Chapter 161: Forced Rejection

When Jared opened his eyes, the first thing he did was throw up.

Which would already be unpleasant enough on its own. But to make matters worse, what Jared threw up wasn’t the contents of his stomach or digestive juices, but rather some unidentified substance... It was black like pitch resin, thick and sticky, clinging to his throat and oral cavity. It didn’t have any smell, but the taste of it... Jared didn’t know how to even begin to describe it, but it was so disgusting, that his eyes teared up, and he couldn’t stop retching, so hard that he almost fainted again...

Felix stood a few feet away, staring at Jared spitting the black, viscous substance with a deadpan expression. There was a tarp spread underneath the chair Jared was tied to, to avoid any of the substance getting on the panels, or worse yet, staining the carpet! Remi might have promised to clean everything afterwards with a spell, but Felix still didn’t want to watch Jared throwing up on the floor in his house... It was already bad enough that they had to do this in his living room, but there was no other choice. If they went outside to the backyard, they might be spotted by the neighbors. And if they wanted to drag Jared away somewhere they wouldn’t be seen, for example the forest, they would have to waste more time...

And time was something they severely lacked. Which was something that couldn’t be fixed with a spell.

He waited patiently until the amount of black substance Jared was throwing up became less and less, before finally speaking up. freёwebnoѵel.com

"Let’s break our bond," he said, the tone of his voice freezing cold.

Jared lifted his gaze, his eyes blurry from the discomfort and pain. He could hardly make out Felix’s face through the tears...

But he still managed to shake his head.

Felix’s eyes widened. "You... still refuse?"

Now that was beyond incomprehensible. He knew that Jared had wanted him, even before he had turned eighteen and they had discovered they were fated mates. From his looks and his strength, to who his father was, Felix was a desirable mate. It was understandable that Jared was unwilling to let him go...

But to think he was so stubborn even when he was at Felix’s mercy? He had been knocked out twice, forced to tell the truth, then had his mouth controlled so that he had no choice but to repeat whatever Remi wanted him to say... And now, he was throwing up some unidentified substance. By now, he should have realized that Felix was no longer someone he could mess with.

So why was he still refusing to break the bond?

Did he not want his life anymore?

Did he hit his head?

Or did he get scared so much that he turned dumb?

Either way...

Felix nodded at Remi, giving him a sign to carry out what they had earlier discussed. If Jared was unwilling to reject him on his own...

Then they would simply force him to do so!

Purple smoke swirled in the air, invading Jared’s mouth. In an instant, the Alpha stopped retching, his whole mouth becoming numb. Only a little bit of the black substance kept on leaking through the corner of his mouth, trickling down his chin, and dripping onto his clothes. Not that it mattered - he had been tied up all this time, so most of the substance he had thrown up earlier had landed on him, staining his shirt until it turned black. And in his current circumstances, his dirty clothes were probably the last thing Jared was concerned about.

And Remi and Felix didn’t care either. Remi just whispered, forcing Jared to repeat,

"I, Jared Thorne, the leader of the Moonhill Pack, reject you, Felix Embermane, as my Luna and mate..."

The moment the words had left Jared’s mouth, Felix knew that something was wrong. He had already experienced what it felt like to break the bond before, so he knew exactly how it should feel... The moment his so-called mate rejected said the words, rejecting him, he should be in extreme pain, suffocating, almost unable to speak... Even if his bond with Kade had been stronger, and there had been a personal attachment... He should at least feel SOMETHING when Jared rejected him.

But there was nothing. Not a hint of pain. Or relief. Or anything.

Even his wolf was completely silent, unaffected by the rejection.

Which meant that it probably wasn’t working. The words might have come out of Jared’s mouth, but since he didn’t mean to say them, since he was controlled by a spell, it didn’t count...

Felix knew that it was pointless, but he still couldn’t help but try. "I accept your rejection," he said, putting his whole heart and soul into his words...

But it was no use. That damned bond was still there, connecting him and Jared. As strong as ever.

Since Jared didn’t reject Felix out of his own violation, the Moon Goddess did not approve it.

Too bad she wasn’t so considerate of the werewolves’ feelings and intentions when establishing the bond! Most wolves would likely find it abhorrent, but at this moment, Felix truly couldn’t help but resent this willful Goddess!

"Make him suffer more," Felix said coldly, his face turning dark. He didn’t believe that he wouldn’t be able to force that wretched Alpha to break their bond before they let him go back to the pack!

Remi did as asked, and a moment later, a pained cry escaped Jared’s mouth. His insides were all on fire now, burning and twisting violently... He gasped for breath, his eyes growing hazy. He thought that he was about to die...

But he could neither die nor even faint. Because the curse that had been placed on him was only made to make him suffer, not to cause any lasting physical damage. Most of the pain he had experienced was just in his head, enhanced by a spell...

Felix waited on the side, glancing impatiently at the clock, and taking breaks from time to time to ask Jared to reject him again and again...

However, an hour had passed, and the Alpha’s answer remained the same.
