Chapter 138: The Principal’s Arrival

Eric walked down the long aisle.

The palpable hostility of the Red Group members bored into his back like a thousand sharp needles. He finally reached the very front of the auditorium.

This was where the first row of empty chairs was situated. Just a short distance away was the elevated platform. This was where the teachers and professors of all three ranks were seated.

Eric noticed that some of the ornate fancy chairs on the platform were empty. In the very center of the stage there was a podium for speaking. Behind it were three grand empty chairs.

To the side of these three more empty chairs were arranged. These he surmised were likely reserved for the Principal and the highest-ranking professors of the Academy.

Eric chose the first seat in the front row. It was at the corner where the aisle met the large block of empty chairs. This placed him in close proximity to the seated and still scowling members of the Red Group.

He was sitting right next to his new enemies.

Void Kado and Ryan followed his lead. They took the seats directly beside him. Inspired by Eric’s bravery the forty members of The New Warriors also began to file in.

They started to take their seats. Some of them took the remaining empty seats in Eric’s row. While others filled the two or three rows of empty chairs directly behind them.

They sat together as a single unit.

Seeing their newfound courage the rest of the first-year students the ones who hadn’t joined Eric’s group finally began to move. freewēbnoveℓ.com

They moved hesitantly at first. And then with more confidence they started filling in the remaining empty seats in their designated section of the auditorium.

Beside the block of seats where Eric and his group now sat there was another section of empty chairs.

This section was clearly reserved for the newly admitted female students.

Slowly the girls began to file in and take their seats.

At the very front of their section Eric saw her.

It was Monica the Emperor’s daughter. She walked with a calm composed grace. She sat down in her own front-row seat without so much as a single glance in Eric’s direction.

She was ignoring him completely.

A few seats down from Monica in the same front row Eric finally spotted Alina.

He was a little surprised to see her so close to Princess Monica. It seemed she had by proximity or by some other circumstance ended up in Monica’s sphere of influence in her immediate area.

Eric smiled at Alina trying to offer her a reassuring look a silent message that everything was okay.

But when Alina glanced over at him the expression on her face was not one of excitement or relief.

It was fear.

A clear undisguised fear that sent a jolt of concern through Eric. What happened? he wondered. Why is Alina so scared?

As the last of the first-year students finally settled into their seats Eric became acutely aware of the hundreds of eyes still fixed on him. He didn’t dare turn his head.

He didn’t dare to look around. But he could feel their collective gaze a heavy suffocating pressure from all sides. It felt like everyone was watching him.

Void who was sitting beside him let out a loud unrestrained laugh.

He clapped Eric on the shoulder a little harder than necessary.

"I never thought," he said his voice filled with amusement "that you would create such a massive mess on the very first day of the Academy! Look even the teachers on the stage are glaring at you! It seems you’ve made enemies of them as well! This is fantastic!"

As Eric heard this he felt a wave of despair wash over him. He wanted to cry out. He wanted to tell Void to stop scaring him that he was already terrified enough.

But he kept his expression neutral. He kept his turmoil hidden.

Just as all the students were finally seated a door behind the platform a door that likely connected to another part of the building opened. A new group of individuals began to walk out onto the stage.

The first to emerge was a young woman a teacher. She had vibrant red hair and a warm welcoming smile on her face.

Following her were several other teachers. Their expressions were more stern more serious.

Their auras were more powerful. These were clearly the high-ranking professors of the Academy.

These were individuals who in their prime had been some of the most powerful retired warriors in the entire Empire. They were legends.

And behind them all a single elderly man walked out. He had a short neatly trimmed white beard and matching white hair. He wore long loose-fitting robes that seemed to flow around him as he moved.

He looked wise and very old.

The moment this old man the Principal set foot on the platform a synchronized movement occurred throughout the entire auditorium.

All the professors and teachers on the stage from the highest rank to the lowest stood up at the same time. It was a gesture of profound respect.

Simultaneously all the upperclassmen—the Golden Red Blue and Black groups—also rose to their feet as one single unit.

Seeing this seeing everyone else stand up Eric and the rest of the first-year students not wanting to be the only ones still seated quickly stood up as well.

They all stared with a mixture of curiosity and awe at the elderly man.

This man commanded such immediate and universal respect from everyone.

This was the Principal of the United Academy a figure of immense power and great prestige. His presence changed the entire atmosphere of the room.
