Immortal God of War-Chapter 941 - 899: Little Thieves
"Convince them?"
Mu Qing was speechless.
It’s obvious that the Commander and Deputy Commander of the Kylin Army are the trusted aides of the emperor.
Convincing them might be tougher than just barging in.
Qin Feiyang smiled, "I know it’s challenging to convince them, but I’m confident."
"Are you sure?"
Despite Qin Feiyang’s confident demeanor, Mu Qing remained skeptical.
"Follow me."
Qin Feiyang turned around and walked down the street on the left.
Mu Qing caught up, curiously asking, "Where are we going?"
"The Commander and Deputy Commander of the Kylin Army always stay in the royal palace, but they have families too."
Qin Feiyang explained.
"Oh, I see."
Mu Qing nodded in realization.
About a hundred breaths later, the two entered a narrow alley and then onto the opposite street.
Qin Feiyang stopped in the middle of the street, scanning the surroundings.
Large mansions lined the street in an orderly fashion, all belonging to the Martial Lord Mansion.
Mu Qing stood silently by, frowning as Qin Feiyang lingered without moving, "Do you even remember?"
"I came here a few times as a kid; it should be around here."
Qin Feiyang muttered.
"As a kid?"
Mu Qing’s forehead was sweating.
Qin Feiyang was a kid before he was ten.
So many years have passed; everything has changed. How could he possibly find it?
This guy is really unreliable!
"I remember the Commander’s mansion is near a crossroads."
"There are two stone-crafted Taotie statues on either side of the gate."
Qin Feiyang said.
"A crossroads..."
"Taotie..."
Mu Qing surveyed the street and pointed to the right, "There’s a crossroads over there."
"Let’s go check it out."
Qin Feiyang said.
The two silently crept over.
Before they even got close, they spotted two Taotie stone statues in front of a mansion’s gate.
The sculptures were lifelike, with gaping maws and fierce eyes!
"It’s here!"
Qin Feiyang stopped beneath a large tree on the street, staring at the mansion like a ghost.
In front, four guards stood vigilant, clad in black attire, staring straight ahead.
Their auras weren’t particularly strong; Five-Star War Ancestors.
Above the gate, six shining golden characters were prominently displayed.
—Kylin Army Commander’s Mansion!
Each stroke of these characters was like an iron hook, radiating an aura of terrifying aggressiveness.
Mu Qing swallowed nervously, sending a transmission, "What’s the Great Commander’s cultivation level?"
"I’m not sure."
"But one thing’s certain, definitely a War Emperor."
"So we must be cautious."
Qin Feiyang discreetly warned.
Mu Qing nodded.
Then suddenly, as if thinking of something, his face changed slightly, "Are you planning to barge in like this?"
"Do you think I’m stupid?"
Qin Feiyang shot him a look.
Though the Kylin Army Commander wasn’t at the mansion, it was obvious the mansion would be well-guarded.
Barging in would be suicidal!
"So what’s your plan?"
Mu Qing asked.
"I remember the Kylin Army Commander has a daughter around my age, what was her name again?"
"I don’t remember her well."
"Anyway, if we can get her, the Commander will naturally come to us."
"Just not sure if she’s at the mansion right now."
Qin Feiyang said.
Mu Qing’s eyes lit up, "Do you remember where she lives?"
"I’ve only met her a few times. How would I know where she lives?"
Qin Feiyang rolled his eyes at him.
Mu Qing said, "Then let’s sneak in first and search slowly."
Qin Feiyang surveyed the mansion’s wall and the guards at the gate, whispering, "Be careful not to get noticed."
Mu Qing nodded.
The two retreated slowly.
They stopped only when they were out of the guards’ sight.
Then.
The two quietly darted across the street to the base of the wall.
Without a word, Mu Qing prepared to climb over.
"Why the hurry?"
"Observe first."
Qin Feiyang pulled him down, then leapt up, grabbed the top of the wall, and peeked inside.
A garden filled his view, lush with plants, blossoming flowers, and rich with fragrance.
Several rockeries and a clear stream flowed quietly, making a gentle sound.
Along the garden path stood black-clad guards.
Judging by their aura, the weakest was a Five-Star War Ancestor.
Mu Qing joined him, observing inside, his pupils slightly contracting, "This is excessive!"
By his count, there were at least twenty guards in just this garden.
Basically stationed every few steps.
"That’s why I said to observe first. If you had jumped over blindly, you’d be caught for sure."
Qin Feiyang whispered.
Then.
He concealed his presence completely and cautiously scaled the wall, landing softly on the grass below.
Mu Qing followed, being extraordinarily careful, even controlling his breath and heartbeat.
They hid behind a small tree, watching the guards.
Mu Qing whispered, "We weren’t noticed, let’s go!"
They were about to step out.
But suddenly!
Right from the small trees in front of them, two green glowing lights burst out!
Immediately.
The two couldn’t help but feel a chill all over.
They didn’t have time to see what the green light was, and quickly retreated.
"Who!"
Because of their excessive movements, they alerted the guards, who turned their heads in unison to look at them.
"Who are you?"
"Sneaking into the Commander’s mansion for what purpose?"
More than a dozen guards instantly tore through the sky, surrounding Qin Feiyang and Mu Qing.
"Damn it!"
Qin Feiyang and Mu Qing glanced at those guards, their faces extremely gloomy.
They had just sneaked into the mansion and were immediately exposed, truly an unfavorable start.
"Report your names!"
Seeing Qin Feiyang and Mu Qing remain silent, one of the guards shouted sternly.
At this moment.
The commotion here also alerted guards further away, who all rushed in this direction with extremely sharp gazes!
Swish!
Just then.
The two green lights stopped in mid-air.
They turned out to be two small green snakes.
Very slender, about the size of chopsticks, tongue flickering, jade green all over, blending perfectly with leaves and bushes, virtually unnoticeable.
On the surface, these two small snakes seemed to pose no threat.
"Phantom snakes!"
But when Qin Feiyang and Mu Qing saw the snakes’ true form, they both turned pale.
Phantom snakes are extremely rare and terrifying beasts.
But what’s terrifying isn’t their power, it’s their physical characteristics.
They are not only small but can change the color of their skin at will with environmental changes.
In short.
They’re like chameleons.
And this is only secondary!
The most terrifying thing about them is that they have no smell whatsoever.
Like other snakes, their bodies exude a certain fishy odor.
Not to mention snakes, even other beasts, or humans, would have some degree of odor.
But Phantom snakes have absolutely none.
Furthermore.
They not only have no smell but no aura either.
It’s not because they’ve restrained their aura; they are inherently without, regardless of their cultivation.
Even if they cultivate to the level of War Ancestor, War Saint, or even War Emperor, they won’t emit any aura.
Just like their name, they’re like phantoms.
No exaggeration.
If they don’t reveal themselves first, even if they’re underfoot, you wouldn’t notice them.
Mu Qing’s face turned ashen, full of fury, secretly cursing: "Why didn’t you tell me earlier about the Phantom snakes here?"
"When I was young and came here, I hadn’t heard of Phantom snakes!"
Qin Feiyang transmitted his voice, feeling a headache.
Phantom snakes aren’t highly aggressive, but they’re colorless, odorless, and skilled at disguise.
Moreover, their venom, while not lethal, can paralyze nerves.
In a sense, they’re born guardians.
This Kylin Army Commander is clever, actually letting them guard the mansion.
"What do we do now?"
Mu Qing was extremely anxious.
At this point, hiding in the ancient fortress is unrealistic.
Because once they disappear out of nowhere, these guards might suspect something.
"Don’t worry, there will be a way."
Qin Feiyang quietly reassured, trying to keep calm.
"Don’t think that saying nothing will get you off the hook."
"I’m telling you, unless you explain, you’ll die today!"
"Don’t even think about escaping; our mansion has more than just these two Phantom snakes."
"Look at your feet!"
One of the guards sneered.
The approaching guards increased, now numbering over thirty.
"Feet?"
Qin Feiyang and Mu Qing froze, hurriedly looked down, faces turning pale.
Only to see beneath their feet, in the grass, continuously emerging Phantom snakes.
All about the length of chopsticks.
Countless.
Both felt chills run down their spine.
"What is going on?"
Just then.
An elderly figure in black descended swiftly, landing in front of the guards.
"Steward, you’re just in time; we caught two little thieves."
"Yes, they’re sneaking into the mansion, unclear about their intentions?"
The guards spoke.
"Little thieves?"
Qin Feiyang was slightly taken aback, suddenly inspired.
The steward also froze, scrutinizing Qin Feiyang and Mu Qing, sneering, "You have guts, do you know where this is?"
"No idea."
Qin Feiyang shook his head.
"Hm?"
The steward and guards were dumbfounded.
Not even aware of the Kylin Army Commander’s mansion, where did these little thieves come from?
"Ahem!"
The steward coughed, "Listen up, this is the Kylin Army Commander’s mansion."
"What?"
Qin Feiyang’s face changed, body trembled, appearing very afraid, very desperate.
"What’s wrong? Cramping?"
Mu Qing suspiciously glanced at him.
"Cramp your grandpa!"
"If you want to live, just follow my lead."
Qin Feiyang cursed quietly.
This guy, what’s going through his head, hasn’t he seen that he’s pretending?
Mu Qing subtly arched an eyebrow, lowered his head, showing an expression of terror.
