I’m Really Not Targeting the Mages-Chapter 33
Chapter 33: Fireproof bead
“It really is a strange item.”
When Roger first saw the White Crow’s Crown, he knew that it was something extraordinary.
As soon as he got his hands on it, he was sure that this was a rare, strange object.
Strange objects were the same as forbidden objects; both were items that the Qi Divination Technique could not analyze.
This was why Roger didn’t get any further information about the White Crow’s Crown. But, if a gray dwarf could use it, Roger was sure that this item would be useful if he kept it by his side.
He put away the White Crow’s Crown and then continued searching the dead chief’s body.
“Found it!”
Roger gave it a good tug and got the thing that was hanging around the chief’s neck.
With the help of the blazing fire around , it could be easily seen that this was an amber-colored bead.
The bead was cold when it was first held, but after some time, the cooling effect died off.
Roger looked at it curiously and then released the Qi Divination Technique.
…
[Master of Genre’s Fireproof Bead (Jewel): the wearer does not have to be afraid of fire]
…
“Woah… this chief is loaded.”
As he looked through the description, Roger couldn’t help but exclaim.
He had a strange object and a jewel. Both of these were priceless treasures.
When compared to these, both the treasure that the corpse demon had was nothing.
Roger immediately put on the fireproof bead.
This treasure was a perfect match with his Magical Suicide Ring.
He could still clearly remember the scene where the chief came running out of the flames —
Not only did he come out uninjured, but even his garments were also completely fine which shows the effectiveness of the fireproof bead.
“Perhaps there is a tomb of a martial arts expert somewhere nearby?”
“Or there has been a martial arts sect here before this?”
These were the only explanations Roger could think of.
After searching through the body twice, he was sure that there was nothing else valuable left.
Then, he got up and looked at the warzone below him.
Both of the ballistae in the Northern part had been destroyed.
Roger even saw some familiar faces.
Rachel was riding Misha and along with the flying dragons, they were chasing away the remaining gray dwarves who were still on the mountains.
Cindy, on the other hand, appeared on top of the tower near the gates.
She was surrounded by an emerald-colored light that might be due to some magical effect.
Eric and the rest were clearing the debris of the magical creatures near the entrance.
As for the young emerald dragon, it was arrogantly flying across the sky.
Once in a while, it would get close to the ground, pick up a few dwarves, and then throw them down in the air!
Without the ballistae, it was only a matter of time that the gray dwarves gave up.
When he saw the scene in front of him, Roger got excited.
If he didn’t use this opportunity to get some kills, where would he find such a good opportunity in the future?
…
The sky soon turned dark.
Most of the troops of the gray dwarves have been destroyed.
Along with the retreat signal, most of the gray dwarves panicked and started escaping in all directions.
As for those who were badly injured by the dragon’s flame, they were ruthlessly abandoned by their companions.
Right outside the gates of the village.
There were still a few injured gray dwarves who were wailing on the ground.
The villagers who survived the attack were all standing on top of the tower and were monitoring the situation outside fearfully.
The young emerald dragon was nowhere in sight; but there was a phantom-like shadow that was moving around the war zone like a grim reaper.
He held a sword in his arm.
As he faced the gray dwarves who could no longer move, a gentle sweep with his sword was already sufficient to end their lives.
As time went by.
The villagers who were screaming and crying in the beginning, had now turned quiet.
Everyone was silently looking at the cruel swordsman, and all of them felt that he looked familiar.
After a while.
A small door by the side opened and an attractive woman walked out of the door.
Chingggg!
Right at this moment, Roger finished off the last gray dwarf that was left.
Then, he turned around.
Cindy had a smile on her tired-looking face. “Are you in love with dear Rachel?”
“I’m telling you in advance that she’s mine.”
Roger kept his green beetle sword, and there was a faint glow in his eyes. “Do you have any poison?”
Cindy was stunned for a moment.
It was probably because she never expected him to ask such questions during their reunion.
“Yes.”
She thought about it and then nodded her head.
“Do you have those which are colorless, tasteless, and extremely poisonous?”
Roger asked again.
Cindy frowned and questioned, “Where would you find such things?”
Roger gritted his teeth in disappointment.
With what he knew about this world, getting a poison that was colorless and tasteless was quite impossible.
“But we have a kind of laxative that is almost similar to what you’re looking for.”
Cindy paused for a moment and said, “It’s not just a laxative. If it is used in a huge amount, it can cause a lot of adverse reactions.”
“You’re planning to…?”
She was quick-witted and immediately knew Roger’s plan.
“Give it to me.”
Roger said in a stern tone, “Give me as many as you can.”
“Tonight is a good chance and it may be the only chance that we have.”
Cindy’s eyes glowed in admiration. Then, she nodded her head with an approving smile on her face.
…
About half an hour later, on the west side of the Yellow Stone Island.
Roger’s figure silently appeared outside of a campsite that was heavily guarded.
There were sounds of weeping coming from inside the campsite from time to time, even the guards on duty were distracted by it.
Although they had doubled the number of dwarves on duty, the defensive effect was worse than before.
When Roger saw this chance, he climbed onto the strong fence and lightly landed at the campsite.
This was one of the six campsites that the gray dwarves had built on Yellow Stone Island.
Initially, there were at least 500 gray dwarves in this campsite.
But after yesterday’s fight, most of them now were just injured soldiers.
Other than that, the most important thing that happened was that most of them had directly faced the young emerald dragon as their enemies which sparked fear in them.
Not everyone could withstand the wrath of a true dragon.
This kind of mental deterrence would continuously affect them.
This was also the reason that caused the downfall of their impervious guards tonight.
This was why Roger said that tonight was their only chance.
Now that he had successfully entered into their campsite, he only had one thing to do —
Poison!
Although these were just laxatives, he had enough to cause chaos for all these magical creatures.
When it comes to war, one should also think of ways to weaken the enemy and strengthen themselves.
Roger wasn’t the kind that cared about whether it was justifiable.
If he had poisons that were deadly and hard to be discovered, he wouldn’t mind sending all of them to heaven tonight.
In the night.
Roger tiptoed across the campsite cautiously.
After a while, he went around the campsite and managed to find the kitchen.
The defence on the gray dwarves’ campsite were the classic ones — tight on the outside and loose on the inside. There were a few dwarves who were sitting on the floor and were fast asleep near the kitchen.
Upon seeing this, Roger immediately walked into the kitchen and did the same thing that he had done in the past two campsites.
He added double the amount of laxative into their daily freshwater reservoir and added to their food stock.
“Hopefully these would help reduce their toughness value.” Roger wished sincerely from the bottom of his heart.
If these laxatives were really as miraculous as what Cindy described.
Tomorrow would be the day of his best harvest.
…
After placing the poison.
Roger left the kitchen and decided to hang around at the tents nearby to see if there were any injured dwarves.
As long as no one saw him, he should be able to get a few kills.
He slowly got close to the campsite and suddenly overheard an intense argument.
