Illimitable Until Death-Chapter 211
Reki wasn’t a stranger to Fang Li either.
During their early days at Butei High, both Fang Li and Reki were drawn to the same Commissioned Mission.
After that, Fang Li came to understand that Reki, like himself, had gained an S-Rank Rating during the entrance exams and was also regarded as a treasure by the Snipe Department’s instructors. Students in her field treated her like a prodigy.
This way, it was nearly impossible for Fang Li and Reki not to intersect.
After all, the Assault and Snipe Departments were complementary types – one for close combat and the other for long-range support.
Fang Li was the chief of the Assault Department, and Reki was the chief of the Snipe Department. Both were S-Rank Butei, so it was practically inevitable for them to collaborate.
In the past, Fang Li had undertaken a highly Difficult Mission that lasted two months.
That Mission had been commissioned by an instructor from the Education department. And the individuals chosen by the Education Department to execute this Commissioned Mission were Fang Li and Reki.
Thus, for those two months, Fang Li and Reki worked together constantly.
However, Fang Li couldn’t exactly call himself familiar with Reki either.
The reason was simple. Reki’s personality made it nearly impossible for anyone to get close to her.
In essence, this young girl didn’t display any emotions.
At least, over the course of this year, no one at Butei High had seen any expression on Reki’s face.
Moreover, Reki didn’t speak when it wasn’t necessary and had a low presence that bordered on eerie.
It wasn’t just being reserved; it made one question if she was even human.
Because of this, people at Butei High referred to Reki as a robot and claimed she had no emotions.
In reality, Fang Li had never seen any emotional fluctuations in Reki.
So, for a period of time, Fang Li had been quite curious about Reki.
“If I only feel nothing towards death, does Reki feel nothing towards anything?” This was Fang Li’s reasoning for being intrigued by Reki.
Furthermore, because of their long work partnership, Fang Li certainly didn’t feel like a stranger to Reki. However, due to their lack of conversations outside of Missions, he also couldn’t call himself familiar with her.
“I never thought you’d know Reki.” Fang Li said to Aria, “Is this the support you mentioned?”
“Exactly.” Aria nodded and directed her gaze toward Reki. “Given that Butei Assassin is a cunning opponent, it’s highly possible that this incident is similar to the previous bus hijacking, where the criminal used remote-controlled and deceleration bombs to commit the crime without appearing in person. Therefore, I want to hire Reki as our inside agent. She’ll monitor and observe the surroundings as we enter the Dance Party venue.”
“That makes sense.” Fang Li agreed, “I was thinking that the criminal might be hiding behind the scenes again, so we should find a way to expose them. Preparing to this extent is fundamental, right?”
As a snipe specialist, Reki possessed the highest degree of professional knowledge.
By placing Reki in an elevated position, within a radius of two kilometers, nothing should escape her vigilant eyes. Having Reki as an undercover operative watching their backs was a great advantage for both Fang Li and Aria.
“Kacha…”
As Fang Li and Aria finished their conversation, Reki also completed her final step, thoroughly maintaining the sniper rifle.
Shortly afterward, Reki raised the sniper rifle in her hands, and aimed it forward, seemingly checking the functionality of the scope. She moved the firearm slowly and finally directed it toward Fang Li and Aria.
It must be said that being in the crosshairs of a well-known S-Rank Butei specialized in sniping was a rather chilling experience.
Unfortunately, Fang Li and Aria were equally S-Rank Butei. By this point, they were accustomed to having guns pointed at them.
“Reki.” Aria approached Reki with an assertive tone and without hesitation, said, “I want to hire you for a day. Can you come on April 18th?” Without any beating around the bush, Aria got straight to the point.
Reki’s complexion remained unchanged and she only nodded in agreement.
Seeing this, Aria continued, “So, the price will be the same as before, no issues?”
Clearly, Aria had commissioned Reki for tasks before.
Commissioning an S-Rank Butei wasn’t an affordable endeavor.
However, for Aria, who was not only an S-Rank Butei but also a United Kingdom aristocrat, the cost was not a concern.
It’s worth noting that during the bus hijacking incident, Aria had also paid Fang Li’s compensation.
At that time, Fang Li hadn’t become Aria’s partner yet. The attack orders had been commissioned by Aria through Ranbyou to Fang Li, which was equivalent to Aria hiring Fang Li during the bus hijacking incident and naturally footing the commission reward.
It’s likely that Aria had dealt with similar matters quite frequently, and it seemed Reki was often commissioned by Aria.
Facing Aria in this manner, Reki simply nodded softly without uttering a word.
Given this situation, Aria appeared to regard it as a normal occurrence. She stated matter-of-factly, “That’s settled then. Come find me on the evening of April 18th at 7 o’clock. Don’t be late.”
With this statement, Aria seemed to have accomplished her goal for this session. She turned to Fang Li and said, “Alright, let’s go back.”
The whole commissioning process was so succinct that it surprised Fang Li, causing him to smile wryly.
Perhaps this was a situation that would only occur between Aria and Reki.
One who followed her own path without compromise.
One who lacked emotions and required no extra explanations.
When these two individuals came together, everything seemed to simplify.
Thus, Fang Li didn’t say much, he nodded and intended to leave with Aria.
However, right at that moment, Reki unexpectedly spoke up.
“Fang Li-San, please be cautious of your surroundings.”
The sudden words caught Aria off guard and left Fang Li amazed.
Turning his head, Fang Li looked at Reki. Their gazes met directly, without any deviation.
Immediately, Reki continued, “The wind swirling around you is growing intense. You will undoubtedly encounter extraordinary events soon.”
Having said that, Reki turned her head away, wiped her snipe rifle, and fell silent.
Watching this scene unfold, Aria was still processing the words spoken by Reki, but Fang Li recalled something Shirayuki had told him before she left.
“Li-Kun will encounter events that will bring significant changes to his surroundings.”
