"WHAT are you talking about, Kyungmin Hyung? An Baekya and Yuhyun are just kids. How could they trigger each other’s pheromones?"

Wonyoung nodded in agreement with what Yun Dujun asked. "Plus, didn’t you just that the kids’ pheromones are still dormant, Dr. Seong?"

"Look at these charts," Dr. Seong Kyungmin said while pointing at the computer monitor with a pointer. "The one on the left side is Yun Yuhyun’s, while the one on the right side is An Baekya’s."

To be honest, Wonyoung didn’t understand the images.

The images looked like clear ultrasound results.

Even so, nothing registered to him.

So, he just focused on the numbers indicated in each chart and...

"The kids have exactly the same pheromone level?" Wonyoung asked awkwardly because he wasn’t sure if he got it right. "Dr. Seong, is it not normal for two people to have the same pheromone level? Maybe all children who are about to manifest have the same level, not just Baekya and Yuhyun."

Dr. Seong Kyungmin shook his head. "Even in their dormant state, children who are about to manifest as Alphas tend to have higher pheromone levels than children who are about to manifest as Omegas."

I know that Baekya is going to manifest as an Omega, so why are his dormant pheromones the same level as Yuhyun’s?

"Like I said earlier, everything I’ve said so far is just what I think is happening. A hunch, to be more precise," Dr. Seong Kyungmin said. "I need to further observe the kids to be more certain."

"But what made you think that An Baekya and my son trigger each other’s pheromones, Hyung?" Yun Dujun asked curiously. "Is it only because they have the same pheromone level?"

"Yes. That and because the second case I handled, where children under seven years old manifested their Secondary Gender featured a pair of twins," Dr. Seong Kyungmin explained. "Both are boys, but the older one manifested as an Omega while the younger one manifested as an Alpha. Before they awakened, the twins had the same level of dormant pheromones despite having different Secondary Gender. Plus, back when I was observing them, I noticed that the Alpha’s pheromones trigger his Omega brother’s pheromones. Not in a sexual way, of course."

Thank goodness the doctor cleared that up right away.

I was just starting to get uncomfortable...

"It’s just that every time the Alpha brother releases small amount of pheromones, the Omega brother would do the same to protect himself from the Alpha brother’s scent. Children are more sensitive than adults, and they hate the scent of other people. That’s why the Omega brother would release his own pheromones to mask the scent of his Alpha brother."

"Ah, I get it now," Yun Dujun said while nodding. "But, Hyung, your example only showed the Alpha triggering the Omega’s pheromones. I thought the twins you’re talking about triggered each other’s pheromones? How did the Omega trigger his twin brother’s pheromones?"

"Just the fact that another kid with a Secondary Gender was near the Alpha brother was enough for his pheromones to leak out from time to time— all to assert dominance," Dr. Seong Kyungmin said, shrugging. "Apparently, Alphas are simply born with the need to always be on top."

Wonyoung’s husband and son were both Alphas, but...

I still have to say that most Alphas are bad people.

Anyway, a thought entered his mind now that he had a grasp on what was happening to the kids.

"Dr. Seong, I don’t want Yuhyun and Baekya to manifest their Secondary Gender this early. I know that it shouldn’t matter, but I don’t like how they suddenly became sensitive to pheromones. Kids their age shouldn’t be worrying about things like that yet," Wonyoung said worriedly. "Will their awakening be stalled if they don’t live in the same house?"

"I’m not sure, but it might work," Dr. Seong Kyungmin said, obviously in deep thought. "I have reasons to believe that Yun Yuhyun might awaken as an Alpha— a dominant one, at that. So, his pheromones might be triggering An Baekya’s manifestation. But, if the kids start living separately, their awakening might get delayed."

Wonyoung was relieved to hear that.

So, we can do something to delay the kids’ early manifestation.

"Wonyoung-ah, where should we send An Baekya, then?"

"I’m thinking of going back to my old apartment," Wonyoung said, and then he turned to Yun Dujun. "Me and An Baekya."

Yun Dujun’s face immediately darkened. "No."

"What do you mean ’no,’ Hyung?"

"You’re going to leave me and Yuhyun to take care of An Baekya? Have you considered how your son and I will feel if you do that?"

Wonyoung flinched, suddenly feeling guilty. "But it will only be a temporary arrangement, Hyung."

Yun Dujun let out a frustrated sigh. "Don’t you think you should discuss this kind of thing with me and your son first, Bae Wonyoung?"

Oh.

Hyung is pissed.

That was understandable, but...

Wonyoung avoided Yun Dujun’s gaze. "Let’s not fight in front of Dr. Seong, Hyung."

"But Gayoung-ah is still a university student..."

"We can leave the hospital once Dujun Hyung is done with his meeting with the hospital director," Wonyoung said, and then he paused for a moment. "Baekya, I have something to tell you about why you’re suddenly sick."

He then explained what they had discussed with Dr. Seong Kyungmin earlier.

After that, he told An Baekya the solution he came up with Yun Dujun.
