to—an actual human being who could respond, argue back, and confirm that yes, I was indeed not hallucinating everything out of loneliness. We let the wind carry the raft wherever it pleased, like two extremely underqualified explorers pretending we had a plan.
I could finally fish properly without something stealing my food mid-bite, and Kairos could focus on training his magic without worrying that I’d accidentally attract a sea god by sneezing too loud.
Life was good.
Dangerously good.
After about six hours, Kairos stopped training and decided to cook dinner. I watched him work with the calm admiration of someone who had already emotionally accepted him as the designated camp cook.
I was still basking in this rare moment of peace when—
WHOOSH!
A massive waterspout erupted from the sea not far from us, shooting straight into the sky like the ocean had suddenly decided to flex.
"...Ah," I said flatly. "There it is."
At that exact moment, a huge flying fish launched itself out of the water, glittering ominously as it hovered midair.
The system popped up, smug as ever.
[New monster detected!]
————————————
Name: MystiCarp
Difficulty: Elite grade 4
Description: Has shimmering, iridescent scales that glow softly in the dark depths of the sea. Its long, flowing fins resemble wisps of water and move gracefully as it swims. It also possesses razor-sharp teeth for easy tearing of prey.
Weak spot: ???
————————————
I ignored it and looked at Kairos instead. Why would I fight it when Kairos is here?
I glanced at the screen for half a second.
Then I ignored it completely.
Instead, I turned my head slowly and looked at Kairos.
’Why would I fight it when he was here?’
"Boss," I said sweetly, tapping his shoulder.
He looked up from cutting the fish, knife still in hand. "Yes?"
I gestured behind him with my thumb.
"There’s... a sparkly murder fish."
He paused.
The MystiCarp let out a dramatic screech as it circled above us, its glowing scales reflecting off the water.
Kairos followed my gaze, took one look, and sighed.
"...Of course there is."
The fish dove.
I immediately crouched behind him.
"Just to be clear," I said quickly, "this is your turn. I fought the last three monsters."
"You fought a worm, bribed a sea monster with leftovers, and ran from most of the rest," he replied calmly.
"I call that strategy."
The MystiCarp swooped lower, its razor-sharp teeth glinting as it opened its mouth wide enough to swallow half our raft.
Kairos stepped forward, magic gathering around him.
"Don’t let it hit the raft," I said. "I just fixed it."
"I’ll try."
"Try harder."
The fish lunged.
Kairos raised his hand, magic flaring—and at the same time, I panicked and threw a fish at it.
The MystiCarp paused midair.
It stared at the fish.
Then at me.
"...Did you just offer it dinner?" Kairos asked.
"I don’t know what works anymore!"
The fish snapped at the offering, giving Kairos the opening he needed. A blast of magic slammed into the MystiCarp, sending it spiraling back into the sea with an offended screech and a dramatic splash.
Silence followed.
The waterspout vanished like it had never existed.
I slowly peeked out from behind Kairos.
"...Is it gone?"
Kairos watched the water for a moment, then nodded. "For now."
I exhaled in relief and immediately clapped him on the back. "See? Teamwork."
He glanced at the fish still lying on the cutting board. "...You threw dinner."
"I saved us from dying."
"You threw dinner."
"I will fish again."
He shook his head, but I caught the faintest smile.
I sat back down, staring at the horizon.

Last Day of the Second Stage
[This stage will end in 10 minutes]
[I’m surprised you managed to survive 15 days]
I rolled my eyes at the floating screen. What can I say? I’m lucky.
[Lucky to obtain a free 3-in-1 servant, guard, and cook]
"...He’s not free," I muttered. "I need to catch food to feed him."
The system, naturally, said nothing. Coward.
I turned my gaze toward Kairos.
He was sitting cross-legged near the edge of the raft, eyes closed, back straight, completely immersed in meditation like this was some peaceful retreat instead of a death game surrounded by sea monsters with anger issues. The wind tugged at his hair, mana subtly rippling around him in steady, controlled waves. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
"Hey," I said, quietly this time. "We’re about to get kicked out."
He didn’t open his eyes. "I know."
Of course he did.
"You nervous?" I asked.
"No."
Figures.
I hummed to myself, then frowned. "You realize once this ends, we might not land in the same place, right?"
That made him open his eyes.
He looked at me, calm as ever. "Then we’ll meet again."
I stared at him for a moment.
"...You say that way too confidently for someone trapped in the same nightmare as me."
He smiled faintly. "Confidence is useful for survival."
The system chimed again, clearly offended it was being ignored.
[Five minutes remaining]
I sighed and stood up, stretching. My body felt stronger than when I had entered this level—sharper, lighter, more... alive.
"Hey," I said, offering my hand. "If we end up separated, don’t die."
Kairos looked at my hand, then took it, pulling himself up smoothly. "You should follow your own advice."
"I intend to," I grinned. "I’m annoyingly hard to kill."
[One minute remaining]
The air began to shimmer.
The sea stilled completely.
I glanced at the system one last time. "For the record, this stage sucked."
[...Feedback noted]
Liar.
Light flooded my vision, the raft dissolving beneath my feet.
As the world began to fade, I caught one last glimpse of Kairos standing beside me.

When I opened my eyes again, I’m back in my room, laying on the cold bare ground.
[Player UnluckyExtra obtained 2500 experience points]
[You are currently ranked first out of 99 players who cleared the hardest stage]
[Since you ranked first place, you’ll be given a reward of 1000 Gateway Points]
"...First?" I echoed, blinking.
I pushed myself upright, rubbing my face. "Wow. Guess all that suffering really paid off."
I tilted my head at the mention of Gateway Points. No explanation, no tutorial, no ’click here to learn more’. Typical. I shrugged it off. If the system bothered giving them to me, I’d probably need them later—when things inevitably went wrong.
Which they always did.
The next thing I checked was my reward.
A floating treasure chest materialized in front of me. I reached out and clicked it.
Pop!
Three totems appeared in my hands, their surfaces etched with glowing runes that pulsed softly.
Skill Upgrade
Item Upgrade
Random Upgrade
Oh.
Ohhh.
My lips curved into a slow grin. "Now we’re talking."
[All totems must be used within 12 hours. After that, unused totems will vanish.]
"Wow, okay. No pressure or anything," I muttered.
I looked down at the totems, weighing them in my palms. The Random Upgrade practically screamed regret, so I set that aside immediately. The Item Upgrade could wait. Skills, though? Skills were survival.
"How do I use it?" I asked.
[Just crush it.]
"...Of course."
I didn’t hesitate. I crushed the Skill Upgrade totem.
It shattered into motes of light that swirled around me before the familiar blue screen appeared.
[Would you like to upgrade the skill ’Jester’s Mask’?]
I didn’t even blink. "Yes."
[Choose an enhancement path:]
[Cooldown Reduction or Usage Increase]
I leaned back against my headboard, arms crossed.
Cooldown meant I could use it more often—safer, reliable, practical.
Usage increase meant more charges.
A slow smile crept onto my face. "...Usage increase," I said, watching as the icon of Jester’s Mask pulsed in my inventory.
The mask shimmered, the bells on its edges jingling faintly—even though it was inside my inventory and absolutely should not have sound effects. A small line of text appeared beneath it.
[Jester’s Mask – Charges Increased]
Next was the Item Upgrade.
I crushed the totem with significantly more confidence than the first.
[Select which item you want to be upgraded.]
I opened my inventory, scanning through my collection of questionable life choices: half-broken tools, monster drops I still didn’t know how to use, monster fur, and one suspicious rock I definitely picked up while panicking.
My gaze landed on it.
Tigara’s Fang, forged into a dagger during a moment of desperation and questionable craftsmanship.
"Yeah," I nodded to myself. "You’ve carried me through emotional and physical trauma. You deserve this."
I selected it.
[The item ’Tigara’s Dagger’ will be leveled up.]
[Attack level increased.]
The dagger burst into a sharp crimson glow. I instinctively flinched, half-expecting it to explode, curse me, or grow teeth.
Instead, the blade refined itself. The once-rough handle smoothed out, reinforcing into something solid and balanced. Deep claw-like grooves etched themselves into the grip, unmistakably resembling Tigara’s own talons.
I picked it up, testing the weight.
"Oh wow," I whispered. "You went from ’emergency shank’ to ’named weapon.’"
The dagger hummed faintly.
