I Would Rather Be a Rogue [BL]-Chapter 177: The Best Option
Chapter 177: The Best Option
"My parents, that is the leader and the Luna of the pack, as well as my close confidants, already know the truth," Kade added, seeing Felix’s uneasy expression. "So we don’t need any detailed explanations, just an excuse to tell the rest of the pack... Of course, we can also choose to remain silent. Since I’m the heir to the pack, no one will dare to question me. However..."
Kade didn’t finish, but there was no need for him to.
If they didn’t say anything, then people would speculate on their own. Felix wasn’t any random guest, but a rogue Omega (with a child!) brought to the Bloodmoon Pack by the heir himself, it was bound to attract everyone’s attention. Even if they wouldn’t dare to question Kade, they would still gossip and try to find the truth on their own... And once Felix’s true identity as the missing member from the Moonhill Pack was discovered - which it undoubtedly would, sooner or later - things would get even more complicated.
So, it was better to prepare some excuses beforehand, in order to control the narrative.
Felix thought about it for a moment, chewing his food. There were several options that came to mind... But none of them was all that good.
"Any ideas?" he eventually asked.
"I have some..." Kade said slowly, averting his gaze...
Felix’s eyes instantly narrowed. He had a bad feeling about it.
And sure enough, Kade soon continued, "In my opinion, the best option would be for me to announce that Vivi is my daughter..."
"No way!" Felix interrupted, slamming his fist on the table. He looked as if he was ready to grab Vivi and rush out of the room at any second.
Perhaps he was overacting, but he had already considered it seriously back when Kade had first offered to claim paternity, right after Vivi had been born. Even if the Alpha’s intentions were good, there were just too many issues that might arise from it...
And Kade was aware of it as well, which is why he wasn’t surprised or offended by Felix’s reaction. He just quickly said, "It’s just one option, I’m not saying we have to do this! However, before you reject it, I would like you to hear my reasoning first!"
Since Kade was not too insistent, Felix calmed down a bit.
"Go on," he nodded at the Alpha, although he still remained alert and tense.
"Ahem, well," Kade cleared his throat. "We had that agreement about me not pursuing you for two years. Is it still valid?"
Felix paused for a moment.
To be honest, he wasn’t sure. The reasons why he initially came up with this rule were, first and foremost, because he couldn’t convince Kade to give up on him completely, so he came up with this temporary solution. Then, it was to ensure that they weren’t influenced by any lingering feelings from the fated bond they had used to share. And finally, so that they would grow distant, allowing Kade to realize that they weren’t a good match, and find someone more suitable. But now that Felix would be in the Bloodmoon Pack, near Kade all the time, would it make any difference if Kade pursued him openly or not? Since the Alpha might still try to flirt with him under the guise of ’normal interactions’...
It probably wouldn’t. But, he still answered, "Yes."
Kade had expected such an answer, so he just nodded his head. "Right. That’s what I thought." He took a bite of his food, before explaining, "There are generally two ways in which we can justify you staying in the Bloodmoon Pack, even if your real identity is exposed. One, if you become my mate... And the other, if you are the mother of my pup. Since you’re not certain about the first one yet, then it would be best to start with the second one, right?"
Felix lifted his brows.
’Not certain yet’? ’Start with the second one’? It sounded as if Kade was treating this only as a temporary measure, and was convinced that Felix would eventually become his mate...
Felix didn’t correct him, though. He just let him talk, as Kade continued his explanations,
"If Vivi is announced to be my pup, both you and your daughter will receive the best protection the pack has to offer. On top of that, you will be allowed to reside in the main residential building, in the same wing as me. As for your duties, the one and only thing you will be obligated to do will be caring for our pup. And even if anyone realizes your identity, or if the Moonhill Pack comes knocking, you will still have the right to remain in the Bloodmoon Pack, and no one will be able to argue with that. Wouldn’t that be the best solution?"
It... indeed sounded reasonable. However...
"What if anyone wants to do a paternity test?"
Kade’s face darkened. "Let’s see who dares!"
...Indeed, no one in the Bloodmoon Pack or the Moonhill Pack, not even Jared... Probably not even Wilder Embermane, would dare. freewёbnoνel.com
But the Misty Claw Pack might.
And besides, that wasn’t Felix’s only concern.
"What if I want to leave in the future?" he asked. "If Vivi is believed to be your daughter... Won’t she be forced to stay?"
Kade’s brows twitched at the mention of Felix leaving, but he was prepared. "Don’t worry about it," he said, waving his hand dismissively. "Since the leader of the pack knows the truth, you won’t be punished once the fact that I’m not the biological father gets revealed. I’m the one who deceived everyone, so I will take all the potential fallout upon myself, you won’t be blamed for anything."
For a moment, Felix just stared at Kade, stunned. "You... Are you really willing to go that far?" he asked, his voice filled with disbelief. "Why?"
"Because you’re worth it," Kade grinned. "So, don’t worry about anything, and just relax, alright?"
Felix lowered his gaze, staring at the sumptuous dishes on his plate. Although he was still unsure... He eventually nodded his head. "Alright. Let’s do as you say..."
After all, did he have any better options? No matter what he chose, he was bound to run into plenty of issues...
