I Would Rather Be a Rogue [BL]-Chapter 136: Tea and Cookies
Chapter 136: Tea and Cookies
After a little chat at home, Felix and Remi met up with Agnes in the witch’s house. In the same room that Remi used to receive Felix whenever the Omega came to meet ’the witch’, except that it looked a bit different now. Mainly because of the lighting - instead of dimmed candlelight, there were now magical glowing orbs floating by the ceiling. Purple smoke was also gone, causing the room to look somewhat empty. There was no other furniture besides the round table, the chairs, the cradle, and the empty candlestick holders, no decorations besides the white circle on the ground and the floating orbs, which shone brighter than the daylight outside... Which wasn’t hard, considering that the day was dark and cloudy, but still. It almost seemed like a completely different place.
Agnes was already waiting for them with tea and warm cookies ready on the table... If that could be called ’tea’ and ’cookies’, considering their... odd appearance and consistency. Felix could almost see skulls forming in the steam rising above them...
"Treat yourself," Agnes smiled, gesturing at the ’snacks’ on the table.
...Was she perhaps trying to kill them? Get rid of them, because they messed up with her curse? Remi might have said that she could be trusted, but...
"You can eat them if you want," Remi whispered to Felix, as he moved the chairs around the table to pull his and Felix’s closer together. "Their appearance might be beyond questionable, but they should be edible at the very least..."
His mother shot him a sharp look, before smiling at Felix again. "Don’t be shy, I baked them specially to commemorate our first meeting!"
Although Felix was still unconvinced, worrying that this first meeting would also be the last, as he would soon end up six feet under... With Agnes’ intent gaze on him, it would be rude to ignore her... Thus, he hesitantly picked one of the cookies from the dangerous-looking pile, trying to avoid it falling apart in his hands, and took a tiny little bite.
It... wasn’t anywhere as bad as he had expected it to be. The texture was weird - mushy and gooey, stretching like melted cheese, with hard bits hidden inside - but the taste was rather alright. Nothing special, a bit bland at first, but leaving a burning sensation on the tongue afterward... Overall, perhaps not something Felix would typically choose to eat, but perhaps he could get used to it.
As long as he didn’t drop dead because of them afterward, of course.
"Alright. Let’s get to it, shall we?" Remi started the conversation. "We have a lot to discuss."
"Right." Agnes nodded her head in agreement, sipping her tea, which looked just as suspicious as the cookies, if not more. "Then, first of all... Your partner." She focused her green eyes on Felix, who was sitting with his back straight, nibbling on the cookie, with the spiky witch hat still stuck deep on his head, hiding most of his face from view. "Is he from the Bloodmoon Pack?"
"No, he’s not."
"From one of their subordinate packs or something, then?"
Remi glanced over at Felix, unsure of the answer.
So, Felix reluctantly explained for himself, "My... former pack is from a different area, and we have no ties to the Bloodmoon Pack. And even if it did, I had already left it before meeting... your son, and have no intention of ever coming back."
"Oh? You left it? And why is that? As far as I know, werewolves are obsessed with their packs, clinging to them no matter what... Did you commit some sort of crime?" Agnes lifted her brows, looking at Felix with a hint of amusement.
As if wolves being chased away from their packs was something funny.
And to call them ’obsessed’ with their packs? They just thrived on team play and the attachment to community! It’s thanks to that that werewolves were the dominant race among the supernatural beings, while all the other shifter races were few in numbers, and spread thin!
Then again, she was a fox. Fox shifters didn’t live in packs, so it was only natural that she wouldn’t understand. Not to mention, now that he was out, Felix also thought that leaving a pack wasn’t as bad as he had always been told... He even felt foolish that he hadn’t run away earlier. Preferably before his eighteenth birthday, so that he wouldn’t have discovered his mate bond with Jared!
Although if he had, then Vivi wouldn’t have been born... Which made him feel a bit guilty to even think that way.
Regardless, it was all in the past, and couldn’t be changed no matter what, so there was no point in dwelling on it so much.
"He hasn’t," Remi shook his head, answering for Felix again. "He just..." he glanced at the Omega to confirm whether he was allowed to carry on, and when Felix gave him a light nod, he explained, "He just didn’t like his fated mate."
"Ah, their fated mate ridiculousness," Agnes rolled her eyes. She clearly didn’t think much about the werewolves’ obsession with fated mates...
Well, it seemed that she and Felix had something in common. Although he still worshiped the Moon Goddess, he truly hoped she would just leave him alone... He didn’t want any more fated bonds!
"He’s a rogue now, then?" she asked to confirm.
"Yes, I am," Felix nodded his head.
Technically he wasn’t, as he was still considered ’missing’... But that was him as ’Felix Embermane’. ’Lex Winterfell’, an Omega wolf living in Silverfall, was very much a rogue, and he thought of himself that way.
"Ah, alright. So you haven’t joined the Bloodmoon Pack?" Agnes continued.
"No."
"And do you intend to?"
"No, not at all," Felix shook his head energetically. "I like where I am now. I don’t want to get involved in any more pack conflicts."
"That’s good. But, if that’s the case... Then how did you get involved with their business in the first place? This town is hardly close to their territory..."
