I Will Survive Till The End: Blood Extermination Academy-Chapter 31: The End Of The Line
Chapter 31: The End Of The Line
"Let’s go."
"Right!"
16 minutes was all they had, and they didn’t intend to waste it. They couldn’t afford to take any breaks.
Their feet was killing them, but they knew true death would come if they thought of such meaningless pain
"It’s so close!" Shugo exclaimed.
What a huge structure.
From where they ran, they got a good glimpse of the tower’s majesty.
16 minutes left...
In their final moments, they ran through a forest trail bombarded with Centipedes that were knee-height tall.
Goddammit!
They used 8 whole minutes of their precious time kicking, punching, dodging, and rushing towards the tower.
"Die, Bastards!"
"For Pete’s sake, who the hell has time for this? Let go of this chubby daddy now!"
"DIE!"
"DIE!"
"DIE!"
Shugo did all the cursing, desperation evident on his face.
Of course, rather than staying back and fighting, they did their best to dodge, evade and flee.
Who the hell has time to stay back and fight?
Soon, they reached the Tower.
FINALLY!
The trio felt like doing somersaults.
However, after finally approaching the tower, they suddenly discovered something bizarre.
"What’s going on?" Shugo frowned. "Are you guys seeing this?"
Levon squinted his eyes deeply.
He saw it too.
These centipedes that were as tall as dogs, don’t actually dare to go the first step up.
Instead, they shivered and fled as though running from a cursed place. This can only mean one thing.
’What a frightening tower.’
They say animals, beasts, and bugs alike, all have the ability to sense deadly predators and dangers.
So what was it about this tower that made these beasts flee for their lives?
"Something’s not right about this tower."
"Agreed." Shugo and Artilla nodded, looking at the soaring structure with even more scrutiny.
Well, it sure was a beaut.
They’ve seen such ancient and mythical architecture blended together.
Breathing heavily, they finally arrived at the 4-sided soaring tower sturdy vines hugging its majestic structure.
From afar, one would never imagine how wide it spread. It was even wider than the largest Pyramid in the outside world.
Its plentiful outer stony steps led up to an opening in the tower.
Each step was covered with thick vines running nesting motionlessly.
"Everyone, hold on."
After all they’ve witnessed, Levon was the first to pick up a few rocks and toss at it.
"...Nothing."
That’s great.
So far, so good.
.
.
GO!
The trio darted up the many flights of steps without haste.
’What was that?’
Levon threw their heads behind their shoulders, spotting another group fast approaching too.
Only, this group was foolish enough to stop and fight with those centipedes.
Well, maybe foolish wasn’t the word.
But what did it have to do with him?
Faster! Faster!
"We only have 4 minutes more!"
"No, perhaps even less."
"Dammit, where did the time go? And why so many steps?"
The trio ran relentlessly, soon diving into the massive temple’s opening.
"Safe!!" Shugo announced playfully. "Phew, now we can finally rest."
"Not Quite." Levon frowned.
Looking around the enormous temple space, he realized it was filled with all sorts of markings and symbols.
In addition, there was a bigger issue at hand.
"While I like to think we’re all extraordinary in our own way, I don’t believe we are the first to make it into the temple., with barely a few minutes left"
So the question was: Where the hell was everyone else?
"You’re right!" Shugo quickly got to his feet.
Artilla nodded. "We have just a little over 2 minutes left. There has to be a secret way into the gathering place where all winners will meet."
"Well, no time to dilly-dally. These symbols must be something." Shugo spoke, stretching and twisting his body, all fired up. "These are definitely Hieroglyphics... Damn, I wish I read more on archeology or something. If I did, I would have–"
"When 3 are gathered, the palm of their fates will meet."
Levon and Artilla interrupted Shugo, shocking him out of his boots.
WHAT?
"You two understand the scribbles and symbols?"
Levon and Artilla nodded.
The drawing for the small bird stands for the letter ’A’...
The 2 wavy lines are ’W’ and so on, and so forth. When put together, the symbols form words.
{When 3 are gathered, the palm of their fates will meet.}
"If I’m right, only 3 people can step through or activate the doorway at once... Look here. The arrow is pointing at 3 palms."
"Yeah. In other places, there are 2... 4... 5... 6... up to 12."
Suddenly, the trio froze.
It seems that there are many trap doors here that would activate depending on how many people are there.
Some need 12 people to activate it, and others need 6.
It seems the lowest number required was 3?
But now, the real question was how many 3-people trap doors are currently available.
"Time’s ticking guys!"
"Yeah. Quickly, we need to stand in position!"
Following Levon’s instructions, everyone stood opposite the drawings, placing their left palms into the palms of the drawings carved on the walls.
"Nothing, buddy. What does this mean? We’ve got less than 30 seconds give or take!"
Son of a FISH!
The air suddenly grew tense, as countless thoughts raced Levon’s mind.
At the same time, the group from before also made it to the top.
Thanks to the brief glance in their direction, Levon’s eyes finally caught sight of a hidden message in tiny carvings.
That’s it!
"A doorway can be used once, This one is probably full, so we have to use another!"
Come on! 11 seconds more.
.
.
Like so, Levon’s group moved like lightning.
However, the other group were happy they made it just on time.
"We did it!"
"We’ve made it!"
"Now, we can—"
WHAT?
Their faces all changed when they saw the other 3 vanish.
This... This...
’_’ [Everyone else]
So did this mean that they failed?
"What The hell was—"
BAM!
The thick Giant walls of stone slid down from the entrance’s inner walls, closing the Entryway shut!
Then, they saw a familiar figure appear on a projected screen.
It’s HIM!
Seeing their mortified looks, Roud chuckled menacingly.
[Well, now...little piglets. Unfortunately for you, your time has run out.]
It’s over... It’s over...
After all that... they, they... they still lost?
Fufufufufufu~
Roud’s laughter echoed across the sealed space, cementing their fate even more.
[That’s it, Little Piglets... I’m afraid, that this is the end of the line for you all.]
