I Would Rather Be a Rogue [BL]-Chapter 173: Farewell, For Now
Chapter 173: Farewell, For Now
As expected, Felix couldn’t sleep. He spent the whole night switching between lying with his eyes closed, and staring at the dark ceiling. Until eventually, before dawn, he couldn’t take it any longer. He got up...
And started packing his things.
After thinking it over carefully, he really couldn’t stay in Silverfall any longer.
He was just an unmated rogue Omega with a small child. Although he was not weak... He was not that strong either, all things considered. There were plenty of men (and women as well) in this world who were still stronger than him. Especially Alphas, who could gain an advantage over him with their pheromones...
And that was just talking about individuals. There was the Moonhill Pack that was after him, and also the Misty Claw Pack that might want to harm him because of his connection with Kade... Previously, he had been confident to face them all, because he had the witch by his side.
But now this witch had become his greatest danger. And while Felix wanted to think that Remi wouldn’t hurt him...
He couldn’t say that with full confidence.
Not after everything he had learned.
The fox had kept his curse and its connection to Felix’s bloodline a secret all this time. Was it just because he had been worried about how the Omega might react...
Or because he considered taking his life? Maybe not now, but sometime in the future. Once the curse got so bad that Felix’s blood would no longer be enough... He would stop playing nice, and end it once and for all.
Now, Felix didn’t think that Remi was necessarily raising him like a pig to slaughter. All that time they had spent together, it was hard to dismiss it as fake. There was no need for Remi to be so good to Felix, even going so far as to take him as his assistant and teach him potion brewing. Not to mention, after Felix had found out the truth, Remi could have cast a spell on him to alter his memory. Yes, there might be side effects... But if Felix was nothing more than a blood bank, then there wouldn’t be any problem if he were to become muddle-headed, right? Actually, that might have been even more convenient!
So, all things considered, at least part of Remi’s affection toward Felix should have been genuine...
But no matter how much he wanted to believe it, Felix couldn’t take his chances. Not when he had a little pup with him, who still depended on Felix’s care, and would need him in the years to come.
However, running away on his own wasn’t an option either. It was one thing when he was alone, but with Vivi, he couldn’t exactly wander around. Not to mention, once he left Silverfall, he might no longer be protected by the spell Remi had cast on Jared. The Alpha might be able to snatch him and drag him back to the Moonhill Pack then. And if not him, then there was still Wilder Embermane...
With that, Felix only had one option left. It wasn’t exactly safe either, but...
In his current circumstances, was there any option that could be considered safe? He couldn’t afford to be too picky.
Leaving his luggage alone for a moment, Felix went to grab his phone. He hesitated only for a moment longer, staring at his contact list, before he took a deep breath, and dialed the number.
"Hey, can you pick me up?" he asked, as soon as the call connected. "I’ve decided to leave Silverfall."

The sun had already long set, and the sky turned dark by the time Felix’s ride finally arrived. All the luggage was already packed, from his and Vivi’s clothes, through the stroller and the pram, to Felix’s pottery wheel. There were still some things left behind, such as Felix’s unfinished pottery projects, or household items which Felix didn’t take... But he already had too much luggage. If he wanted to take everything, they might not have any space in the car left.
It was almost hard to believe that when he came to the town just over a year ago, he only had a light backpack with him, and nothing else to his name.
He took one final glance at the inside of the house. He had gone through so many things here, some bad, but most alright... After putting so much effort into redecorating and improving the house, building a comfy and safe nest for himself, his heart ached at the thought of leaving.
Would he ever be able to come back here?
Perhaps not...
Just in case, though, he had paid the rent to the landlord two years in advance. From the money Remi had given him, the money that Kade had paid for undoing his father’s curse. It seemed like a bit of a waste, but...
A sound of knocking on the window of the car outside, snapping Felix out of his thoughts, and reminding him that it was time to leave. Vivi was already inside, strapped to her baby car seat that Felix had originally thought wouldn’t be of much use to him. The engine hummed softly, the lights of the car illuminating the tiny snowflakes dancing in the air...
Felix let out a sigh, and turned off the lights in the house, switching the power board off before locking the door. Then, as he stepped off the porch, he threw a glance in the direction of the witch’s house...
Ever since Remi had left the night before, he didn’t show up, Felix didn’t even catch a whiff of his scent, aside from the jasmine fragrance still hanging in the air in the house. He probably wanted to give Felix some space... But that was for the best. If he had actually showed up, Felix didn’t know if he’d still be able to bring himself to leave. Even though he had to.
There was a letter left for him on the table, so there was no need for a farewell anyway.
Felix got in the car, closing the door shut.
And a moment later, the car drove off, leaving the fox, the house, and the whole Silverfall behind.
