I'll Raise My Future Omega Son-in-law-Chapter 118: BIT BY BIT
YUN DUJUN rarely showed emotions, so Wonyoung found it weird when he saw panic cross the Alpha’s eyes.
It’s as if Hyung were caught red-handed.
"No, there’s nothing else to add," Yun Dujun said while shaking his head. "I was just worried that Park Kyumin had said something weird. I don’t want to talk behind his back, but I don’t want you to misunderstand, Wonyoung-ah. That person likes acting as if we were close, so please don’t believe anything he says immediately. Ask me first."
The Alpha’s explanation somewhat justified his reaction earlier.
However, the nagging feeling in Wonyoung’s chest didn’t disappear completely.
Having said that, he still let it slide.
I mean, why would Dujun Hyung lie to me?
Plus, something else bothered him now.
"Did you personally tell Kyumin Sunbae-nim about your audition, Hyung?" Wonyoung asked, his voice tinged with a little bitterness. "Honestly, it kind of upsetting that Kyumin Sunbae-nim bragged about something that I didn’t know about you."
"No, it’s not like that, Wonyoung-ah," Yun Dujun denied, getting down on one knee while looking up at Wonyoung with pleading eyes. It was as if the Alpha were afraid to be misunderstood. "I don’t even know how Park Kyumin knew about my interest in Director Bang’s new work. But I guess he snooped around the people working with Director Bang."
That was a relief.
I mean, I know that Dujun Hyung didn’t tell Kyumin Sunbae-nim about his audition on purpose, but it’s still a relief to hear it straight from the Alpha.
Wonyoung kept his mouth shut and remained silent.
As a result, Yun Dujun continued with his explanation— probably worried that he wasn’t convinced with his explanation yet.
"I once had a dinner with the director, along with other directors I’ve worked in the past," Yun Dujun continued with his explanation. "There, Director Bang mentioned that he’s already working on the last installment of his hit drama series. I strongly expressed my interest in auditioning for the lead role in that drama. There were many people who heard our conversation, so that’s probably how Park Kyumin found out about the audition."
"Okay, I understand now," Wonyoung said, pausing for a moment. Since Yun Dujun was acting desperately to appease him, he thought it was a good time to throw a fake tantrum. He just wanted to see the Alpha continue appeasing him. "Hyung, I’m a big fan of Director Bang and his Childhood series. Why didn’t you tell me that you’re going to audition for his new drama? Are you afraid that I might audition, too?"
The last part was just him being silly, though.
Why would Dujun Hyung be insecure of me?
"I honestly completely forgot about the audition," Yun Dujun said as if he were embarrassed. "And the audition hasn’t been made public yet. But, of course, I won’t stop you from auditioning if you want to, Wonyoung-ah."
"No takebacks?"
"Yes, no takebacks."
Since Wonyoung was a big fan of Director Bang and his series, might as well audition. "If we end up auditioning for the same role, then we’ll be rivals, Hyung. Let’s have a healthy competition, okay?"
"Sure."
"Can I say something rude, though?"
"Go ahead. It’s not like it would be the first time."
Pfft.
"I’m sorry to say this, and I know I’m being biased, but I was really shocked when I heard you were going to audition for Director Bang’s drama, Hyung," Wonyoung said. "I thought a family drama wouldn’t suit you, Hyung. Of course, I know you’re a good actor. It’s just that you’ve been into a lot of noir films and action drama, so it’s hard for me to imagine you playing a warmhearted character."
He was aware that he was being rude to a fellow actor, so he added:
"But I’m sure you’ll change my mind once you start playing your role, Hyung. You’re a great actor, after all."
Yun Dujun smiled faintly. "You speak as if I’ve already bagged the role. I thought you wanted to compete with me?"
"Yes, but I thought it would be interesting to see you play a character that’s very different from the characters you usually play," Wonyoung said, already thrilled while imagining Yun Dujun in a new role. "I can’t wait to see you acting as a bright, slightly dumb but hardworking young man who’ll do anything and everything to protect his family. Plus, I can’t wait to see you wear plaids the entire show..."
Wonyoung trailed off.
What the heck am I saying?
Even the Alpha looked confused.
"Wonyoung-ah, the details about Director Bang’s new drama haven’t been released yet. All we know is that the third installment of his trilogy will be the same as the other two— with the lead being a nice person who grew up in a warm family," Yun Dujun said, tilting his head to one side. "Why do you speak like you know the main character so well?"
Right?
Even Wonyoung was confused.
Moreover, he also had a clear image of Yun Dujun smiling brightly— like a himbo— while wearing a yellow plaid shirt.
Yeah, he looked a bit ridiculous in that outfit.
But the Alpha’s face card saved him.
I haven’t seen Dujun Hyung wore a plaid shirt before, not even during our college days. So, why do I have that clear image in my head? Plus, Dujun Hyung doesn’t smile like that!
"Wonyoung-ah?"
"Oh. I just tried imagining the new character by combining the characteristics of the previous male leads from the duology," Wonyoung lied, laughing awkwardly. After all, even he was weirded out by what had just transpired. "And that’s probably the character I want you to play next, Hyung. I want to see you act like a himbo for once."
Yun Dujun raised an eyebrow. "If you want to see me act like a himbo who loves wearing plaid shirts, I can do that for you."
"What?"
"Roleplay, baby."
Aigoo.
Wonyoung was slightly annoyed that Yun Dujun called him ’baby’ again, but that didn’t matter since he only focused on one thing. "Hyung, you’re such a pervert."
"Only for you, Wonyoung-ah," Yun Dujun said, smirking. "Only for you."
***
"YOU’RE DOING well, Wonyoung-ssi! Keep it up!"
Wonyoung smiled at Kang Hyuna’s praises.
The female Alpha photographer showered him with compliments while the clicks and the flashes of her huge, professional camera didn’t stop.
I think we’re almost done here.
Hence, Wonyoung started to space out as his body relaxed.
He couldn’t help but think about the image of Yun Dujun that he saw earlier.
It wasn’t just the clear vision of the Alpha that bothered him.
I don’t want to think about it too deeply, but I know the plot of Director Bang’s final installment of his trilogy. The main lead is a himbo who wears plaid shirts all the time, and he’s the baby of the family. His friends are protective of him because he always gets scammed. It’s a light story, so there’s not much drama. But the drama brings so much nostalgia because it’s set in the 1980s. The viewers loved reminiscing about how simple life was during that time.
Oh, god.
Wonyoung felt a shiver down his spine.
I’m an actor, not a writer. So, where did I get this plot?! I’m sure I haven’t played this character in the ’other’ world. Plus, why am I certain that this is the story of Director Bang’s new drama?
Ah, could it be...?
Memories from my past life? Yeah, that’s it. I don’t remember much from that timeline, but I’m sure Yun Yuhyun was older than five when I died back then. So, maybe I got to watch Dujun Hyung’s drama?
Wonyoung smiled when the realization hit him.
Yes, it was a good thing that a piece of his memory had returned. But it wasn’t the only reason why he was happy.
That means Hyung got the role!
He was happy for the Alpha, but his smile disappeared soon when memories he didn’t remember suddenly flooded his mind.
And the ’main character’ of that memory?
Lee Heeju.
Suddenly, Wonyoung had a splitting headache— like his skull was being cracked open.
It hurts...
"Bae Wonyoung!"
When Wonyoung lifted his head, he wondered why Yun Dujun was running towards him with a worried look on his face.
And he only realized why when his world was turned upside down.
Then everything turned black.
Oh, I fainted.
***
"BAE Wonyoung, do you know why Yun Dujun didn’t divorce you even after what you did to Yun Yuhyun?"
Wonyoung flinched while watching Lee Heeju and the older Bae Wonyoung talk.
Yes, he was seeing his memory as if it were a dream.
And he was already feeling uncomfortable.
For some reason, the image of him strangling Yun Yuhyun flashed in his mind again because of Lee Heeju’s question earlier.
Was Lee Heeju talking about that incident?
"If you have something to say, then say it already," the older Bae Wonyoung said coldly. "Unlike you, I have other matters to attend to."
"Don’t lie. I know that you only watch Dujun’s new drama these days."
Aigoo.
Wonyoung couldn’t help but realize that, even back then, he was such a simp for Yun Dujun.
"Childhood Sweethearts, isn’t it?"
Oh, that was the title of the drama.
"It must be fun watching Yun Dujun play a himbo who loves his family and friends. After all, the real Yun Dujun isn’t capable of such things. Even Director Bang rejected Yun Dujun when he first auditioned, since he thought Yun Dujun couldn’t evoke such emotions. But do you know why Director Bang had a change of heart?"
"I told you to get straight to the point—"
"Yun Dujun used you and Yun Yuhyun to get the role."
"What the hell are you talking about?"
Lee Heeju laughed before answering: "Yun Dujun acted like a doting husband to you as a way to practice playing a loving husband’s role. Likewise, he also acted like a good father to Yun Yuhyun for the same purpose. And he showed that side to Director Bang."
The older Bae Wonyoung got stunned, speechless— obviously gutted.
And the current Wonyoung felt the same.
Maybe even worse.
Is that the reason why Dujun Hyung refused to divorce me...?
