Ignored When Chasing: Why Cry After I Got Engaged-Chapter 165: The Future Master of the Nathan Family
"The person in charge from the head office?" Justin Bell thought for a moment, then it dawned on him. "Is Miss Selina Nathan here too?"
The Nathans of Aethelgard only had one heir. Since this person was in charge and new, it was most likely Cecilia Nathan.
Ever since learning Cecilia Nathan’s true identity, Justin Bell’s emotions had been on a rollercoaster.
He had guessed that Cecilia might be connected to the Nathan Family, but he never imagined she was actually *the* Miss Nathan.
The general manager shook his head slowly at this. "No, Miss Nathan has never shown up before. Why would she suddenly come to our branch office? It’s a man with the surname Sinclair."
"Sinclair..." Justin Bell furrowed his brow. "I’ve never heard of him."
"You’ve never heard of Miles Sinclair?"
"Miles who?" Justin Bell thought he had misheard. "Miles Sinclair?"
’How could it be Miles Sinclair...’
The general manager sighed. "Does the name sound like some celebrity? I don’t follow celebrities. It was my wife who told me that Miles Sinclair is a star."
Miles Sinclair, a celebrity...
"Manager Sullivan, why would your President Nathan let Miles Sinclair be the person in charge for the head office?"
’If Miles Sinclair is calling the shots in Aethelgard now, this partnership probably won’t be so easy.’
"I don’t know the specific reason, but I’ve heard some rumors that President Nathan is grooming a successor. If it’s a man, he’s probably Miss Nathan’s boyfriend—the Nathan family’s future son-in-law."
’The future son-in-law is Miles Sinclair?’
"Manager Bell, if you had come a few days ago, I would have had the authority to make a decision. But as of yesterday, all our partnerships require Mr. Sinclair’s approval. If you have any collaborations in mind, you can only sign off on them with him."
Following Manager Sullivan’s arrangements, Justin Bell waited in the office for Miles Sinclair to arrive.
’I’ll see for myself if Linden Nathan has really chosen Miles Sinclair as his future son-in-law.’
A few hours later, Justin Bell finally met the man.
However, when he saw Miles Sinclair in person, Justin Bell was inwardly shocked.
It really was Miles Sinclair!
"Miles Sinclair, what exactly is your relationship with the Nathan Family now?"
"For now, I’m just a minor manager for the Nathan Family. In the future..." Miles Sinclair’s lips curled into a gentle, refined smile. "Perhaps I’ll be Cecilia Nathan’s fiancé."
Fiancé...
The smile on Justin Bell’s face completely vanished.
’Miss Cecilia Nathan is going to marry Miles Sinclair?’
’And with Linden Nathan’s approval...’
’If President Hawthorne finds out, he’ll probably lose his mind.’
"Oh, by the way, Assistant Bell, I’ve looked at the partnership proposal you submitted." Miles Sinclair sat in the executive chair, placed the document on the desk, folded his hands, and chuckled. "Do you have any other proposals?"
Justin Bell glanced at the contract. "We’ve already put forth our best proposal. If you have other requirements, Mr. Sinclair, we can revise it..."
"This is your best proposal?" Miles Sinclair glanced at the contract again and sighed softly. "I’m sorry, but we’re not impressed with your proposal."
"So there’s no need to cooperate."
Miles Sinclair’s voice was magnetic, as deep and resonant as a cello.
"Besides, with the Nathan Family’s resources, we don’t need to partner with any company."
Those were the exact words Justin Bell had once used on others.
He never thought someone would one day say the same thing back to him.
"Can your words represent the Nathan Corporation, Mr. Sinclair?" Justin Bell took a deep breath. "Hawthorne Enterprises doesn’t partner with just anyone. If you reject our partnership on behalf of the Nathan Family just like that, can you bear the consequences?"
Miles Sinclair smiled calmly. "Mr. Linden Nathan has already handed over the company’s external partnership operations to me. That means I have the authority to decide whether or not to cooperate with you."
Any further words from Justin Bell were caught in his throat.
Miles Sinclair’s attitude was obvious. He was not going to let the Nathan and Hawthorne families have any further association.
Recalling what the general manager had said about Miles Sinclair being the Nathan family’s future son-in-law, Justin Bell’s expression turned complex.
"Fine. Since you’re not interested, Mr. Sinclair, I’ll go ask our President Hawthorne."
Justin Bell remembered that Cecilia Nathan had said she wanted to partner with the Hawthorne Family.
But now Miles Sinclair was saying no...
Justin Bell frowned.
’Could it be that Miles Sinclair didn’t discuss this with Cecilia Nathan?’
After Justin Bell left, Miles Sinclair looked through the documents in his hand, opened his laptop, and chuckled softly at a sudden thought.
Linden Nathan hadn’t just handed over the Nathan family’s assets to him without reservations.
He had given him a test.
Miles Sinclair knew that only by passing this test could he truly earn Linden Nathan’s trust.
「The Sinclair Villa.」
Fiona Sinclair had been staring intently at her family’s stock prices.
Only when she saw the stock stabilize did her heart finally settle.
"Grandma..." Serena Hughes rushed in.
Fiona Sinclair’s body was slightly stooped. She tapped her cane on the floor—TAP, TAP—as she walked up to Serena Hughes, raised her other hand, and slapped her hard across the face.
"How did I raise you? I told you not to offend anyone from the Hawthorne Family, so why must you insist on causing trouble for me?"
Serena Hughes clutched her cheek, tears welling in her eyes. "But isn’t the company stable now?"
"Stable? Stable? Do you have any idea how our company was stabilized?" Fiona Sinclair took a deep breath and called out to someone outside the door, "Come in."
Just then, a woman with a slightly protruding belly walked in.
"This is Quinn Sutton, your great-aunt’s daughter." After Fiona Sinclair spoke, Quinn Sutton walked up to Serena Hughes and obediently called out, "Cousin."
Serena Hughes didn’t understand why Fiona Sinclair had brought such a person here.
"Grandma, what do you mean by this?" Serena Hughes looked at Fiona Sinclair in confusion. "The company is stable because of me."
She had swallowed her pride and begged Cecilia Nathan. The company was only stable because Cecilia had agreed to help.
"You, shut your mouth! The company nearly collapsed because of you. If your cousin hadn’t found some connections to help, do you think we would have needed your help?" Fiona Sinclair finished, looking at her with disappointment. "I originally thought you could inherit the Sinclair Family. But now it seems you’re just not a good fit for us. The Sinclair Family cannot be handed over to you in the future."
It was as if a clap of thunder had exploded right beside Serena Hughes’s ear.
"Grandma, you... how can you say that? Even though Damian Hawthorne wants revenge on me, it’s not entirely my fault! If you hadn’t egged me on back then, encouraging me to seduce him, how would I have ended up like this..."
Serena Hughes was about to lose her mind.
She had always thought everything in the Sinclair Family would be hers. She never expected some Quinn Sutton to just appear out of nowhere.
"I’m going to find Cecilia Nathan! I’ll have her come and tell you herself that she was the one who helped, not this person!" Serena Hughes staggered, trying to leave, but Quinn Sutton blocked her way.
"Cousin, haven’t you embarrassed yourself enough?"
"What on earth are you fantasizing about? Who do you think Cecilia Nathan is? Why would she ever help you?"
