I Would Rather Be a Rogue [BL]-Chapter 273: Where’s My Little Vivi?
A few minutes later, they finally left the room, Felix in a fresh, wrinkle-free shirt. Put on and buttoned up by him and him alone, as Felix was no longer willing to trust Kade with his clothes. Especially not when they were tight on time, and there was no room for any more ’accidents’.
At least there was one good thing about this whole mishap, and that was that Felix wasn’t shaking anymore. He was still tense and anxious, but Kade’s ridiculousness chased the shakiness out of him, it seemed.
The little ’tea party’, where the ’talks’ with Wilder regarding Felix’s situation were supposed to officially start, was held at a small (for the Bloodmoon Pack’s standards), cozy reception room in the guest house, with massive glass windows overlooking the gardens, which gave it the feeling of spaciousness and a lot of natural light. Once again, there were only Wilder, Kade’s parents, Kade’s parents’ assistants, Kade, and Felix present. One of the elders from Fen and Cael’s family might join the main negotiations on the fourth and fifth days, based on what Felix had been told, but for now, Kade’s parents decided to keep it very private. Just two families that could potentially be joined in by marriage in the future.
When Felix and Kade arrived, Felix holding onto Kade’s arm in a couple-like manner, the rest of the people were already there. It was only five minutes before the scheduled time, after all, no thanks to Kade. Wilder looked both of them up and down...
"Where is my little Vivi?" he asked, feigning concern. "Is she still unwell?"
Felix instantly froze, to the point that he resembled an ice statue.
Did his father really have to bring Vivi the first thing? Calling her ’my little Vivi’? Who’s ’little Vivi’ was she supposed to be? Certainly not Wilder’s! Well, technically, yes, she was his biological granddaughter... But blood ties were not everything. Wilder had never shown any genuine concern for Felix, and Felix didn’t believe that he actually cared about Vivi either, at least not beyond how he could possibly use her for his benefit. So, his father calling her in such an affectionate way made him sick to his stomach! 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
And what did he mean by ’still unwell’? As far as Felix could remember, he hadn’t at any point said that she was sick! On the first day, he had said that he was worried she MIGHT get sick, since the weather wasn’t too good, that’s all...
Kade glanced down at him. Seeing that Felix seemed to be spiraling in his mind again, he answered for him, "She’s perfectly healthy, thank you for your concern. It’s just that she’s still just a little pup, she wouldn’t enjoy this tea party, so we left her with her nanny, where she could play or nap to her heart’s content."
"Ah, that’s great then," Wilder smiled with fake relief. It looked genuine, but at the sight of it, Felix only narrowed his eyes. He suspected that Wilder wasn’t happy about it at all, since if Vivi was sick, then his argument about the treatment would be more effective against Kade. He couldn’t voice his accusations out loud, though, at least not during this tea party, since Kade’s parents were trying to maintain a polite, cordial atmosphere. Regardless how he personally felt, it was better to play along.
Wilder was not done yet, though. Just as Felix and Kade took their seats by the table, he spoke again, "I understand that formal tea time might not be the most fun activity for little pups... However, it’s already my third day here, and I still haven’t even seen a shadow of my one and only granddaughter. As her grandfather, it saddens me greatly... If you didn’t want to bring her to our official meeting, you should have brought her to my room instead..."
Felix almost exploded inwardly. Although his face was still perfectly calm - whether it was through his effort to keep it that way, or whether it was simply frozen still, it was unclear - he was screaming and tossing things around in his head.
What right did Wilder have to want to see his pup?! Well, the obvious, that is the blood ties, but still.
"I wish I could play with our little Vivi as well. And spend more time with you. We haven’t seen each other in so long..." Wilder sighed, before glancing at Kade’s parents. "Surely the Bloodmoon Pack isn’t stopping you or your pup from meeting your family, right?"
"Of course not," Kade interjected smoothly, before his parents could respond. "Felix is just a very diligent person, and puts his responsibilities first. As for Vivi... She is a very shy pup, and she’s not good with strangers."
Not good with strangers? Felix wouldn’t say so! Especially after arriving at the Bloodmoon Pack, Vivi was doing very well. She wasn’t necessarily open to everyone, but she seemed to have great intuition, even at her young age. She was quiet and wary around people who were not too welcoming of her and Felix, but cheery and giggly around those who were truly friendly towards them. And with some people - Kade in particular. As well as Remi, but he didn’t really count, since he had been by her side all along, ever since she had been born - she was even a bit too clingy, in Felix’s opinion. Not that there was something inherently wrong about it, he was just worried she might get too attached to people who might disappear from her life later.
But then again, when it came to Wilder, she probably wouldn’t be too happy to be around him. She had thrown a crying fit during her first meeting with Jared, even though the Alpha was her father, so she clearly didn’t respond to the blood bonds. So, Felix nodded his head, agreeing with Kade’s argument...
It was a mistake. Because in response, Wilder put on a worried expression once again, "Then it’s even more important for her to meet me soon. Otherwise, it will be difficult for her once you come to the Moonhill Pack..."
...Felix’s face instantly turned pale. Kade also threw him a concerned glance.
Taking Vivi to the Moonhill Pack? They had been so focused on discussing Felix’s potential trip and how they could avoid it, that they hadn’t brought up the topic of the pup at all. It seemed unnecessary, to be honest - was there really anything to discuss? Obviously, if Felix were to go, he would take Vivi with him. He was the pup’s mother, and Kade was only the father on paper. He wasn’t even sure if he had the right to call himself the adoptive parent, since Felix probably still didn’t think of him as such.
But... Now that Wilder had mentioned it, keeping Vivi in the Bloodmoon Pack was actually a good idea, or so Kade thought. If Vivi stayed here while Felix went to the Moonhill Pack alone, that would give Kade a good excuse to bring him back quickly. Or, if that mysterious condition that Wilder had told him about was true, they could arrange for Felix to travel back and forth between the two packs. Live in the Bloodmoon Pack, and only visit the Moonhill Pack occasionally for treatment...
Almost as soon as the idea popped in his head, though, he realized that it was never going to work. First of all, Felix would never agree to leave Vivi behind, even if that meant bringing her to the Moonhill Pack which he hated so much. The distance between their packs was too great, and any trip would have to be at least a few days long, possibly even longer, as the travel time alone would take up too much time.
Second of all, said mysterious condition was supposed to be hereditary. Which meant that Vivi might have inherited it as well. Her health had been great so far, but since the Bloodmoon Pack’s doctors couldn’t diagnose, or even detect, Felix’s mysterious illness, there was a possibility Vivi just hadn’t displayed any signs YET. If the remedy for it was real, she should receive the treatment as well, just to be safe.
And finally... Kade didn’t want to let Felix go alone. If Felix had to go visit, or potentially live, in the Moonhill Pack for a while, then Kade was going to do everything in his power to follow him. If the Moonhill Pack didn’t allow him to stay, then he would force one of their neighboring packs to take him in. If his parents tried to rationalize with him and deter him from it, then he didn’t mind getting into a conflict with them either. Their relationship was great, so even if they were to argue about it, they would still love each other and make up eventually. And that’s IF they even tried to oppose him.
But if he were going to go as well, then how could Vivi possibly stay in the Bloodmoon Pack’s pack house?
