I’ll Be The Warrior’s Mother-Chapter 133
She was anxious. She was a thousand times more anxious now than when she had discovered Colin’s pulverized face yesterday.
After her mind wandered for a bit, Yelena moved.
She rang her bell and called a maid. After ordering the maid to fetch a handkerchief for Colin, she quietly escaped from the crying Colin to her study.
“Whew,” Yelena let out a sigh without realizing.
People often say that a woman’s tears are a weapon, but how Yelena saw it, a grown man’s tears were also a sufficient weapon.
‘I don’t even know anymore… As expected, understanding other people is hard…’
Yelena decided to give up on trying to understand Colin this time around as well.
***
Yelena’s head guard ended up becoming three people, rather than Colin alone.
Upon hearing about what happened with Colin, Thomas and Max threw a fit and found their way to Yelena’s front door to protest.
“What Sir Colin received wasn’t a punishment, but an honor!”
“An honor! An honor!”
“It’s unfair that only Sir Colin gets to receive such an honor!”
“It’s unfair! It’s unfair!”
“Please bestow the same honor on us!”
“Please! Please!”
…That was basically the kind of protest it was. They had white bands around their foreheads, from where Yelena did not know. No longer wanting to see the two men protest, Yelena decided to just take in all three of them at once.
Thomas and Max always followed her around on her walks as her “guards” anyway.
She figured being escorted on her excursions would be no different from being escorted on her indoor walks.
Plus, the fact that the two men decided to assume the same conditions as Colin–unpaid labor–also played a part in Yelena’s decision.
And exactly a week after the kidnapping incident, Yelena heard some unexpected news.
“The Marezon family’s butler died?”
Ben nodded.
“Yes. They say it was suicide.”
He told her everything he had heard.
Incan had been secretly practicing black magic since a very long time ago, but a few years ago, his older sister Rebecca Marezon had found him out.
Incan, who had been caught practicing forbidden magic, chose to abuse and blackmail his sister.
Ever since then, Incan continuously persecuted Rebecca. The Marezon butler was aware of this, but turned a blind eye to it because he was worried that if word got out, the Marezons’ reputation would be tarnished.
After Incan’s death, Rebecca revealed every detail of her abuse and blackmail. That day, the Marezons’ butler hung himself in his residence.
“They found his will.”
In his will, he confessed to knowing about everything but keeping his mouth shut, and of the guilt he felt because of it.
“It hadn’t been disclosed, but the abuse was very severe. He was physically abusive as well.”
“Goodness.” Yelena clicked her tongue.
Incan was an even worse piece of trash than she thought.
She was suddenly hit with the thought that it was a good thing he died.
“Then that means that Incan practicing black magic turned out to be true.”
“It seems so, now that there is evidence for it.”
Rebecca did not make her claims with just her words. She had found a piece of evidence in Incan’s room that supported her statements: an old book about black magic that could not be found in the market by normal means.
“Then that time his corpse disappeared…”
“There is a high possibility. They could not find any suspicious persons who may have transported the body in the vicinity.”
“Hmm.” Yelena stroked her chin.
To think that not a trace of Incan was left in this world after his death, as even his corpse had disappeared.
It was quite a fascinating side to black magic. Perhaps it would be more suitable to call it “bizarre” and “unsettling.”
“What is Viscount Marezon doing?”
“He claims that Incan’s actions have nothing to do with the Marezon family. He has also promised to send a gift of apology to the ducal castle, out of moral obligation.”
Ben continued, “And he has sent documents requesting to erase Incan’s name from his family’s genealogy to the royal castle.”
In other words, he was trying to bury his late son from the family register.
Yelena nodded. It was reasonable.
“He will probably be granted permission quickly.”
Yelena’s kidnapping was also a problem, but Incan’s black magic was a bigger scandal.
The upper class would be in uproar over this issue for a long time, Yelena thought.
“Oh, and Madam. I have news regarding the herbal medicine dispensary we had spoken about previously.”
Ah, come to think of it, Yelena had completely forgotten about the dispensary in the midst of everything else that was happening.
Yelena prayed that it was good news.
