I Will Create a Good Ending for the Yandere Villainess-Chapter 48: Catacomb Dweller? (edited)
The insect’s screech rang out as it swiped its arm. Its hooked appendages, acting as its fingers, dragged behind.
Its arm then suddenly came to a stop, bouncing off the strike that Lillian made on its arm, chipping into its thin but surprisingly durable carapace. Lillian’s eyes furrowed as she saw this.
She pulled back her rapier as it seemed to shimmer and tremble at the presence of violence—a ghostly sound resounding quietly from it. Inaubable to the ears.
With her arm pulled back, she thrusted the tip of her blade forth, slamming it into the chest of the insect, which only seemed to leave a shallow cut on its flexible armour.
With her stab, the insect stumbled back, looking over and caressing the damage to its carapace before staring back at Lillian, who continued to hold the charred lantern that dangled in her hands.
The flame within continued to burn brightly, eating away at the encroaching darkness surrounding them.
Lillian slowly began to circle the insect, watching as it covered its eyes again—severely affected by the light.
"It’s kind of easy if you keep standing around."
Saying this, she created a bullet of water, shooting it at the insect and watching it put it off balance, causing it to stumble about.
Lillian watched as it regained its balance and noticed the damage she had caused to its carapace around its shoulder.
She could trace out a slight dent in its armour.
She then stopped her circling, "So your carapace isn’t specifically weak to either blunt or slashing attacks. Good to know. But I suppose using Sonata of Revenge would be the best option."
She said, glancing down at her blade, which continued to emit the tunes of fallen piano keys.
She then raised her eyes back to the insect to find it had disappeared.
Startled, she raised her lantern around her, unveiling the darkness and finally spotting the insect that was making a mad dash towards her. (2)
She raised the songful rapier before her, slashing at its hard body.
Her rapier fell on its shoulder, chipping into it and rebounding with a clang!
Lillian scowled, ’Its body is as trouble as those damn crabs!’ (2)
The insect slammed into her body, sending her to the ground before running back into the darkness.
Lillian rolled against the ground, still keeping a tight hold on her weapon.
Raising her lantern once more, she watched as the flame within it lit up the darkness, revealing the insect charging at her again.

"So that’s your strategy..." Lillian muttered under her breath, still crouched.
With a lean of her body forward, she pushed herself off the ground, sprinting at it.
The chains of her lantern rattled as they approached the insect.
The blade of her songful rapier was still quietly singing, although this time slightly louder.
The two quickly neared each other. The insect raised its slim, hairy arms towards Lillian.
Its hooked appendages twitching in anticipation of her approach.
The insect sharply brought its arms around, intending to crush her in its embrace.
Lillian ducked down, raising the tip of the songful rapier towards the gaps between its segmented carapace.
Lillian stabbed, her blade sinking into its body, causing it to bleed red.
She felt the insect’s body stiffen momentarily, hearing it screech.
She raised her eyes towards it, watching as it brought down its hooked appendages and latching through her clothes and onto her skin.
Lillian gritted her teeth, narrowing her eyes as the feeling of ants biting her skin appeared. (2)
With a strong twist of her body, her blade sliced through its flesh, bisecting it in half.
Blood leaked from its fatal wound, splashing against the ground.
And yet...
Lillian stared at the upper body of the insect that stared at her deeply. Its mandibles still twitched, and a deafening screech resounded from the mouth behind it.
"You tenacious insect!" (8)
Just as it was about to snap its keratin mandibles around Lillian’s neck, she tilted her head far to the side, dodging a narrow, blood-stained blade. (3)
The ghostly tunes of her rapier calmly resounded through the head of the insect.
Lillian breathed a sigh, pulling out her rapier from behind its head, slicing through parts of its face, and watching it dangle from her shoulder. (2)
The hooks that latched on her shoulders then slowly ripped out of her skin, tearing through her clothes a bit.
"Ow..." Lillian murmured, staring down at the bisected insect. (2)
As she continued to stare down at the insect, the familiar voice of the Jester resounded inside her ears.
[You have slain a Savage Wretch, Catacomb Dweller]
’Catacomb Dweller...’ She then stared down at her clothes and grimaced at the blood stains on them. (2)
She sighed, "Great... but to think I faced against a Savage." She then tilted her head to the side, "I thought it’d be stronger." (5)
Savage monsters are just monsters in Rank D. People just preferred the ranking system they made instead of the Jester’s because it’s easier to remember.
A Wretch is a classification of monsters that have formed the first shell of their core, like her, who still has one.
"How do I clean the blood off this thing?" Lillian stared at her blade, watching as the Catacomb Dweller’s blood dripped down it.
She swiped her sword to the side, trying to copy the way swordsmen would clean it. Fortunately, it worked. (3)
"Well then, let’s carry on, shall we?" She asked herself, "I got to find Marionette fast... I’d rather not be alone in such a dark and creepy place like this."
After saying that, she continued to walk through the eerie catacombs, holding her lantern out. She would rather not have the same situation again with the Catacomb Dweller.
"To think it was just staring at me..." She shivered. (2)
After walking for a while, she began to get annoyed... and worried. Soon enough, the light that came from her lantern stopped spreading out and instead lit up a stone wall.
"I reached a wall?" Lillian tilted her head, placed her hand on it, and watched as she reached a corner of it that, on the other side, led to a faint light. (3)
She pushed out her lantern from behind the wall and peered around it. Her eyes widened at what she saw.
"Huh? Is that a tree?"
