Chapter 182: Winhest’s Intentions Revealed

Arc 3, Chapter 182—Winhest’s Intentions Revealed

.

.

"From here on out, you will be separated into 2 main groups."

Winhest’s ominous words left a sour aftertaste in their minds, yet no one offered any protests.

Many also brainstormed on what Winhest was up to, but had no clues. All they could do was watch his paper shard multiply and multiply into paper sheets of 2 primary colors: Purple and Pink.

Levon looked at the Pink sheet that softly swayed to his palm. Yes, he got pink. His group, as well as all members of the other group sharing a cabin with them, also got pink.

Looking into the distance, he noticed Hendrix’s team also got pink sheets.

’Winhest said we’ll be divided into 2 teams... One team will be purple, and the other is pink...’ Levon frowned.

Will both teams compete against each other or something? Was it another battle against ghouls? So could he have been wrong earlier?

... Can it be that the 4 day trip they had was Truly NOT the Phase 2 competitions but just an appetizer of what is to come?

It would be a lie to say that Levon was shocked. In fact, it wasn’t just him but several others like Florianna, Hendrix and Batista, who felt it all incredulous.

So what was all that they did earlier? A warm up?

The paper sheets were divided up between pink and purple. Then everyone watched Winhest place one palm over his eyes, playing the eenie-meenie-miny-moe game. And when he was done—

"Pink to the left, and Purple, to the right." The instructions were given, and everyone jumped off their cabin roofs.

Levon found himself away from the trains alongside a mix of several other strong and weak Bloodrens. When the division was done, Winhest clasped his palms together, causing a loud sonic vibration to spread out.

"My, my, my~..." He began. "It’s amazing that some of you still have the guts to accept my congratulatory announcement,as if you’ve passed the Phase 2 examinations."

"That being said, I must say... congratulations PINK you’ve all made it through."

"As for Purple, If I were you, I’d head into the old train and await your departure...Why?... Because you lose!"

"That’s right? Each and everyone of you, has FAILED the phase 2 examinations!!!!"

BOOM!

A menacing explosion went off in the minds of those with purple sheets.

NO! NO! They don’t agree!

How can they fail? Are you sure you’re not just saying that because you don’t like the colour purple?

Sorry, but they didnt buy what Winhest was saying?

THEY? Fail?... After a rigorous 4-day trip of fighting ghouls at every turn, you now tell them they’ve failed just like that?

Well, they’ve got one word for Winhest: IMPOSSIBLE!

If eyes could kill, Winhest would have long been dead by now.

Their hands couldn’t stop twitching, and their chests kept rising and falling the longer they stared at Winhest’s annoying face.

"NO WAY!" Someone finally blurted out a line that went well with their feelings. And before some everyone knew it, the entire place turned rowdy, as noisy as a marketplace.

"YOU LIE! Why would you say we’ve failed when we’ve obviously made it through?"

"That’s right! I want to protest! I think you just gave a problem with the color purple. Or else why would you do the eenie-meenie-miney-mo guessing game just now?"

"Hmph! I don’t believe I have lost after all the hard work it took me to get here."

The air was tense and saliva was spewing from all corners around the purple group. People of all groups, be them the Old Bloodrens or the new ones, all protested greatly.

The Old Bloodrens, especially those who just passed phase 1 after failing year(s) back, were now on the verge of collapse when told they will be sent to another place meant to keep in Phase 2 failures.

Wooooooo~

Their eyes were dry as the desert, but they wanted to cry.

It was just not FAIR!

Why them? Why was their case different?

If they let things be as Winhest proclaimed, then doesn’t that mean they’ll have to wait another year to take the phase 2 competitions?

Everyone knows that Bloodren 10s have a limited time to advance to Bloodren 9. Already, some people have spent 3 years held back from punishments and failures to go past the Phase 1 or 2 competitions. Some even got held back for 5 years.

The issue at hand was that even if they pass all phase competitions in the end, they need enough time in Bloodren 10 to advance to Bloodren 9.

Don’t get them wrong, some advance to Bloodren 9 in a year, but those are the talented ones. Some advance in 2 years, 3... 4... 5...6... and even 8 years.

They didn’t know much about advancement to Bloodren 9. However, the few bits and pieces they gathered over the years, insinuated that how fast you advance is determined by what strength level you reach, as well as points gained from completing missions.

But these 2 are just the primary factors. There are other factors one must accomplish to advance. And when one has hit all thresholds, they can apply for an advancement test.

Even if they fail the test, so long as their total time (in ears) isn’t up as a Bloodren 10, they can still take on the examinations after more self-improvement.

In the end, they didn’t know much about whether these matters were true or not, since they hadn’t bloody-well made it past Phase 2, right?

Even if they were scared of Winhest, when in a large group as they were, they felt the strength of numbers push their courage up the roof.

...

"I protest"

"That’s right? I bloody Protest!"

"Hey! If I go back to that train, then call me Smelly Balls!"

"Wipe! What sort of unfairness is the Organization letting? How come we are getting held back just because this guy hates the color purple?

"Yada-yada-yada~"

Soon, their protests only sounded like mumbles in Winhests ears. At this point, they might as well be talking gremlin language because it went in one of his ears and flew right out the other.

Well, didnt Winhest say it earlier? He was in a good Mood. If not, he would have long sealed their mouths in a grimly manner they will never forget.

It seems they have forgotten one thing: This was a world for the strong. The strong detect the rules and bend them how they deem fit.

What? You feel it’s unfair? Okay... but so what?... Since when do the opinions of roaches matter?

Winhest’s grin was doing that scary thing again, stretching so unnaturally that it caused the rowdiness to die down on its own.

Mommy...

The onlookers felt their chests grow tight. Why did they feel that this guy’s smile was holding a lot of bad things in?

"Are you all done now?" Winhest’s tone shot a prickling sensation up their spines. "You’re not convinced. I can see that. But what does that have to do with me?"

"Normally, I wouldn’t even bother talking more with waste like you. But since I’m in a one hell of a fine mood today, then I’ll let your dull brains think further on this:—Each cabin was assigned 2 groups to lodge in. Why is that?"

This...

Several people were still perplexed, seemingly slow in grasping the matter. But for Levon and several others on the Pink side, they understood this perfectly well.

It was funny, wasn’t it?

Fufufufufu~

The more Levon analyzed, the more his heart pulsated unnaturally. It wasn’t just him who felt this way, but Shugo, Artilla, and several special ones.

Hmph. Hendrix pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose coolly. Along the strip, he suspected it to be so.

Why do you think he went out of his way to protect the other group in his cabin?

Even when an Old Bloodren tried to take their tokens, he sent Payne Ignier to retrieve it all back.

’It seems the Purple morons do deserve their failure, if they couldn’t even see something so obvious as that... Pathetic.’

How can the order trust such people to handle missions and read inbetween the lines, if they can’t see this little trick?

Sorry, but they weren’t ready yet.

Batista smirked playfully while dangling his hands over the long baseball bat around his neck. "Hey! You’re delaying some of us here."

"Right from the start, each Cabin was paired strategically with one strong team and one weak team." He continued. "Have any of you shitheads bothered to think why it’s that way?"

It was clearly a trap.

The Phase 2 competitions were there to also test out how well their group will work with other groups.

Be it Hendrix, Batista, Florianna and several others, they didn’t like working with a weaker group.... But so what?

Hendrix smiled with disdain.

In such a dark place like Order, do you really expect to Pass so simply?

’Pathetic.’
